All public libraries are local public goods and cultural infrastructures whose ideological pillars are publicly operated, free, and open to all. This identity is justified when the public library provides various knowledge information, various programs, and community space to local residents within the service area, and ultimately contributes to the cultural development of the nation and society. To this end, the country and local governments must expand the number of individuals that meet legal standards, deploy competent professionals, and provide facilities and spaces that are easy to access and use. However, if there is a gap in infrastructure and services between regional public libraries, it causes inequality in access and use of residents, which inevitably leads to information gap and cultural welfare gap. Therefore, this study was analyzed the relative gap using the location quotient, key infrastructure indicators and service indicators of public libraries of regional government in Korea and basic local government in the Chungnam region from the viewpoint that the balanced development and capacity building of public libraries must precede the establishment of a public library in Chungnam region as a life-friendly knowledge information service institution, culture enjoyment and lifelong learning space. Based on the results, a method to resolve the gap was suggested by dividing the elements of gaps in public libraries into accessibility, core infrastructure, and services, focusing on vulnerable cities and counties in the Chungnam region.

The purpose of this study is to conceptually define "spatial inclusivity" and empirically examine the impact of disability severity and spatial inclusivity on social participation among individuals experiencing physical discomfort. The social and spatial environment of the residential area is crucial for individuals with disabilities who face limited activity range and complex barriers due to physical constraints. In this study, spatial inclusivity from the perspective of people with disabilities is defined as establishment of equal relationships with non-disabled individuals within the local community, as well as the availability of basic facilities and services in a safe urban space that allows for access and utilization. This concept consists of three dimensions: individual networks, social environment, and physical environment. The physical environment encompasses safety levels, natural environment, living environment, public transportation conditions, medical services in residential areas. We used the 2019 Community Health Survey to examine the relationship between disability severity, spatial inclusivity, and social participation using a two level regression model. The findings are as follows: Firstly, personal relationships at the individual level and the physical environment at the local level have a positive impact on social participation. Secondly, when identifying dividing the physical environment into five sub-factors, no significant influence of individual factors is found. Thirdly, trustworthy and friendly social environment at the local level has a negative impact on social participation. These results provide empirical evidence that spatial inclusivity has an effect on the social participation of individuals with disabilities and suggest implications for urban planning to create and enhance conditions for the social participation of individuals with disabilities.
Based on the challenges encountered in the urban regeneration projects (general neighborhood-type) of Anjung District and Sinjang District in Pyeongtaek City, this study aims to explore the key factors of improvement measures for urban regeneration projects. Using the first survey conducted among shopping mall owners, employees, and residents, this study finds a significant level of awareness and very strong needs for urban regeneration projects. On the other hand, the overall satisfaction levels are observed to be low across the three factors: social, economic, and cultural. The second expert survey and the subsequent Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis conducted for improvement measures reveal notable discrepancies in the prioritization of factors between administrative experts and practical experts. For the importance of administrative experts, the establishment of network-type regional governance was ranked first for the importance, followed by hosting events related to the U.S. military and long-term pre-market operations, and expanding exchange and cooperation between the U.S. Forces Korea and the community. For the importance of working-level experts, hosting U.S. military-related events and long-term pre-market operations was ranked first, while supporting U.S. military-related festivals and developing local natural landscape resources was ranked second. Our findings suggest the need for proactive measures such as attracting commercial facilities to stimulate demand from both the U.S. military and local residents, thereby revitalizing general neighborhood-type urban regeneration projects, developing programs for local tourism, and operating pre-market operations in the long run. Therefore, this study highlights the importance of regional government cooperation for urban regeneration projects.
The average income of forestry household was only 54.3% of urban workers's and 67.6% of farms household's income based on the data from statistics Korea in 2012. This indicates that forestry, which is a labor-intensive primary industry, has the limitation for creating added value. On the other hand, the demands for forest healing and forest experiential program have been continuously increased with new lifestyle focusing on the quality of life and increased leisure time. Therefore, it is necessary to establish comprehensive policies to increase added value except forestry to respond forest demands. The project utilizing forest healing can be on of solutions to meet forest demands. Thus, this research intends to investigate an economic revitalization plan for mountain villages with forest healing. The characteristics of forest healing facilities and contents of forest healing programs were examined through internet searching, fields surveys, and expert interviews. Total 186 concepts, 8 categories, and 24 subcategories were derived from raw data of surveys. The application process of forest healing was also provided to encourage local economy of mountain areas. This research offers application procedure of the forest healing for regional economic vitalization in Mountain Villages interviews using grounded theory by Strauss and Corbin(1988) as well as NVio11. This research contributes to prepare the base of future quantitative studies by providing strategies and suggestions for the application plans of forest healing programs. In addition, this research offers basic data for the policies to establish and manage forest healing villages.
Due to economic development and increasing gross national income, the number of automobiles continues to rise, leading to a serious issue of illegal parking due to limited road conditions and insufficient parking facilities. Illegal parking causes significant inconvenience and displeasure to people and can even result in accidents and loss of lives. The severity of accidents and their consequences, related to the growing number of vehicles and illegal parking, is escalating, particularly in the metropolitan areas. Consequently, efforts are being made to address this problem as a cause of social issues and come up with measures to reduce illegal parking. In particular, half of the public complaints in the metropolitan area are related to illegal parking, and the highest physical and human damage occurs in Gyeonggi. Thus, this study aims to use machine learning techniques based on data related to illegal parking in Suwon city, Gyeonggi, to categorize regional characteristics and propose effective measures to crack down on illegal parking. Additionally, practical, social, policy, and legal measures to decrease illegal parking in the metropolitan area are suggested. This study has academic significance in that it solved the problem of illegal parking, which is mentioned as one of the social problems that cause traffic congestion, by classifying regional characteristics using K-prototype, a machine learning algorithm. Furthermore, the results of this study contribute to practical and social aspects by providing measures to decrease illegal parking in the metropolitan area.

The purpose of this study is to explore urban issues that have arisen in the urban growth process of the 1st New Town for about 34 years since its construction through newspaper articles. For this purpose, newspaper articles related to the 1st New Town were collected using web crawling, and content analysis was conducted based on text mining. The main findings of the study are as follows. First, in the early stages of the construction of the 1st New Town, issues were diverse in the following six sectors: living service facilities, real estate, transportation, urban development and maintenance, safety, and housing supply, but gradually narrowed down to those of real estate and urban development and maintenance. Second, during the new town construction and urban stabilization stages, the network structure centered on 'Seoul' was maintained, which can be explained by the fact that the 1st New Town was geographically located on the outskirts of Seoul, and many articles compared the issues to Seoul. Third, the issue of urban aging appeared from the 10th year after construction, and the discussion on urban reorganization due to urban aging began in earnest from the 30th year after construction. The significance of the study is that it explored the urban issues that occurred throughout the urban growth process of the 1st New Town, and can be used as a basis for preparing a plan to reorganize the 1st New Town.
Chungbuk has various regional characteristics in terms of population composition by region, industrial facilities, and distribution of emergency medical institutions. However, there are no studies yet that have analyzed regional characteristic factors related to the occurrence characteristics of cardiac arrest patients. Therefore, this study provided basic data to establish a response system for OHCA patients suitable for the characteristics of the Chungcheongbuk-do region by analyzing the characteristics of OHCA patients and the transfer status of 119 paramedics in Chungcheongbuk-do. This study is a retrospective study that analyzed 1,188 cardiac arrest patients transferred by ambulance based on raw data from the survey on acute cardiac arrest in Chungbuk (2020). There are a total of 11 emergency medical institutions in Chungbuk-do, which are concentrated in city-level areas, so the transfer time of patients to hospitals in county-level areas was delayed. In the county-level area, the frequency of dispatch of special paramedics was relatively small, and the frequency of administration of cardiac arrest drugs to help resuscitate cardiac arrest patients was also low. In conclusion, efforts should be made to improve accessibility of emergency medical services (deployment of emergency vehicles in marginal areas, proper placement of emergency medical institutions, etc.), to promote prevention of traumatic cardiac arrest patients, and to expand the scope of work to strengthen the first aid expertise of paramedics.
It is possible to provide Smart Tourism Service through the development of information technology. It is necessary for the tourism industry to understand and utilize Big Data that has tourists' consumption patterns and service usage patterns in order to continuously create a new business model by converging with other industries. This study suggests to activate Jeju Smart Tourism by analyzing Big Data based on credit card usage records and location of tourists in Jeju. The results of the study show that First, the percentage of Chinese tourists visiting Jeju has decreased because of the effect of THAAD. Second, Consumption pattern of Chinese tourists is mostly occurring in the northern areas where airports and duty-free shops are located, while one in other regions is very low. The regional economy of Jeju City and Seogwipo City shows a overall stagnation, without changes in policy, existing consumption trends and growth rates will continue in line with regional characteristics. Third, we need a policy that young people flow into by building Jeju Multi-complex Mall where they can eat, drink, and go shopping at once because the number of young tourists and the price they spend are increasing. Furthermore, it is necessary to provide services for life-support related to weather, shopping, traffic, and facilities etc. through analyzing Wi-Fi usage location. Based on the results, we suggests the marketing strategies and public policies for understanding Jeju tourists' patterns and stimulating Jeju tourism industry.

The purpose of this study is to develop a practical and ideal model of science laboratory enrolled 48-60 students by studying optimal facilities such as laboratory tables and chairs proper to elementary school settings. The science laboratory model was figured out in terms of the following six procedures; (1) Current status as well as problems of science laboratory and its facilities was identified by means of the questionnaires conducted to 201 elementary schools, using stratified cluster sampling tehnique, under the consideration of the school size and the regional characteristics across the country. (2) Collected were the anthropometric data with respect to sitting height, popliteal height, buttock popliteal length, elbow rest height, and back width from the 747 students, 4th-6th grade, in Seoul area. (3) It was measured the work apace necessary for individual student to perform his experiment. (4) Using the data of the process (2), we determined the optimal sizes of laboratory tables and chairs fitted for Korean elementary school students. (5) The optimal area of science laboratory for 48-60 students is determined in terms of the data obtained in (3) for individual work space in addition to the appropriate table size figured out by (4). (6) A practical and ideal model for a science laboratory in elementary school was designed according to the above procedures. For the optimal model of science laboratory, the results of this study can be summarized as follows: The sizes of chair and table are categorized into three groups such as small, medium, and large depending on students' physical outfit. The small size base on the 12.5th percentile point of students' sitting height is used for students of the 0-25th percentile ranks. The medium size base on the 50th percentile point of students' sitting height is used for students of the 26-75th percentile ranks. The large size base on the 87.5th percentile point of students' sitting height is used for students of the 76-100th percentile ranks. (1) Sizes of chairs: The small size is 28cm in width and 33cm in height. The medium size is 31cm in width and 36cm in height. The large size is 35cm in width and 38cm in height. (2) Sizes of laboratory tables: The small size is 120cm in length, 86cm in width, and 60cm in height. The large size is 120cm in length, 86cm in width, and 60cm in height. The large size is 120cm in length, 86cm in width, and 65cm in height. (3) Size of science laboratory: The optimal science laboratory for 48-60 elementary school students, which can install the 12 laboratory tables, is 12m in length and 10m in width.
The basic objective of this study is to suggest the city image ideas and methods of application based on the analysis of the regional characteristics and image factors in making proposal for integrated design for public facilities. Through understanding and analyzing natural, environmental, industrial characteristics, the city was subdivided into urban, marine, inland, and industrial complex areas. Also, local residents' attitude survey and the city's cultural iconic image survey analysis was performed simultaneously, and the survey results were used to establish the strategy for Pohang's city design identity and were applied in public facility design development process. Developing from the identity motive, "texture", the images of "iron", "marine", "science" were selected as core image of identity and were applied as design factors. Four unique colors were selected for each areas based on scenery color analysis. For facilities that needed to be installed separately in all four areas, "application of color and material consistency" and "application of shape consistency and partial color diversity consistency" were suggested to integrate the image of the city as a whole through establishing distinctive image for each area.
