  • The chi-square type test statistic is the most commonly used test in terms of measuring testing goodness-of-fit for multinomial logistic regression model, which has its grouped data (binomial data) and ungrouped (binary) data classified by a covariate pattern. Chi-square type statistic is not a satisfactory gauge, however, because the ungrouped Pearson chi-square statistic does not adhere well to the chi-square statistic and the ungrouped Pearson chi-square statistic is also not a satisfactory form of measurement in itself. Currently, goodness-of-fit in the ordinal setting is often assessed using the Pearson chi-square statistic and deviance tests. These tests involve creating a contingency table in which rows consist of all possible cross-classifications of the model covariates, and columns consist of the levels of the ordinal response. I examined goodness-of-fit tests for a proportional odds logistic regression model-the most commonly used regression model for an ordinal response variable. Using a simulation study, I investigated the distribution and power properties of this test and compared these with those of three other goodness-of-fit tests. The new test had lower power than the existing tests; however, it was able to detect a greater number of the different types of lack of fit considered in this study. I illustrated the ability of the tests to detect lack of fit using a study of aftercare decisions for psychiatrically hospitalized adolescents.

  • During the development process of a thermal-hydraulic system code, a non-regression test (NRT) must be performed repeatedly in order to prevent software regression. The NRT process, however, is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Thus, automation of this process is an ideal solution. In this study, we have developed a program to support an efficient NRT for the SPACE code and demonstrated its usability. This results in a high degree of efficiency for code development. The program was developed using the Visual Basic for Applications and designed so that it can be easily customized for the NRT of other computer codes.

  • Software maintenance is one of the major activities of the software development life cycle. Due to the time and cost constraint it is not possible to perform exhaustive regression testing. Thus, there is a need for a technique that selects and prioritizes the effective and important test cases so that the testing effort is reduced. In an analogous study we have proposed a new variable based algorithm that works on variables using the hybrid technique. However, in the real world the programs consist of multiple modules. Hence, in this work we propose a regression testing algorithm that works on interprocedural programs. In order to validate and analyze this technique we have used various programs. The result shows that the performance and accuracy of this technique is very high.

  • It is necessary to check the linearity of selected covariates in regression diagnostics. There are various graphical methods using residual plots such as partial residual plots, augmented partial residual plots and combining conditional expectation and residual plots. In this paper, we propose the modified pseudolikelihood ratio test statistics based on these residual plots to test linearity of selected covariate. These test statistics which measure the distance between the nonparametric and parametric models are derived as a ratio of quadratic forms. The approximate distribution of these statistics is calculated numerically by using three moments. The power comparison of these statistics is given.

  • For testing $\beta_i=\beta, i=1,...,k$, in the regression model $Y_{ij} = \alpha_i + \beta_ix_{ij} + e_{ij}, j=1,...,n_i$, a simple and robust test based on Kendall's tau is proposed. Its asymptotic distribution is proved to be chi-square under the null hypthesis and noncentral chi-square under an appropriate sequence of alternatives. For the optimal designs, the asymptotic relative efficiency of the proposed procedure with respect to the least squares procedure is the same as that of the Wilcoxon test with respect to the t-test.

  • This paper suggests a nonparametric test for the parallelism of several regression lines against ordered alternatives. The test statistic is an extension of the Potthoff statistic. The asymptotic variance of the proposed statistic is estimated by Bootstrap method. The proposed test are compared with the Adichie's parametric and nonparametric tests.

  • Distribution-free estimation methods are proposed for slope, $\beta$ in the simple linear regression model. In this paper, we suggest the point estimators using the sequential slope based on sign test and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Also confidence intervals are presented for each estimation methods. Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to compare the efficiency of these methods with least square method and Theil´s method. Some properties for the proposed methods are discussed.

  • Repeated measurement data between two group is often used in the field of medicine study. In this paper, we suggest a method for comparison of the trend between two groups based on repeated measurement data. First, we estimate regression coefficient of linear regression model from each subject and generate samples using the regression coefficient estimated previous. And then, we test the difference between two groups by unpaired t-test, Wilcoxon rank sum test and placement test using generated samples. Monte Carlo Simulation is adapted to examine the power and experimental significance levels of several methods in various combinations.

  • The maintenance of legacy software systems is very important in the field of a software engineering. In the maintenance, a regression test confirms the behavior preserving of the software which has been changed but most of regression tests are done in a system level and rarely done in a unit test level because there is no test case. This paper proposes how to modify legacy software systems and make unit test cases as an asset. It uses a technique with a specific module of a real software development project and analyzes test coverage results. After this, if a study about automatic restructuring techniques and a test case generation proceeds continuously, we can expect the big advance of legacy software systems maintenance.

  • This paper consider the testing problem of grouped heteroscedasticity in the linear regression model. We provide the Lagrange Multiplier(LM), Wald, Likelihood Ratio (LR) test statistis for testing of grouped heteroscedasticity. Monte Carlo experiments are conducted to study the performance of these tests.
