In this paper, the input pattern vectors are extracted and the learning algorithms is designed to recognize taste(bitter, sweet, sour and salty) pattern vectors. The signal intensity of taste are used to compose the input pattern vectors. The SOM(Self Organizing Maps) algorithm for taste pattern recognition is used to learn initial reference vectors and the ot-star learning algorithm is used to determine the class of the output neurons of the sunclass layer. The weights of the proposed algorithm which is between the input layer and the subclass layer can be learned to determine initial reference vectors by using SOM algorithm and to learn reference vectors by using LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization) algorithm. The pattern vectors are classified into subclasses by neurons in the subclass layer, and the weights between subclass layer and output layer are learned to classify the classified subclass, which is enclosed a class. To classify the pattern vectors, the proposed algorithm is simulated with ones of the conventional LVQ, and it is confirmed that the proposed learning method is more successful classification than the conventional LVQ.

This paper proposed a speed control system for induction motors robust to variations in torque and parameters by feedforward compensating the current portion of load torque, adding a load torque observer to the conventional PI controller in the indirect vector controlled induction motor system. Computer simulations and exeperimental works using the proposed control confirm that the transient response for the variation of the reference speed and load torque becomes improved, compared with the conventional PI controled method.
A method for obtaining optimal orbital maneuvers of a space vehicle has been developed by combining feedback linearization method with the elegance of the Lambert's theorem. To obtain solutions to nonlinear orbital maneuver problems. The full nonlinear equations of motion for space vehicle in polar coordinate system are transformed exactly into a controllable linear set in Brunovsky canonical form by using feedback linearization by choosing position vector as fully observable output vector. These equations are used to pose a linear optimal tracking problem with a solutions to Lambert's problem and a linear analytical solution of continuous low thrust problem as reference trajectories.
This paper addresses estimation of the relative shift vector from aerial image sequences. We perform similarity function tests and decide the most appropriate similarity function for the visual navigation system using aerial images. Finally, we propose the maximum variance reference line selection method for reducing the estimation error of the shift vector.
A novel control strategy for the induction motor drive, based on the field acceleration method, is presented. The torque is controlled through variations of the stator flux angular velocity. The stator flux is controlled by using a feed forward control scheme, with the stator flux reference vector adjusted so as to obtain the fixed rotor flux amplitude.
This paper introduces a new pulse-width modulation (PWM) method to reduce common-mode voltages (CMVs) and compare its performance with other reduced CMV-PWM (RCMV-PWM) methods. To avoid the use of zero-vectors which cause high CMV peaks, the introduced method splits every reference vector into two vectors such that the peak-to-peak magnitude of CMV is reduced by one-third of conventional space-vector PWM (SVPWM). The performance of RCMV-PWMs altered by the modulation index are analyzed with simulation results.

The Park's vector of stator current is a popular technique for the detection of induction motor faults. While the detection of the faulty condition using the Park's vector technique is easy, the classification of different types of faults is intricate. This problem is overcome by the Multiple Park's Vector (MPV) approach proposed in this paper. In this technique, the characteristic fault frequency component (CFFC) of stator winding faults, rotor winding faults, unbalanced voltage and bearing faults are extracted from three phase stator currents. Due to constructional asymmetry, under the healthy condition these characteristic fault frequency components are unbalanced. In order to balanced them, a correction factor is added to the characteristic fault frequency components of three phase stator currents. Therefore, the Park's vector pattern under the healthy condition is circular in shape. This pattern is considered as a reference pattern under the healthy condition. According to the fault condition, the amplitude and phase of characteristic faults frequency components changes. Thus, the pattern of the Park's vector changes. By monitoring the variation in multiple Park's vector patterns, the type of fault and its severity level is identified. In the proposed technique, the diagnosis of faults is immune to the effects of unbalanced voltage and multiple faults. This technique is verified on a 7.5 hp three phase wound rotor induction motor (WRIM). The experimental analysis is verified by simulation results.

This paper presents a fast multi-reference frame integer motion estimator for H.264/AVC. The proposed system uses the previously proposed fast multi-reference frame algorithm. The previously proposed algorithm executes a full search area motion estimation in reference frames 0 and 1. After that, the search areas of motion estimation in reference frames 2, 3 and 4 are minimized by a linear relationship between the motion vector and the distances from the current frame to the reference frames. For hardware implementation, the modified algorithm optimizes the search area, reduces the overlapping search area and modifies a division equation. Because the search area is reduced, the amount of computation is reduced by 58.7%. In experimental results, the modified algorithm shows an increase of bit-rate in 0.36% when compared with the five reference frame standard. The pipeline structure and the memory controller are also adopted for real-time video encoding. The proposed system is implemented using 0.13 um CMOS technology, and the gate count is 1089K with 6.50 KB of internal SRAM. It can encode a Full HD video ($1920{\times}1080P@30Hz$) in real-time at a 135 MHz clock speed with 5 reference frames.

This paper presents a direct adaptive pole placement control scheme which is applicable to discretetime non-minimum phase systems. It is proved that by this scheme the poles can be placed at the desired locations and the overall state vector of the system is uniformly bounded if the reference input is sufficiently rich, and also proved that in case of insufficiently rich reference input the overall system can still be stabilized though the poles may not be placed exactly at the desired locations. The effectiveness of this scheme is verified by digital computer simulations.
In is paper, a novel dead time compensation method is presented which produces inverter output voltages equal to reference voltages. An experimental result is also presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method. The reference voltage can be used as a feedback value, which is essential for sensorless vector control and flux estimation. The method can be carried out automatically by an inverter controller for initial set-up without any extra hardware.
