Purpose: This study was done to develop the concept of resilience focusing on cancer patients in Korea. Methods: This study was done in three phases sugggested in the Hybrid Model; theoretical phase, fieldwork phase, and analytical phase. Eight cancer patients participated in the fieldwork phase. Results: The antecedent of the concept of resilience was the crisis or adversity that threatens life or changes the quality of life. The attributes of resilience were psychosocial, relational, situational confrontation and faith (philosophical) characteristics. 1) Psychosocial : self worth, self efficacy, self-confidence, independence, optimistic & positive mind, strong will, and responsibility, 2) Relational : relation-oriented, intimacy, and social interests, 3) Situational confrontation : appraisal of stress situation, problem-oriented coping, and ability to applicate a new situation, 4) Faith (philosophical) : the belief that self-knowledge is valuable, finding positive meanings, religious belief, a belief that lives are worthwhile and meaningful, and a balanced perspective of one's life. The consequences of resilience were acceptance of adversity, getting through one's dread and apprehensions, and gratitude & sharing life. The contributing factor of resilience is positive family support. Conclusion: The concept of resilience is necessary in order to manage cancer patients for promoting quality of life so that its application may have a positive impact on the patients care.
This study aimed to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Thai Elderly Resilience Scale (TERS). Its conceptual structure consists of three identified domains, I AM, I HAVE, and I CAN, within the 18 components that were initially used for developing the item pool. The first draft of the scale consisted of 50 items. A psychometric evaluation of content validity reliability and construct validity was conducted. The results yielded the current version of the TERS based on Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) consisting of 24 items categorized into 5 factors: 1) being able to join other people, 2) being confident in life 3) have social support 4) living with spiritual security and 5) being able to de-stress and manage problems. The scale had a high internal consistency (${\alpha}=.94$). A strong positive correlation between resilience and mental health scores were found (r=.84, p<.01, n=30). The newly developed TERS would be a useful tool to assess resilience in Thai elderly and can be applied to develop further studies regarding elderly Thai people.

This study verified the effect size of related factors through meta-analysis based on master's theses and doctoral dissertations and academic journal papers studied in Korea for the past 10years in relation to the resilience of childcare teachers. The verification results are as follows. First, the overall effect size of the protection factors was large. In addition, the personality factor group was the largest among the protection factor groups, followed by the job characteristic factor group and the organizational attribute factor group. Second, among the protection factors, all the sub-factors except the organizational characteristic factor group-ledger leadership and job characteristic factor group-emotional labor, which showed the medium effect size, showed a large effect size. Third, the overall effect size of the risk factor showed a large effect size. The organizational characteristic factor group-burnout showed a larger effect size than the job characteristic factor group-job stress. In conclusion, this study is meaningful in that it attempted a quantitative integration to examine objective results by integrating the previous studies in relation to the resilience of childcare teachers over the past 20 years. In addition, it is significant that it provided basic data for the development of policies and policy developments to improve the resilience of childcare teachers.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among teachers' resilience, difficulty in emotional regulation, and teaching strategies for behavior problems of children. Methods: A total of 200 day care and kindergarten teachers were surveyed. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. Results: First, teachers' resilience, difficulty in emotional regulation and teaching strategies for children with behavior problems were significantly related. Teachers' resilience showed a positive correlation with teachers' positive prevention and reaction strategies but showed a negative correlation with teachers' negative reaction strategies. Among the teachers' difficulty in emotional regulation, the factor of difficulty for impulsive control and lack of attention showed negative correlations with teachers' prevention and positive reaction strategies. Second, teachers' resilience and difficulty in emotional regulation significantly explained the teaching strategies for children with behavior problems. Teachers' resilience was found to be the most important variable explaining teaching strategies for children with behavior problems. Conclusion/Implications: This study revealed that teachers' resilience and difficulties in emotional regulation were important psychological and emotional characteristics for teachers when teaching children with behavior problems.
Objectives: This study aimed to identify measures that can improve the quality of dental hygienists' work by analyzing the effects of role stress, resilience, and professional identity on burnout. Methods: Self-report questionnaires were administered to 339 dental hygienists working in dental institutions located in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeong-gi, South Korea from August 1 to September 30, 2017. Results: Out of a maximum of 5 points, role stress scored an average of 2.80, resilience scored 3.61, professional identity scored 3.27, and burnout scored 2.78. The factor that most affected the exhaustion of dental hygienists was professional identity (${\beta}=-0.397$), followed by role stress (${\beta}=0.251$), and resilience (${\beta}=-0.150$). Conclusions: The results showed that the role stress, resilience, and professional identity of dental hygienists affected burnout. Efforts to reinforce the resilience and professional identity of dental hygienists may be needed alongside efforts to reduce role stress. Hence, resilience reinforcement programs alongside supplemental education programs that reinforce the work skills required of dental hygienists according to their clinical experience after graduation should be developed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze factors affecting work engagement and burnout among clinical nurses according to resilience. Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey and questionnaires were collected from 182 clinical nurses who worked in hospitals in "J" province. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical multiple regressions. Results: The mean score of resilience, work engagement, burnout were $3.47{\pm}0.38$, $4.29{\pm}0.98$, $2.25{\pm}0.82$ respectively. Resilience had 26.3% of the influence on work engagement and 50.5% of the influence on burnout. Sub-variables of causal analysis and empathy of resilience were statistically useful as factors influencing burnout. Conclusion: Resilience has been identified as a factor affecting work engagement and burnout. Therefore, nursing departments and nurse managers should strive to develop programs for the promotion of resilience.

Purpose: The present study utilizes a descriptive research design to investigate the moderating effect of resilience on the relationship between the experience of traumatic events and turnover intention among intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. Methods: The participants were 161 hospital nurses who voluntarily agreed to participate in this study. Traumatic event experience, turnover intention, and resilience were assessed. The data were analyzed with hierarchical multiple regression using the SPSS 26.0 software program. Results: The experience of traumatic events had a statistically significant positive correlation with turnover intention (r=.17, p=.037), whereas it had a statistically significant negative correlation with turnover intention and resilience (r=-.37, p<.001). Resilience had a moderating effect on the relationship between the experience of traumatic events and turnover intention (𝛽=-.20, p=.007). Conclusion: The results of this study found that the experience of traumatic events among ICU nurses was a significant factor in turnover intention and that resilience moderated the strength of the relationship between such experiences and turnover intention. Therefore, to prevent ICU nurses' experience of a traumatic event from leading to their leaving nursing, it is necessary to formulate preventive measures and interventions for traumatic events, while enhancing resilience among ICU nurses.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality, positive psychological capital, and academic resilience of nursing students and to identify the factors affecting academic resilience of nursing students. Data were collected from 199 nursing students in their first and second year at C nursing college in M-gun, J-do, and a survey was conducted from July 10 to July 28, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearsons correlation coefficient, Stepwise multiple regression analysis was conducted. Personality had a significant positive correlation with positive psychological capital(r=.62, p<.001) and academic resilience(r=.68, p<.001), and positive psychological capital had a significant positive correlation with academic resilience(r=.79, p<.001). The major factor influencing the academic resilience of nursing students was positive psychological capital, followed by personality, interpersonal relationship, and college life satisfaction, and their total explanatory power was 72% (F=102.85, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop an educational program that can increase positive psychological capital in order to strengthen the academic resilience of nursing students, and efforts should be made to introduce and manage it in the nursing curriculum.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between child maltreatment, protective factors, and resilience in elementary school students. It was especially focused on what direct effect of the risk factor(child maltreatment) and protective factors to child resilience, and how protective factors affect the resilience of maltreated child. In the concrete, this study intended to find out whether protective factors mediate between child maltreatment and resilience. This study based on data from the first wave of 'Korean Youth Panel Survey(KYPS)' and subjects consisted of 2,844 4th grade elementary school students. In addition, to test the proposed models, the Mplus-structural equation modeling-was used. The major findings are as follows: First, when child maltreatment increased, resilience decreased. Second, when protective factors increased, resilience increased. Third, protective factors act as buffers against the negative effects of child maltreatment on resilience by mediation. Results indicated that child maltreatment related negatively to resilience and protective factors related positively to resilience. In addition, a mediational model in which protective factors mediates child maltreatment and resilience was supported. In conclusion, various theoretical and practical implications for social work practice focusing on the maltreated children were discussed.
The purpose of this study is to develop a children's ego-resilience measurement scale and to examine the reliability and validity of the developed scale. Subjects consisted of 289 children of age 3 to 5 attending kindergarten and daycare centers located in Gwangju city and Chonnam province. Factor analysis, correlation analysis and reliability analysis were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and Amos 18.0 programs. The children's ego resilience scale consists of 26 items of 5 factors(attention concentration, emotion control, self efficacy, empathy, peer relationship) after the exploratory factor analysis. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that RMSEA is .059, NNFI is .901 and CFI is .913. Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient were acceptable with this study's scale and KPRC. Chronbach ${\alpha}$ were also acceptable. Thus, the developed children's ego resilience measurement scale is reliable and valid.
