  • The regulatory periodic inspection program (PSI) conducted at every overhaul period is the most important process for confirming the safety of nuclear power plants. The PSI for operating nuclear power plants in Korea mainly consist of component level performance check that had been developed based on deterministic approach putting the same degree of importance to all the inspection items. This inspection methodology is likely to be effective for preoperational inspection. However, once the plant is put into service, the PSI must be focused on whether to minimize the risk of accident using defense-in-depth concept and risk insight. The incorporation of defense-in-depth concept and risk insight into the deterministic based safety inspection has not been well studied so far. In this study, two track approaches are proposed to make sure that core damage be avoided: one is to secure success path and the other to block the failure path in a specific event tree of PSA. The investigation shows how to select safety important components and how to set up inspection group to ensure that core damage would not occur for a given initiating event, which results in strengthening defense-in-depth level 3.

  • Recently, in OECD countries, youth unemployment has become one of the most serious problems in society. Entrepreneurship creates innovative new companies that create more jobs than big traditional companies. In addition, entrepreneurship develops creative human resources leading to fertile ground for new technology and business innovation. Recently, regulatory theory has drawn a lot of attention and interest in the literature of psychology and marketing management. However, the theory has not been applied to the study of entrepreneurship. In this article, we try to examine the relationship among regulatory focus, entrepreneurial orientation, and entrepreneurial intentions of korean college students who show their interests in entrepreneurship. From our empirical study, we find the followings. First, promotion focus thriving on optimism, taking risks, and trying new actively affect positively on entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial intention. Second, prevention focus concentrating on security, fulfilling responsibilities and maintaining efficiency does not always affect negatively on entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial intention. In other words, prevention-focused students do not always have bad impression on entrepreneurship and may consider entrepreneurship as viable career path similar to average college students. Third, our empirical findings are consistent with previous studies that entrepreneurial intention is positively affected by entrepreneurial orientation.

  • In this study, we examined the effects of University adaptation on career adaptation through self-leadership and learning commitment, and identified the regulatory effects of demographic characteristics (sex, grade, grade level, and willingness to work). To this end, we analyzed the data for 289 college students. The results of the study are as follows. First, adaptation to University life has a significant impact on learning commitment and self-leadership. However, adaptation to University life has an indirect effect on learning commitment and self-leadership rather than directly affecting career adaptation. Second, demographic characteristics have a regulatory effect on the path through which University adaptation affects career adaptation through self-leadership and learning commitment. The factors that were regulated were age, grade, and willingness to work. Therefore, in order to adapt to university life and adapt to career, we developed a program to improve self-leadership and learning commitment, and suggested that customized guidance is needed considering the differences in personal characteristics such as gender and academic background in university life and career counseling.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the plasma phosphoproteome and differential plasma phosphoproteins in cases of of Opisthorchis viverrini (OV)-related cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Plasma phosphoproteomes from CCA patients (10) and non-CCA subjects (5 each for healthy subjects and OV infection) were investigated using gel-based and solution-based LC-MS/MS. Phosphoproteins in plasma samples were enriched and analyzed by LC-MS/MS. STRAP, PANTHER, iPath, and MeV programs were applied for the identification of their functions, signaling and metabolic pathways; and for the discrimination of potential biomarkers in CCA patients and non-CCA subjects, respectively. A total of 90 and 60 plasma phosphoproteins were identified by gel-based and solution-based LC-MS/MS, respectively. Most of the phosphoproteins were cytosol proteins which play roles in several cellular processes, signaling pathways, and metabolic pathways (STRAP, PANTHER, and iPath analysis). The absence of serine/arginine repetitive matrix protein 3 (A6NNA2), tubulin tyrosine ligase-like family, member 6, and biorientation of chromosomes in cell division protein 1-like (Q8NFC6) in plasma phosphoprotein were identified as potential biomarkers for the differentiation of healthy subjects from patients with CCA and OV infection. To differentiate CCA from OV infection, the absence of both serine/threonine-protein phosphatase 2A 56 kDa regulatory subunit beta isoform and coiled-coil domain-containing protein 126 precursor (Q96EE4) were then applied. A combination of 5 phosphoproteins may new alternative choices for CCA diagnosis.

  • Purpose: Nursing informatics competency is used to manage and improve the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient healthcare services in accordance with best practices and professional and regulatory standards. This study examined the relationship between nursing informatics competency (NIC), nursing care left undone, and nurse reported quality of care (NQoC) and nursing productivity. A path model for their effects on nursing productivity among clinical nurses was also established. Methods: Data were collected using structured questionnaires answered by 192 nurses working in a tertiary hospital located in J city, Korea, and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0 and AMOS 21.0 program. Results: The fit indices of the alternative path model satisfied recommended levels χ2 = .11 (p = .741), normed χ22 /df) = .11, SRMR = .01, RMSEA = .00, GFI = 1.00, NFI = 1.00, AIC = 18.11. Among the variables, NIC (β = .44, p < .001), NQoC (β = .35, p < .001) had a direct effect on nursing productivity. Due to the mediating effect of NQoC on the relationship between NIC and nursing productivity, the effect size was .14 (95% CI .08~.24). Meanwhile, nursing care left undone through NQoC in the relationship between NIC and nursing productivity, has a significant mediation effect (estimate .01, 95% CI .00~.03). The explanatory power of variables was 44.0%. Conclusion: Education and training for enhancing NIC should be provided to improve nursing productivity, quality of care and to reduce missed nursing care. Furthermore, monitoring the quality of nursing care and using it as a productivity index is essential.

  • Shielding problems associated with neutron streaming through the reactor vessel cavity of pressurized water reactors are discussed to a certain extent with the actual examples in the currently operating reactors. Various remedial techniques are proposed herein to mitigate the tedious neutron streaming phenomena including piling up in heaps of temporary boron-containing bags and the installation of permanent shield structure making use of a certain refractory materials. In conclusion, optimum cavity shielding design concepts are presented with special emphasis on such major factors as the identification of major neutron streaming path, selection of necessary shielding materials with acceptable constraints, detailed design characteristics and physical configuration as well as the formulation of dependable mathematical tools to predict the final outcome of each design concept proposed in the context.

  • A new intelligent adaptive control scheme was proposed that combines the control based on interference observer and fuzzy adaptive s-curve for flight path tracking control of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The most important contribution is that the control configurations don't need to know the uncertainty limit of the vehicle and the influence of interference is removed. The proposed control law is an integration of fuzzy control estimator and adaptive proportional integral (PI) compensator with input. The rated feedback drive specifies the desired dynamic properties of the closed control loop based on the known properties of the preferred acceleration vector. At the same time, the adaptive PI control compensate for the unknown of perturbation. Additional terms such as s-surface control can ensure rapid convergence due to the non-linear representation on the surface and also improve the stability. In addition, the observer improves the robustness of the adaptive fuzzy system. It has been proven that the stability of the regulatory system can be ensured according to linear matrix equality based Lyapunov's theory. In summary, the numerical simulation results show the efficiency and the feasibility by the use of the robust control methodology.

  • This study was raised by the need to explain why the problems related to private parks have been sustained. In order to identify the fundamental cause, it is necessary to analyze the historical and institutional context of private parks. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the direction of change in the private park system and to derive the characteristics of the system as it currently appears. The framework based on the historical institutionalism was divided into the Park Act (1967-1980), the former of Urban Park Act (1980-1993) and the late of Urban Park Act (1993-2005), and each was assessed using the analysis elements of the institutional environment and the outcomes of implementation. The analysis elements interpreted the path dependency, in which the inertia toward the choice of institution is maintained, despite the change in the environment. The institution took a special form of 'negative systeme' and secured profitability by expanding the types of park facilities while mitigating the criteria. Additionally, the designation of private park promoters as a landowner acted as a means of compensating those with property rights to unexecuted urban parks. The expectation effectiveness on urban park creation was insufficient and the environmental regulatory functions were weakened. Thus, historically, the private park system in Korea has experienced an 'institutional decoupling' as the purpose of the system and the results of actual outcomes are not consistent.

  • Legislative and regulatory actions regarding the exhaust gas from ships are being strengthened by both international organizations and national governments, to protect human health and the environment. Exhaust gas traps are excluded from exhaust gas regulation applications, but, recently, the United States, Britain, and other developed countries have examined a variety of ways to improve the system, including the introduction of electric propulsion systems to prevent air pollution generated by naval ships. This study investigates a large number of smoke problems of naval diesel engines to verify the effect of improving the nozzle characteristics. An exhaust gas emission measurement method to determine the quality of pollutant exhaust gas generated during low-load operation is proposed through the research methodology of the smoke problem. It was confirmed that the emissions value is improved by decreasing the nozzle hole diameter and increasing the injection pressure. At the same time, the flow rate decrease equation and setting up a test memo based on the nozzle diameter confirmed that the fuel consumption, to which the nozzle diameter in the flow path is related, is reduced.
