다면적 접근을 통한 대학의 좋은 수업 특성 분석 (Analysis of Good College Teaching Characteristics by multi-faceted approach)

  • As the college environment changes, the roles of professors and students should also be changed. And the way that we teach undergraduate students should also be changed. The purpose of this research is to analysis characteristics of good teaching methods in college as perceived by students and professors. We did content analysis to elicit the characteristics of good instruction from qualitative comments of 196 course evaluations, 195 excellent essays selected from 8 college essay competitions, and 72 teaching knowhow essays of professors. To see the difference of division in good instruction characteristics, we did frequency analysis by SPSS statistics program. According to the content analysis, the most essential characteristics of good instruction as perceived by the students and professors is teaching strategies. There were also differences in the fact of recognition transition by division and the students-professors.

Korean Students' Perceptions of Free-talking and International Professors' Role Recognition

  • Free-talking in Korea has recently been emphasized as a way of improving students' speaking ability outside of the classroom. The purpose of this study is to examine perceptions of free-talking, to understand what type of roles were played by or allotted between Korean students and international professors (IPs) and to look for effective speaking strategies for utilizing free-talking. Participants of this study were 68 university students and 23 IPs. The data collected through a survey type of questionnaire were analyzed by this researcher and the main findings indicate that students and IPs have somewhat different viewpoints about their concepts of free-talking. Students expressed varying viewpoints depending on their experience and class (year). In terms of the benefits, usefulness, and satisfaction of free-talking, students and IPs seem to be in more agreement with each other although the two groups have conflicting perceptions in the particular operation of free-talking, especially in terms of preparation and feedback. Students stated that they feel anxious, nervous, and that they struggle with peer pressure while free-talking. However, they feel that through free-talking they build up confidence and increase their speaking ability. Regarding roles, most professors play a helpful role as a guide or facilitator while students want professors to provide more suitable materials and to tutor them by means of appropriate feedback and strategies as well-prepared teachers like a prompter, participant or tutor in the timely manner. Finally, this paper proffers a few practical suggestions for activating free-talking and a discussion of the pedagogical implications.

코로나19 비대면 수업 환경에서 대학생들과 교수의 학업중단 인식 (University Students and Professors' Recognition of Dropout In Covid-19 Non-Face-To-Face Classroom Environment)

  • 코로나19로 대학 학사운영이 원활하게 이루어지지 못하고 대부분 비대면 수업으로 진행되자, 학생들의 학업중단은 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 이 연구에서는 코로나19 비대면 수업환경에 대한 물리학과 대학생들의 인식과 교수들의 인식, 코로나19 비대면 수업환경이 학생들의 학업중단에 미치는 영향을 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 실시하여 분석하고 그 결과를 바탕으로 코로나 19 비대면 수업이 물리교육에 주는 시사점을 제시하였다. 물리학과 학생들은 코로나19로 인한 비대면 수업에 대해 '몸은 편한데 마음은 불편한 비대면 수업', '나보다 똑똑한 사람이 책 읽어주면서 설명하는 느낌', '짧은 동영상 강의, 편하지만 손해라는 기분'이라고 하였으며, 교수들 역시 '완전 180도 바뀐 수업체계', '부담감이 많은 온라인 수업'이라고 하였다. 학업중단에 대해서 학생들은 비대면 수업환경으로 학업중단에 대한 고민이 더욱 심화되어 전과에 대한 고민이 증가되었다고 하였다. 교수들은 비대면수업과 학업중단 증가로 활력이 사라는 학과분위기가 되었다고 하였다. 코로나19 비대면 수업상황이 물리교육에 시사하는 바로 교수와 학생간 상호작용을 강화하는 방안 모색과 실습수업을 보완할 수 있는 실재감을 높이는 수업방안 모색, 그리고 물리학 교수들의 교과교육학 지식을 공유할 수 있는 기회 부여가 필요함을 제시하였다.

시뮬레이션 실습이 접목된 문제중심학습에 대한 간호학생의 PBL 학습요소별 인식과 학업성취도 (Learning Element Recognition and Academic Achievement of Nursing Student Receiving PBL with Simulation Education)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze how a nursing student recognizes PBL with simulation education and its relationship to academic achievement. Methods: The study objects were the students in C college who learn through PBL using simulator for 15 weeks(September 2007 to December 2007). Learning element recognition was developed by Cho(2002) and three key evaluations(performance, self-evaluation, and colleague evaluation) were designed by professors. Results: Learning element recognition ranged from 2.37 to 4.83 with the average at 3.94. For Learning element recognition, students who preferred discussion score 4.15. This was statistically more significant than those who do not. Students who preferred presentations show significantly higher score in colleague evaluation. For Learning element recognition and academic achievement, self-evaluation and colleague evaluation showed relationship to PBL learning element. Conclusion: There was definitely a relationship with PBL learning element and academic achievement after learning the PBL with simulation education.

딥러닝 표정 인식을 활용한 실시간 온라인 강의 이해도 분석 (Analysis of Understanding Using Deep Learning Facial Expression Recognition for Real Time Online Lectures)

  • Due to the spread of COVID-19, the online lecture has become more prevalent. However, it was found that a lot of students and professors are experiencing lack of communication. This study is therefore designed to improve interactive communication between professors and students in real-time online lectures. To do so, we explore deep learning approaches for automatic recognition of students' facial expressions and classification of their understanding into 3 classes (Understand / Neutral / Not Understand). We use 'BlazeFace' model for face detection and 'ResNet-GRU' model for facial expression recognition (FER). We name this entire process 'Degree of Understanding (DoU)' algorithm. DoU algorithm can analyze a multitude of students collectively and present the result in visualized statistics. To our knowledge, this study has great significance in that this is the first study offers the statistics of understanding in lectures using FER. As a result, the algorithm achieved rapid speed of 0.098sec/frame with high accuracy of 94.3% in CPU environment, demonstrating the potential to be applied to real-time online lectures. DoU Algorithm can be extended to various fields where facial expressions play important roles in communications such as interactions with hearing impaired people.

대학 구성원 인식에 기초한 MOOC 개발 활용 전략 연구 (A Study on the MOOC Development and Utilization Strategies based on Recognitions of University Members)

  • 본 연구는 대학 교수-학습의 주체자인 학생과 교수의 온라인 대중공개강좌(MOOC)에 대한 인식에 기초하여 개발 및 활용 전략을 탐색한 것이다. 대학 구성원 모두 MOOC의 기본 개념인 개방, 공유, 참여에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하였으며, MOOC에 대한 이해와 인식 수준은 학부생과 대학원생이 매우 낮은 반면 교수는 그에 비해 상대적으로 높았다. 대학 교육과정의 혁신과 고유 콘텐츠의 확산 목적의 MOOC이 인문학, 자연과학, 사회과학, 기술공학, 예체능 영역의 강좌가 개발되길 원했다. 대학의 학습 주체자인 학부생들은 MOOC이 교양 교육과정 이수나타분야 기초 학습, 비교과 과정으로 이수할 수 있길 원했고, 평생 학습자인 대학원생은 지역시민의 평생교육 강화를 위해 MOOC이 개발 활용되길 원했다. 고품질 교육의 제공자이자 평생 학습자인 교수는 대학교육의 혁신과 고유 콘텐츠의 확산을 목적으로 해당 전공 과정의 심화학습에 MOOC이 활용되기를 원했다. 앞으로 대학은 다양한 MOOC 개발을 지원하고 이수체계를 정립하여 고도화된 고품질 온라인 교육 서비스를 제공해야 할 것이다.

CIPP 모형을 활용한 대학 융복합 교육과정의 효과성 분석 (Analysis of the Effectiveness of the University Convergence Curriculum using the CIPP model)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 CIPP 모형을 활용하여 대학 융복합 교육과정의 효과성을 분석하는 것이다. K대학의 융복합 교육에 참여한 교수와 학생을 대상으로 조사한 758개의 데이터로 집단 특성에 따른 차이 분석과 성과인식과 교과만족도에 미치는 영향 요인을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 먼저, 수업활동(CA)이 가장 높았고(M=3.85), 교과이수설계(CD)가 가장 낮았으며(M=3.35), 집단의 특성에 따라 교과목표와 교과내용, 수업활동에 유의미한 차이가 있다. 둘째, 융복합 교육 과정의 성과인식과 교과만족도에 미치는 영향 요인으로는 요구반영과 교과이수설계, 학습자활동, 성과인식, 교과만족도로 나타났다. 결론적으로 기획단계에서부터 교수와 학생의 요구를 반영하여 설계하고, 참신한 내용과 적극적인 교수학습활동으로 만족도와 성과인식을 높여야 함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 융복합 교육과정의 질적 개선을 위한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

방사선(학)과 학생들의 전공만족도분석 (An Analysis on the Satisfaction of Radiology Students with their Major)

  • 방사선(학)과 학생들의 전공만족의 요인을 파악하고 효율적인 교육과 진로 교육 등의 기초자료를 제공하고자 본 연구를 수행하였다. 그 결과, 교수의 역할에 대한 만족도는 높았으나, 전반적으로 교과과정에 대한 수치는 낫게 나타났으며, 자기주도 학습의 인식도와 실천도의 사이의 차이가 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 상관관계분석결과에서도 교수의 역할이 매우 중요한 요인으로 작용함을 알 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구를 토대로 교수의 역할(수업 및 국시준비지도, 학생들의 질문 등)을 중심으로 방사선(학)과 학생들의 전공만족을 향상시킨다면, 학과 및 학교 적응에 도움을 줄 수 있으며, 향후 전문직업인으로서의 긍정적인 인성이 형성될 것으로 사료된다.

보건의료직종별 SBT 국가시험체제에 대한 타당성 연구 (Study on validity of the National Examination based on smart device based test(SBT) by 7 types of healthcare occupation)

  • Purpose: The purposes of this research were to study the validity of the National Examination based on smart based test(SBT) by 7 types of healthcare occupation. Methods: We conducted a questionnaires survey among 1,219 people including 210 professors for all 7 types of healthcare occupation and 573 clinical specialists ; 436 students from random sampling participated and the reliability of the questionnaire was tested using Cronbach's alpha. Results: Professors from 7 types of healthcare occupation were investigated for their opinions on the introduction of the SBT system ; 65.9% of the professors answered positively on the introduction of the SBT National Examination System, while 40.1% of the clinical experts answered likewise. In particular, professors and the clinical experts recognized altogether that the multimedia questionnaire, being effective for the evaluation of clinical and practical competence of the subjects, enabling the evaluation of various areas and strengthening the school education in clinical practices, the 42.0% of the students from 7 departments answered that the future direction of the national test is in the SBT test system with significant difference (p=.000) found in students majoring in order of Emergency Medical Services, Radiology and Physical therapy, compared to students from other majors, showing the positive response to the SBT system. Conclusion: The results of this study comprehensively evaluated the positive recognition of development of multimedia items and SBT system in national examination of 7 types of healthcare occupation in professors, field specialists and students.

치기공과 및 치위생과 학생의 대면/비대면 강의 품질 인식 수준과 만족도 (Satisfaction and quality recognition of face-to-face and non-face-to-face lectures among students in the departments of dental technology and dental hygiene)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore methods to improve the quality recognition and satisfaction level of non-face-to-face lectures among students in the departments of dental technology and dental hygiene. Methods: This survey was conducted to assess the status and preference of non-face-to-face lectures and the level of awareness and satisfaction regarding the quality of these lectures among 179 students of dental technology and 295 students of dental hygiene. Statistical analyses were performed using frequency analysis, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA (post-hoc Duncan), Welch analysis (post-hoc Games-Howell), and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results: Factors that affected the ability to assess the quality of non-face-to-face lectures were the department, the method of non-face-to-face lectures, the most preferred method for conducting lectures, the level of awareness regarding the quality of face-to-face lecture, and satisfaction level. It has 71.5% explanatory power. Moreover, factors that influenced the satisfaction level of non-face-to-face lectures included the department, grade, the highest satisfied non-face-to-face teaching method, the most effective theoretical non-face-to-face teaching method, the most preferred teaching methods, and the ability to assess quality of face-to-face lectures. It has 46.8% explanatory power. Conclusion: Non-face-to-face classes should be designed and developed for web-based programs to improve the motivation and achievement level of the students and encourage interaction between the professors and students. Our findings suggest that educators should strive to achieve optimal educational effects by efficiently combining face-to-face and non-face-to-face lectures.
