Development of Smart Remote Terminal Unit for Water Treatment SCADA System (상하수도 원격감시제어 시스템 구현을 위한 스마트 RTU의 개발 및 적용)

  • In this paper, a new remote terminal unit(hereafter RTU) is proposed to manage a wide range of applications and a variety of sensors (eg, pressure, water quality, temperature and humidity sensors, the amount of pollutants, $CO_2$, etc.) to monitor and control the facility such as water treatment plant, intake and effluent pumping station, water tank and distribution network. Fault status of local sensor devices and network are alerted by using the embedded fault handling capabilities of the RTU in the system and also sent to the fault handling server, by which fault can be easily monitored to users. The developed system was applied to one of K-water branch offices in Geoje city and improved its reliability and stability for controlling and monitoring water facility.

  • In this paper design and implementation of ship's distributed remote control system using dual-microprocessor is presented for real time process. The proposed system is implemented with the single chip microprocessors in tightly coupled mode and results in speed up of $s_p$=1.74. Under the assumption that the nodes are interconnected in multidrop, the overall system performance such as average throughout-delay characteristics and effective throughput are analyzed using M/G/1 queneing model, and results show that the proposed node can be used in medium sized distributed monitoring and control system.

  • In this paper, we described the integrated monitoring system for low-voltage panel boards. This system consists of three parts, a panel board controller, an integrated monitoring unit and a remote PC. The panel board controller which was made of CT/PT unit, control unit and power supply is able to transmit variable parameter for monitoring and diagnosis of low voltage branch circuits. Also, the integrated monitoring unit was collected monitoring data from panel boards and displayed on the touch panel.

  • Most measuring devices are equipped with RS-232 or GPIB interface for communicating data with computers. If the measuring devices can be accessed by a server computer, the valuable information from the devices can be effectively shared with other computers via internet. But, if the measuring devices and the server computer are too far away, it is difficulty to directly connect them by RS232 interface. PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) refers to the world's collection of interconnected voice-oriented public telephone networks. Measuring computer system which is equipped with RS232 interface and modem for PSTN can be introduced to overcome the aforementioned distance problem, In this work, an internet based remote monitoring system which utilizes PSTN and VRML for 3-dimensional GUI is proposed.

  • This paper describes technical method about remote control and monitoring of local system by use personal mobile device in anytime and anywhere. Therefore, the user don't need to stay in operation room of local system. The PC server environment for the mobile connection are constructed with Apache web server, PHP and MySQL ODBC. The mobile internet homepage for the remote mobile connection is designed by Anybuilder software and mobile simulator, Openwave SDK 6.2 is used for the development. The mobile internet program can be applicate to all of domestic communication companies LGT, SKT and KTF. We use KTF mobile contains WAP browser for the test. We used NI Labview software to control and monitoring of local system. The local system, which will be controlled remotely have constructed with analog/digital signal acquisition device, signal control board and their software. By experiments, we confirmed remote control by mobile device are possible.

  • In this paper have embodied a TCP/IP based small embedded web server and proposed the technical method for monitoring the real-time system states and remote controlling system using HTTP about manipulator joint angle. This also uses TCP/IP, which is the general protocol. and it is made of software, not of the TCP/IP stack with hardware chip. Then we attach the simulating results about the manipulator's input/output via web browser.

  • This paper deals with monitoring sensor robot control system for the application of wireless sensor network. In order to control the direction and speed of robot via remote sensing environment, low power, low weight sensors with ad-hoc networking between robots' sensors have been used. These wireless sensor network based robot monitoring system can be used for remote observation and detection of robots in the areas such as factories, power plants and other dangerous areas which are difficult for human access.

  • In this paper, we propose Total RMS(Radiation Monitoring System) for nuclear and nuclear medicine. The proposed system can expand and control Stack Monitor, Area Monitor, and Water(Liquid) Monitor into one system, and can monitor the signals measured by each radiation detector in an integrated manner. The proposed system consists of a sensor module that detects the radiation, a display unit that displays the radiation dose near the radiation detection location, an alarm unit that reports the alarm when the detected radiation dose reaches the danger level, A Main Hub for collecting and storing the contents to the remote monitoring system, and an RMS Monitoring Unit for clearly displaying the measured radiation dose at the remote site. In order to evaluate the performance of Total RMS for the proposed nuclear and nuclear medicine field, it is confirmed that the measurement uncertainty is less than 8.5% and it operates normally within ${\pm}15%$ of the international standard.

  • This paper presents the development of a knowledge-based control system operating via the Internet. With the synergy provided by the Internet, the central expert controller with its knowledge-base has the potential to serve a multitude of front-end clients located anywhere in the world provided they have Internet access. In this way, the operational span of the knowledge-based control system can be expanded to virtually anyplace within the reach of the Internet. This configuration has positive implications in improving the efficiency of distributed operations, thereby enabling plantwide optimization and costs savings. Datasocket technology is adopted to facilitate a more efficient data exchange between the knowledge-based central server and the front-end clients. A specific application in the remote monitoring and fault diagnosis of machines using the proposed control configuration is presented in the paper.
