MMA-modified fiberglass-reinforced plastic composite pipe was produced by using the binder of MMA-modified unsaturated polyester resin in which low viscosity MMA was added to unsaturated polyester resin. Sixteen specimens were made of polymer mortar and fiberglass-reinforced plastic by the centrifugal method. For these specimens the external strength tests were carried out by taking the core thickness consisting of polymer mortar and the fiberglass content per unit area as experimental variables to figure out the effect of variations of these variables influencing on flexural rigidity that is an important property for the composite pipe. Results of this study are believed to provide the basic data for more economical and practical design of MMA-modified fiberglass-reinforced plastic composite pipe.
This study was performed to compare the fatigue limit of stainless steel wires and Fiber-reinforced composites (FRC) under conditions of permitting physiologic tooth movement. and to evaluate the clinical value of FRCs which was used to reinforce the anchorage unit. The stainless steel wire groups were divided into round and rectangular wire groups. The FRC groups were divided into uni-directional and woven groups, with resin coating and without resin coating in the Proximal area After the number of cycles to failure of each of the 6 groups were measured within the $5{\times}10^5\;cycle$ fatigue limit simulating the orthodontic treatment period. the fatigue limit of each group was compared with each other The findings of this study were as follows. In stainless steel wires, the fatigue limit of rectangular wires were higher than that of round wires. But there was no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). In FRCs with resin coating and without resin coating in the interproximal area, the fatigue limit of uni-directional type was higher than that of the woven type (p<0.05). In uni-directional and woven type FRCs, the fatigue limit of FRC with resin coating in the interproximal area was higher thar that of FRC without resin coating (P<0.05) As the FRCs and stainless steel wires did not fracture until the $5{\times}10^5\;cycle$ fatigue limit which clinically is useful. it is sufficient to use FRC and stainless steel wire for reinforcing anchorage. When esthetics is important and the attachment of additional devices are necessary. it seems sufficient to use FRC as anchorage reinforcement.

The reinforced composte resin as the esthetic operative material continuously has been studied because the porcelain fused metal prosthesis is widely used for its excellent esthetics, rigidity and marginal integrity, but it has low fracture resistance against the tensile strength and stress, attrition of the opposite teeth. The reinforced composite resin is well adapt with the dental alloy but it is low the shear bond strength with the dental alloy vs the porcelain fused metal prosthesis, and then has been studied continuously. The purpose of the study was to examine how metal was the higher shear bond strength among the dental alloy was used to the reinforced composite resin and to find the effect that the particle size of sandblasting influenced the shear bond strength. We built up the reinforced composite resin with 4 mm in diameter, 3 mm in height on circular alloy with 5 mm in diameter, 2 mm in height. Type II gold, type IV gold, and Ag-Pd alloy was used as alloys and $50{\mu}m$, $110{\mu}m$, $250{\mu}m$ of the particle size was sandblasted at each alloy in bonding between alloy and resin. We made 90 secimens of 10 per each group and we measured the shear bond strength using the Instron($M100EC^{(R)}$, Mecmesin Co., England). The obtained results were as follows : 1. In comparison among each alloys, Ag-Pd alloy had the highest shear bond strength and the shear bond strength was decreased significantly in the sequence of the type II gold and type IV gold(P<0.001). 2. In comparison according to the size of sandblasting particle, (1) In Ag-Pd alloy, shear bond strength was decreased in the sequence of $110{\mu}m$, $250{\mu}m$, $50{\mu}m$ and there were significant difference in all the group. (P<0.05) (2) In type II gold, it was decreased in the sequence of $250{\mu}m$, $50{\mu}m$, $110{\mu}m$ and there were significant difference. (P<0.05) (3) In type IV gold, it was decreased in the sequence of $110{\mu}m$, $50{\mu}m$, $250{\mu}m$. There were significant difference between the group of $110{\mu}m$ and $50{\mu}m$, the group of $110{\mu}m$ and 250, but there were no significant difference in the group of $50{\mu}m$ and $250{\mu}m$. 3. The highest shear bond strength according to the size of sandblasting particle was $110{\mu}m$ in Ag-Pd alloy and type IV gold, $250{\mu}m$ in type II gold.

It has made a special study of bending behavior of F.R.P. sandwich beams with bonded 2nd-reinforced plies. Specimen's faces were made of chopped mat 300-450, roving clothes 570, core is urethane foam, resin is 713bp unsaturated polyester for ship construction and the mixture weight ratio of resin versus fiber was 55:45 for bending analysis. The purpose of this paper is to study the exact bending behavior of bonded area's deflection and stiffness depends upon various bonded F.R.P. (2nd reinforced ply) length and thickness on which covered joints and to find the optimum design for the sandwich structures. All results and suggestions are based on experiment and using thick face calculation.

Statement of problem. In dentistry, the minimally prepared inlay resin-bonded fixed partial denture (FPD) made of new ceromer / fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) was recently introduced. However, the appropriate dimensions for the long-term success and subsequent failure strength are still unknown. Purpose. The aim of this study was to investigate the most fracture-resistible thickness combination of the ceromer / FRC using a universal testing machine and an AE analyzer. Material and Methods. A metal jig considering the dimensions of premolars and molars was milled and 56-epoxy resin dies, which had a similar elastic modulus to that of dentin, were duplicated. According to manufacturer's instructions, the FRC beams with various thicknesses (2 to 4 mm) were constructed and veneered with the 1 or 2 mm-thick ceromers. The fabricated FPDs were luted with resin cement on the resin dies and stored at room temperature for 72 hours. AE (acoustic emission) sensors were attached to both ends, the specimens were subjected to a compressive load until fracture at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The AE and failure loads were recorded and analyzed statistically. Results. The results showed that the failure strength of the ceromer/FRC inlay FPDs was affected by the total thickness of the connectors rather than the ceromer to FRC ratio or the depth of the pulpal wall. Fracture was initiated from the interface and propagated into the ceromer layer regardless of the change in the ceromer / FRC ratio. Conclusion. Within the limitations of this study, the failure loads showed significant differences only in the case of different connector thicknesses, and no significant differences were found between the same connector thickness groups. The application of AE analysis method in a fiber-reinforced inlay FPD can be used to evaluate the fracture behavior and to analyze the precise fracture point.
Most plastics products are being produced by injection molding process. However, mold shrinkage is inevitable in injection molding process and it deteriorates dimensional quality through deflections and warpages. Mold shrinkage depends upon the material property of resin as well as injection molding condition. In this study, material property of resin has been predicted for glass fiber reinforced polycarbonate to control the warpage, and computer simulation of injection molding has been performed using predicted property. It was observed that the deflection of part decreased by the glass fiber reinforced resin. In order to verify the validity of this method and confidence of results, experiments of injection molding were performed. The results of experiments and computer simulations showed good agreement in their tendency of deflections. Consequently, it was concluded that the method of designing the material property of resin conducted in this study can be utilized to control the dimensional accuracy of injection molded products.
Indirect composite resins are used as an popular effective esthetic material in prosthetic dentistry, often with metallic substructure that provides support for restorations. Recently, new indirect composite resins as a substitute of ceramic have been developed. These resins provide good esthetics, with a wide range of hue and chroma. And the flexural strength of those is in the range of 120-150MPa, Which is higher than that of feldspathic Ceramic, and similar th that of Dicor. Although it has many merits, one of the major clinical problems of composite resins is the bond failure between metal and resin due to insufficient interfacial bond strength. The purpose of this study was to evaluate shear bond strength of the reinforced indirect composite resin to dental alloys. Three different composite resin systems($Artglass^{(R)},\;Sculpture^{(R)},\;Targis^{(R)}$) as test groups and ceramic($VMK\;68^{(R)}$) as control group were bonded to Ni-Cr-Be alloy($Rexillium\;III^{(R)}$) and gold alloy(Deva 4). All specimens were stored at $^37{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24 hours and the half of specimens were thermocycled 2000 times at temperature from $5^{\circ}C\;to\;60^{\circ}C$. The shear bond strengths of reinforced indirect composite resins to dental alloys were measured by using the universal testing machine, and modes of debonding were observed by stereoscope and scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows: 1 The shear bond strengths of reinforced indirect composite resins to dental alloys were approximately half those of ceramic to dental alloys(P<0.01). 2. There was no significant difference between the shear bond strength of several reinforced indirect composite resins to metal. 3. Alloy type did not affect on the shear bond strengths of resin to metal, but the shear bond strengths of ceramic to gold alloys were higher than those of ceramic to Ni-Cr alloys(P<0.05). 4. The shear bond strengths of Artglass and Targil to gold alloys were significantly decreased after thermocycling treatment(P<0.01). 5. Sculpture showed cohesive, adhesive, and mixed failure modes, but Artglass and Targis showed adhesive or mixed failures. And ceramic showed cohesive and mixed failures.

One of the many dilemmas that the clinical restorative dentist must face is treating young adolescent patient who prematurely loses his permanent teeth. Temporary prosthetic replacement can be achieved with removable denture, orthodontic band-wire fixed denture, adhesion bridge, composite resin splint with reinforcing material until the patients go through growth and development. But, all of these have limitations. Advances in restorative materials and reinforcement materials have made possible new techniques which are as much esthetic, conservative and more economic and stronger than adhesion brides. Two cases are being presented where gas-plasma treated, woven polyethylene fabric to reinforce composite resin was used to fabricate a temporary prosthetic restoration to replace a missing maxillary central incisor. This relatively noninvasive and basically reversible procedure allows the patient to decide the final restoration as he or she goes thorough maturation of the hard and soft tissues.

In this study, a seat cross member was fabricated by optimizing the resin transfer molding processing of CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics) materials. This seat cross member is used in automotive underbody parts and provides side impact support. The seat cross was manufactured via vacuum resin transfer molding. The process included 1min of resin injection, 8 mins of heating, and 1 min of cooling, for a total molding time of 10mins. Tensile test results showed an average breaking load of 21.50kN, a tensile strength of 404 MPa, and an elastic modulus of 46.2 GPa. As a result, the CFRP seat cross provides the same strength as a similar steel part, but weighs 42% less.
The denture may be fractured accidentally by an impact while outside the mouth, or may be cracked or broken while in service in the mouth. The latter is generally a fatigue failure caused by repeated flexure over a period of time. This investigation compared the flexural fatigue resistance, the impact force and the transverse strength of two denture base materials with and without the grid strengthener, the T300, the T800 and the Kevlar fiber to evaluate the fracture resistance. The distribution and behavior of fibers across fracture lines were examined by Hi-Scope Compact Microvision System. Through analyses of the data from this study, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. The flexural fatigue resistance, impact strength and transverse strength of high impact strength resin were higher than those of conventional heat polymerizing resin, but statistically there was no significant difference(p>0.05). 2. All specimens with and without the grid strengthener did not show significant differences in the flexural fatigue, the impact and the transverse strength test(p>0.05). 3. All specimens reinforced with the T300, the T800 and the Kevlar fiber showed significant increase of the fatigue resistance and the impact force(p<0.05). 4. All specimens reinforced with the T800 and the Kevlar fiber showed significant increase of the transverse strength(p<0.05). 5. All specimens reinforced with the T300, the T800 and the Kevlar fiber exhibited greenstick fractures. The fibers tended to remain enveloped in the resin, resisting pull-out.
