[ $SrTiO_3$ ] red phosphors doped with Pr, Er and Al were synthesized by solid state reaction method. Three emission peaks in photoluminescence spectra of the $SrTiO_3:Eu$ Phosphors were observed at 583 nm, 610 nm and 685 nm. The emission peaks in the $SrTiO_3:Eu$ phosphors were associated with charge-transfer states. The decrease of photoluminescence intensity in $SrTiO_3:Eu,Al$ phosphors with doping Al ions was interpreted by the change of charge-transfer states.
Nowadays, the glare towards the light-emitting diode (LED) lighting source has much attention due to its eco-friendly nature, reduced energy consumption, and low CO2 emission. LEDs can show versatile colors by changing the composition ratio of semiconductors. Phosphors re-emit light by absorbing light from LED, which is the key factor for emission. The endeavor to make replica of natural white light is increasing day by day. Industrially, blue LED chip crowned with a yellow phosphor coated lens gives low quality white light. Newly, many researchers are introducing modern approaches, adding red phosphor to the yellow phosphor to increase the quality of white light. Here, we synthesized structurally and chemically stable europium doped oxyapatite Ca8Gd2(PO4)6O2 nano-crystalline structures by a hydrothermal method. The ultrafine structures were formed due to the effect of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, which is confirmed by the transmission electron microscope images. The structural properties were analyzed using the X-ray diffraction patterns.

Significant research interest in the growth and characterization of $Y_2$O$_3$:Eu$^{3+}$ thin films has been shown over the last few years because of the promise for applications of display devices. Although an Eu-doped oxysulfide (Eu: $Y_2$O$_2$S) which has an efficiency of 13% has been used for a traditional cathode ray tube (CRT) red phosphor, the sulfide system is known to degrade rapidly under the high current densities needed for field-emission display (FED) technology. Large band gap attenuation of CdS nanoclusters in hybrid sol gel matrix comprised of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMSPM), 15 wt. % zirconium, and various amounts of cadmium acetate was observed after $H_2S$ exposure. Hybrid sol gel matrixes were prepared by hydrolysis and condensation reactions. The sol gels contained with various amount of cadmium acetate were spin coated to glass substrates and exposed to $H_2S$ gas. The UV-visible absorption peaks were shifted toward blue with increasing the amount of CdS nanoclusters and were shifted to the red after thermal process. Significant amount of -OH absorption peaks were reduced after thermal process. Strong room temperature photoluminescence (PL) of CdS nanoclusters was observed after exposing to $H_2S$ gas. The PL intensity increased for several minutes and slowly decreased thereafter. The luminescence peaks were continuously shifted toward blue as the time passed. Extraordinary Stokes shift (approximately 160 nm) was observed.
Design and syntheses of four red phosphorescent heteroleptic cationic iridium(III) complexes containing two substituted phenylquinoxaline (pqx) or benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl-pyridin (btp) main ligands and one 2,2'-biimidazole (H2biim) ancillary ligand are reported: [$(pqx)_2$Ir(biim)]Cl (1), [$(dmpqx)_2$Ir(biim)]Cl (2), [$(dfpqx)_2$Ir(biim)]Cl (3), [$(btp)_2$Ir(biim)]Cl (4). Complex 1 showed a distorted octahedral geometry around the iridium(III) metal ion with cis metallated carbons and trans nitrogen atoms. The absorption, emission and electrochemical properties were systematically evaluated. The complexes exhibited red phosphorescence in the spectral range of 580 to 620 nm with high quantum efficiencies of 0.58 - 0.78 in both solution and solid-state at room temperature depending on the cyclometalated main ligands. The cyclic voltammetry of the complexes (1-3) showed a metal-centered irreversible oxidation in the range of 1.40 to 1.90 V as well as two quasi reversible reduction waves from -1.15 to -1.45 V attributed to the sequential addition of two electrons to the more electron accepting heterocyclic portion of two distinctive cyclometalated main ligands, whereas complex 4 showed a reversible oxidation potential at 1.24 V and irreversible reduction waves at -1.80 V.
$YNbO_4:Yb^{3+}/Er^{3+}$ is synthesized using a solid-state reaction process with a LiCl flux. The effects of the Er/(Yb+Er) ratios ($R_{Er}$) on the up-conversion (UC) and down-conversion (DC) spectra are investigated. The XRD data confirm that the $Yb^{3+}$ and $Er^{3+}$ ions are fully substituted for the $Y^{3+}$ sites. The UC emission spectra activated by 980 nm consists of green and red emission bands, which originate from the $Er^{3+}$ ions through an energy transfer (ET) process from $Yb^{3+}$ to $Er^{3+}$. The UC emission intensity depends on the $R_{Er}$ value, and the findings demonstrate that $R_{Er}{\leq}0.14$ is suitable for an effective UC process. The DC emission spectra under 269 nm radiation of the synthesized powders exhibits not only a strong blue emission assigned to the $[NbO_4]^{3-}$ niobates, but also green peaks that originate from the $Er^{3+}$ ions through an ET process between $[NbO_4]^{3-}$ and $Er^{3+}$.
$Y_2$$_{-x}$G $d_{x}$$O_3$:E $u^{3+}$(x=0.0, 0.3, 0.6, 1.0, 1.4) luminescent thin films have been grown on Si (100) substrates using pulsed laser deposition. The films grown under different deposition conditions have been characterized using microstructural and luminescent measurements. The crystallinity, the surface morphology and photoluminescence (PL) of the films are highly dependent on the amount of Gd. The photoluminescence (PL) brightness data obtained from $Y_2$$_{-x}$G $d_{x}$$O_3$:E $u^{3+}$ films grown under optimized conditions have indicated that Si (100) is one of promised substrates for the growth of high quality $Y_2$$_{-x}$G $d_{x}$$O_3$:E $u^{3+}$ thin film red phosphor. In particular, the incorporation of Gd into $Y_2$$O_3$ lattice could induce a remarkable increase of PL. The highest emission intensity was observed with $Y_{1.35}$G $d_{0.60}$$O_3$: $E^{3+}$, whose brightness was increased by a factor of 1.95 in comparison with that of $Y_2$$O_3$:E $u^{3+}$ films.3+/ films.films.lms.

New triple tungstate phosphors NaPbLa(WO4)3:Yb3+/Ho3+ (x = Yb3+/Ho3+ = 7, 8, 9, 10) are successfully fabricated by microwave assisted sol-gel synthesis and their structural and frequency upconversion (UC) characteristics are investigated. The compounds crystallized in the tetragonal space group I41/a and the NaPbLa(WO4)3 host have unit cell parameters a = 5.3927(1) and c = 11.7961(3) Å, V = 343.05(2) Å3, Z = 4. Under excitation at 980 nm, the phosphors have yellowish green emissions, which are derived from the intense 5S2/5F4→5I8 transitions of Ho3+ ions in the green spectral range and strong 5F5→5I8 transitions in the red spectral range. The optimal Yb3+:Ho3+ ratio is revealed to be x = 9, which is attributed to the quenching effect of Ho3+ ions, as indicated by the composition dependence. The UC characteristics are evaluated in detail under consideration of the pump power dependence and Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage chromaticity. The spectroscopic features of Raman spectra are discussed in terms of the superposition of Ho3+ luminescence and vibrational lines. The possibility of controlling the spectral distribution of UC luminescence by the chemical content of tungstate hosts is demonstrated.
