  • Multiple-count problem is occurred when rectangle objects span across several buckets. The Cumulative Density (CD) histogram is a technique which solves multiple-count problem by keeping four sub-histograms corresponding to the four points of rectangle. Although it provides exact results with constant response time, there is still a considerable issue. Since it is based on a query window which aligns with a given grid, a number of errors may be occurred when it is applied to real applications. In this paper, we proposed selectivity estimation techniques using the generalized cumulative density histogram based on two probabilistic models: (1) probabilistic model which considers the query window area ratio, (2) probabilistic model which considers intersection area between a given grid and objects. In order to evaluate the proposed methods, we experimented with real dataset and experimental results showed that the proposed technique was superior to the existing selectivity estimation techniques. The proposed techniques can be used to accurately quantify the selectivity of the spatial range query on rectangle objects.

다중 폴드 이중 사각루프형태의 이중 모노폴 안테나 (Multi Folded Dual rectangle loop Type Dual Monopole Antenna)

  • In this paper, multi folded dual monopole antenna for WLAN communication of dual bend is designed and fabricated. The proposed multi folded dual monopole antenna are consisted of two folded rectangle loops by microstrip fed that is modified dual monopole antenna. Therefore, the outside rectangle loop structure of the proposed antenna is extended a dual monopole. The characteristics of the proposed antenna is analyzed return loss and radiation patterns by the FDTD tools. As a result a bandwidth of proposed antenna has about 0.82GHz from 2.0 to 2.82[GHz] and 0.7GHz from 5.46 to 6.16[GHz]. It is used WLAN communications of 2[GHz] and 5[GHz].

  • The power industry is currently facing many challenges, due to the new environment created by the introduction of smart grid technologies. In particular, the large-scale deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) may have a significant impact on demand for electricity and, thereby, influence generation and transmission system planning. However, it is difficult to deal with uncertainties in EV charging loads using deterministic planning methods. This paper presents a two-stage stochastic decomposition method with Latin-hyper rectangle sampling (LHRS) to solve the integrated generation and transmission planning problem incorporating EV deployment. The probabilistic distribution of EV charging loads is estimated by Latin-hyper rectangle sampling (LHRS) to enhance the computational performance of the proposed method. Numerical results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

피타고라스의 정리 III : 등각사각형의 관점에서 (Pythagorean Theorem III : From the perspective of equiangular quadrilaterals)

  • Pythagorean theorem is a proposition on the relationship between the lengths of three sides of a right triangle. It is well known that Pythagorean theorem for Euclidean geometry deforms into an interesting form in non-Euclidean geometry. In this paper, we investigate a new perspective that replaces right triangles with 'proper triangles' so that Pythagorean theorem extends to non-Euclidean geometries without any modification. This is seen from the perspective that a rectangle is an equiangular quadrilateral, and a right triangle is a half of a rectangle. Surprisingly, a proper triangle (defined by Paolo Maraner), which is a half of an equiangular quadrilateral, satisfies Pythagorean theorem in many geometries, including hyperbolic geometry and spherical geometry.

  • In the recent years, the production of light-weight products has become important because of increasing demands for the energy savings through weight reduction. Therefore the advanced manufacturing technology with Al alloy is continuously required in many industrial fields. Bending characteristics of Al rectangular tube with hollow and solid section has been analyzed by FE analysis in press bending with wing-die. Bending stress is affected by punch stroke and rotation of wing-die. There were different sectional sagging characteristics between the solid rectangle section and the hollow rectangle section.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for power estimation in nodes of multi-level combinational circuits and describe its application to the extraction of common expressions for low power design. It is assumed that each node is implemented as a complex gate and the capacitance and the switching activity of the nodes are considered in the power estimation. Extracting common expressions which is accomplished mostly by the extraction of kernels, can be transformed to the problem of rectangle covering. We describe how the newly proposed estimation method can be applied to the rectangle covering problem and show the experimental results with comparisons to the results of SIS-1.2.

  • Given the flow matrix, plant size (rectangle shape) and department sizes, the algorithm in this paper provides the plant layout with rectilinear distance measure. To construct automated facility design, eigenvector approach is employed. A branch and bound computer code developed by Tillinghast is modified to find the feasible fits of departments without shape distortion (see [1])in the plant rectangle. The computational results compared with CRAFT are shown.

  • Recently, there has been much interest in magnetic thin film patterned in submicron scale because of possible ultrahigh density storage media or logical device applications [1-3]. Various geometries such as rectangle, circle, ring and ellipse type dots have been studied to find the shape showing stable switching behavior from repeated cycles. However, rectangle and circle types may not be suitable for device applications because they have two uncontrollable different magnetization reversal modes: C state and S state, resulting in different coercivity and irreproducible switching[4].   • Fishes usually form a group in water to minimize drag coefficient and this fish schooling is one of representative problems in computational fluid dynamics. In this research, we simulated two fishes as a rectangle. We arranged rectangle horizontal and vertical, then we changed distance between two rectangles and simulated pressure of fluid and drag coefficient. We could find the best distance and position of two fishes that makes minimum drag coefficient.
