High voltage MOSFET fabricated by using a standard CMOS logic process to drive the top emission OLEDs in silicon-based OELDs

  • Using the conventional standard CMOS logic process, the high voltage MOSFET to drive top emission OLEDs was fabricated for the silicon-based organic electroluminescent display. The drift region of the conventional high voltage MOSFET was implemented by the n-well of the logic process. The measurement result shows a good saturation characteristic up to 50 V without breakdown phenomena.

  • 의료영상은 환자의 질병을 진단하고 치료방침을 결정하는데 중요한 도구로 자리매김하고 있다. 최근 의료영상을 인공지능 연구가 국내외에서 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 특히 대규모의 의료영상들을 학습시켜 질병과 상태를 정밀 진단할 뿐만 아니라 예측하는 소프트웨어를 개발 하는 상황이다. 그러나 의료영상은 DICOM 표준에 따르고 있지만 태그정보의 사용은 의료기기와 의료기관마다 상이하다. 따라서 의료영상에 대한 메타 데이터의 표준화에 어려움이 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 의료영상 데이터를 표준화 할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 제안한 표준화 데이터로 변환할 수 있는 ETL 소프트웨어의 수행결과를 보이고, 조건에 따라 머신러닝 학습 데이터셋을 생성하는 결과를 제공한다. 향후 제안한 의료영상 표준화와 ETL 소프트웨어는 다양한 수요자 중심의 표준화된 데이터셋을 제공할 수 있는 플랫폼의 주요기능으로 활용 될 것으로 기대한다.

  • IoT 산업이 발전하면서 기존 토이와 IoT 기술을 결합한 스마트토이가 각광 받고 있다. 스마트토이는 수동적인 방식의 기존토이와는 다르게 토이 간 인터렉션이 가능하며 전자 센서들을 사용하여 토이를 사용하는 어린아이들에 코딩을 활용한 콘텐츠를 제공가능하다. 기존 스마트토이는 처음에는 호기심을 자극하지만, 익숙해지면 흥미가 떨어지는 현상을 보인다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존 스마트토이가 갖는 재미요소 증가와 다양한 콘텐츠의 개발을 위해서 스마트 토이에 Artificial Intelligence(AI) 기능을 접목한 AI 카메라블록을 사용하여 새로운 콘텐츠를 개발하였다.

Botulinum Toxin A Ameliorates Neuroinflammation in the MPTP and 6-OHDA-Induced Parkinson's Disease Models

  • Recently, increasing evidence suggests that neuroinflammation may be a critical factor in the development of Parkinson's disease (PD) in addition to the ratio of acetylcholine/dopamine because dopaminergic neurons are particularly vulnerable to inflammatory attack. In this study, we investigated whether botulinum neurotoxin A (BoNT-A) was effective for the treatment of PD through its anti-neuroinflammatory effects and the modulation of acetylcholine and dopamine release. We found that BoNT-A ameliorated MPTP and 6-OHDA-induced PD progression, reduced acetylcholine release, levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α as well as GFAP expression, but enhanced dopamine release and tyrosine hydroxylase expression. These results indicated that BoNT-A had beneficial effects on MPTP or 6-OHDA-induced PD-like behavior impairments via its anti-neuroinflammation properties, recovering dopamine, and reducing acetylcholine release.

  • Gastric cancer (GC) is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Thus, early diagnosis is important to improve disease prognosis. Endoscopic assessment represents the most reliable imaging method for GC diagnosis; however, it is semi-invasive and costly and heavily depends on the skills of the endoscopist, which limit its clinical applicability. Therefore, the search for new sensitive biomarkers for the early detection of GC using noninvasive sampling collection methods has attracted much attention among scientists. Urine is considered an ideal biofluid, as it is readily accessible, less complex, and relatively stable than plasma and serum. Over the years, substantial progress has been made in screening for potential urinary biomarkers for GC. This review explores the possible applications and limitations of urinary biomarkers in GC detection and diagnosis.

  • Inhalation toxicity, mutagenicity, and immunotoxicity tests were performed using a smoke generation system to investigate the safety of Herbrette, a tobacco substitute made with the leaves of Perilla frutescens. ICR mice were exposed to nicotine-free Herbrette smoke with concentrations of 0 (control), 4.08 $\pm$ 1.32 mg/$m^3$ (low dose), 7.72 $\pm$ 2.14 mg/$m^3$ (medium dose) and 12.83 $\pm$ 1.69 mg/$m^3$ (high dose) total particulate matters (TPM) for 4 weeks. When compared to the control group, the body weights, organ weights in the exposed groups did not show any significant differences. However, certain change of several serum chemical data and biochemical parameters were observed, however, the changes were within normal physiological ranges. Moreover, no changes in organ weight, and no gross/microscopic changes were observed between the exposed and control groups. Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation, in vivo chromosomal aberration and micronucleus assays revealed that Herbrette did not induce mutagenicity. Upon evaluation of peripheral cellular immunity of mice through in vitro lymphocyte proliferation assay, no significant difference was observed in mean stimulation index between the exposed and control groups. Taken together, our results strongly suggest that Herbrette may not cause toxicity on mice under current condition.

  • Normal fertilization and pregnancy by round spermatid was achieved from nonobstructive azoospermia patient to be believed untreatable. Therefore, it is suggested that application of round spermatid in human ART program seems to be new treatment of male infertility. Also, it will be needed further research for evaluated fertilization mechanism by round spermatid injection.
