This paper summarises the results of an experimental study to investigate the flexural behaviour of reinforced concrete beams strengthened using carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate in four-point bending. The experimental parameters included are the reinforcing bar ratio ${\rho}_s$ and preload level. Four bar ratios were selected (${\rho}_s=0.13$ to 0.86%), representing the section of two longitudinal tensile reinforcements, with diameters of 8, 14, 16, and 20 mm in order to reveal the effect of bar ratio on failure load and failure mode. Eight beams that could be considered "full-scale" in size, measuring 200 mm in width, 400 mm in total height and 2300 mm in length, were tested. Three beams were selected with different bar ratios (${\rho}_1$, ${\rho}_2$, ${\rho}_3$), and considered as control specimens (without ), while three other beams identical to the control beams with the same CFRP laminates ratio and a seventh beam with ${\rho}_{min}$ (the lowest bar ratio) were also used. In the second part of the study, two beams with the bar ratio ${\rho}_2$ were preloaded at two levels, 50 and 100% of their ultimate loads, and then repaired. This experimental investigation was consolidated using an analytical model. The experimental and analytical results indicate that the flexional capacity and stiffness of strengthened and repaired beams using CFRP laminate were increased compared to those of control beams, and the behaviour of repaired beams was nearly similar to the undamaged and strengthened beams; unlike the ductility of strengthened beams, which was greatly reduced compared to the control.

This study explores the effects of repair width on the deposition characteristics and mechanical properties of stainless steel samples repaired using direct energy deposition (DED). In the DED repair process, defects such as pores and cracks can occur at the interface between the substrate and deposited material. In this study, we changed the width of the pre-machined zone for repair in order to prevent cracks from occurring at the inclined surface. As a result of the experiment, cracks of 10-40 ㎛ in length were formed along the inclined slope regardless of the repair width. Yield and tensile strength decreased slightly as the repair width increased, but the total and uniform elongation increased. This is due to the orientation of the crack. For specimens with a repair width of 20 mm, yield and tensile strength were 883 MPa and 1135 MPa, respectively. Total and uniform elongations were 14.3% and 8.2%, respectively. During observation of the fracture specimens, we noted that the fracture of the specimen with an 8 mm repair width occurred along the slope, whereas specimens with 14 mm and 20 mm repair depths fractured at the middle of the repaired region. In conclusion, we found that tensile properties were dependent upon the repair width and the inclination of the crack occurred at the interface.

When the RC structure repaired by patching repair method, which method refilles with patching repair material after removes degraded area, It is necessary to determine chloride ion's permeation from outside of the RC structure repaired by patching repair material. Therefore, in this study, damage from sea environment of structure was predicted, moreover, diffusion coefficient of concrete also determined to figure out rebar's corrosion and concentration of chloride ion. RCPT(Rapid Chloride Permeability Test) was used for ditermination of patching repair material's diffusion coefficient, also connection between material thickness and effect of chloride ion's permeation was examined in analytically. Results which derived by experimental test was used in FEM(Finite Element Method) and equation suggested by JSCE to predict concentration of chloride ion in different distance from surface.

The aim of this study is to perform a finite element analysis of the Von Mises stresses distribution in the adhesive layer and of the J-Integral for a damaged plate repaired by a composite patch. Firstly, we study the effect of the fiber orientation, especially the position of the layers that have orientation angle different of $0^{\circ}$ from the first layer which is in all cases of our study oriented at ($0^{\circ}$) on the J-Integral. Secondly, we evaluate the effects of the mechanical properties of the patch and the use of a hybrid patch on the reduction of stresses distribution and J-Integral. The results show clearly that the stacking sequence for the composite patch must be selected to absorb optimally the stresses from the damaged area and to position the various layers of the composite under the first layer whose fibers orientation will remain in all cases equal to $0^{\circ}$. The use of a hybrid composite reduces significantly the J-Integral and the stresses in both damaged plate and the adhesive layer.
Ppupose: Velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) during articulation development period can cause compensatory articulation like glottal stop, which can maintain VPI symptoms such as hypernasality and nasal emission despite of recovered velopharyngeal function. Methods: A girl visited our department with speech problems such as hypernasality, compensatory articulation patterns, and nasal air emission. She had history of postpalatoplasty fistula which was repaired after 1 year follow-up. Results: After treated with speech therapy without surgery, her hypernasal speech problem was corrected. From this, we could assume that the fistula during articulation development period induced VPI, which leads to glottal substitution and this compensatory articulation maintained VPI though the fistula was repaired. Conclusion: In this report, we could observe that palatal fistula in articulation development period can have detrimental effect on articulation, and also we could confirm that evaluation of soft palate mechanism with using speech sample without compensatory articulations prevent the patient from unnecessary operation.
Bochdalek hernia is a type of congenital diaphragmatic defect in the posterolateral portion of the diaphragm. The defect is usually Lt. sided due to protective effect of liver on right. Sex distribution is male preponderance [2:1] and it is diagnosed during neonate, mostly first 24 hours, due to severe respiratory distress. We experienced a rare case of old aged female patient with congenital Bochdalek hernia on Rt. side which was found incidentally during treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax of Rt. side. 17 year old female patient was admitted to CS department for chest discomfort on right and mild dyspnea with duration of 20 days. Under the diagnosis of spontaneous pneumothorax, Rt. closed thoracostomy and underwater sealed drainage with continuous suction was applied. On follow-up chest x-ray, poorly defined hazy increased density with multiple air-fluid levels in Rt. lower lung field and Lt. subphrenic free air were noted. So, Barium enema was done under the impression of Rt. diaphragmatic hernia, and nearly entire colon proximal to sigmoid was demonstrated in the Rt. hemithorax. Operation was done-for surgical repair of defected diaphragm through Rt. posterolateral thoracotomy. Operative findings were as follows; 1.Hypoplastic Rt. lung, esp. RML & RLL. 2.Nearly entirely intestines were herniated. 3.Diaphragmatic defect was located on posterolateral portion of the diaphragm, about 10x3cm in size with blunt smooth margin. 4.A large bleb on apex of RUL of lung. Herniated intestines were repaired into abdominal cavity manually and defect of diaphragm was repaired with No. I black silk interrupted sutures directly, and bleb was resected. Postoperative courses were uneventful and the patient was discharged with good condition on POD 14th.
The use of composite patches for the reduction of stresses at the level of the damaged zone in aeronautical structures has experienced rapid expansion given its advantages over conventional mechanical processes (riveting, bolting, etc.). Initially, The research axes in this field were aimed at choosing suitable mechanical properties for the composite and the adhesive, then to optimize the shape of the composite patch in order to ensure good load transfer and avoid having a debonding at the level of the edges essentially for the case of a repair by single side where the bending moment is present due to the non-symmetry of the structure. Our work falls within this context; the objective is to analyze by the finite element method the fracture behavior of a damaged plate repaired by composite patch. Stress reduction at the edge is accomplished by creating a variable angle chamfer on the composite patch. The effects of the crack length, the laminate sequence and the nature of the patch as well as the use of a hybrid patch were investigated. The results show clearly that a beveled patch reduces the stress concentrations in the damaged area and even at its edges. The hybrid patch also ensures good durability of the repair by optimizing its stacking sequence and the location of the different layers according to the fibers orientations.

The failure strength of composite single-lap joint repaired using scarf patch was investigated by test and finite element method. A total of 45 specimens were tested changing scarf ratio, stacking pattern, and defect size to study the failure strength and mode. Except for one case, all repaired specimens showed the equal or higher strength than the sound specimens and the effect of considered repair parameters was not remarkable. It was found through the failure mode inspection that the surface treatment for bonding was not enough in the case which failed at the lower load than the sound specimen. Three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted to verify the test results. It was confirmed that the considered repair parameters do not significantly affect the stress distribution of the specimens. It was also observed that the applied tensile load is relieved passing through the overlapped region thickness of which is almost double. From this study, it is concluded that if the bonding procedure for adherends and patch including surface treatment for fabric layer is thoroughly followed, the strength of repaired single-lap joint can be restored up to the strength of sound one.
Purpose: In accordance with the increase in the number of buildings repaired and reinforced following deterioration from when a fire occurs in a previously reinforced building, the impact on the structure after the fire is analyzed to establish standards for repair and reinforcement measures. Method: After curing for 28 days, the process was to measure the compressive strength and induce destruction through a compressor, repair and reinforce it with epoxy, and conduct a re-compressive strength test on some specimens after curing for 3 days to understand the degree of strength restoration. The rest of the repaired and reinforced specimens as well as the unrepaired and unreinforced specimens were then put into an oven and heated according to the temporal and temperate conditions listed below, and then the compressive strength was tested to estimate the impact of fire. Result: After reinforcing the yielded specimen with epoxy, the process was to then put it in an oven and heat it at different temperatures over time. It was found that there was a decrease in the strength of the reinforcement more than that of the actual specimen. Conclusion: Based on this, it was found that a building repaired and reinforced with epoxy resin is actually more dangerous than a general unrepaired building when it is damaged by fire, and thus, that it must be prepared for fire vulnerabilities.

The aim of this research is to investigate and to compare the shear strengthening effects of steel plates and glass fiber sheets(GFS). Shear damaged beams were repaired by steel plates and GFS. Thickness of steel plates and strengthening type of GFS were taken as the parameters. With loading, the development and propagation of cracks, failure mode and deformation of strengthening materials were checked. The ultimate load was compared with formulas proposed by previous researchers.
