거리영상의 SHGC 표현을 위한 단면 처리법 (A Method of Cross-Section Processing for the SHGC Description of a Range Image)

  • In this paper, we propose the cross-section processing method which is simple in describing the SHGC of objects in a range image and which can describe the SHGC of occluded objects for the recognition of 3D objects. This method produces the cross-sections of an object along the assumed axis of the SHGC and describes the SHGC of the object by processing the produced cross-sections of the object using $\psi$ -S curves with invariant properties in position and size. Our method is simple in a process and can descirbe the SHGC of partially occluded objects because it uses range images with 3-D informations of objects without matching contours of objects with a model base. Thus it is a useful description method of a range image for the recognition of 3D objects shaped in SHGC form and we proved the usefulness of it in experiments.

  • In this paper, we discuss the tracking system for a wheelchair which can follow the path of a human target such as a nurse in hospital. The problem of human tracking is that it requires recognition of feature as well as the tracking of human positions. For this purpose the use of a high cost visual sensor such as laser finder or streo camera makes the tracking a high cost additional expense. This paper proposes the tracking system uses a low cost infrared range-finder and CCD camera, The Infrared range-finder and CCD camera can create a target candidate through each target recognition algorithm. and this information is fused in order to reduce the uncertainties of a target decision and correct the positional error of the human. The effectiveness of the proposed system is verified through experiments.

인지도(Cognitive Map)를 활용한 아동의 주거환경 인지 특성 분석 (An Analysis of the Cognitive Characteristics of Child Residential Environment Using Cognitive Map)

  • It is very necessary to know about child recognition of residential environment to plan and design an environment proper for children's growth and development. The research method using Cognitive Map, which may be defined as "an overall mental image of representation of the space and layout of a setting" can be a good tool for studying child recognition of residential environment. This study analyzed the child recognition of the size of home range, the number of residential environment elements, the types of Cognitive Map and the levels of Cognitive Map to understand the contents of child recognition about their residential environment. Subjects were 206 children in age6, 8 and 10 in Gwanju and Jeonnam area. As the result of the study, we found that 70% of child recognized 100~500 M as the size of home range, and that the number of the elements of residential environment was 7, average. And we also found that sequential map was more popular than spatial map in child's Cognitive Map type and that almost 60% of child respondents drew the Cognitive Map of level 1 complexity type. As the result of this study, we could know that the research method using Cognitive Map was very useful for understanding the child recognition of residential environment.

Multi-camera based Images through Feature Points Algorithm for HDR Panorama

  • With the spread of various kinds of cameras such as digital cameras and DSLR and a growing interest in high-definition and high-resolution images, a method that synthesizes multiple images is being studied among various methods. High Dynamic Range (HDR) images store light exposure with even wider range of number than normal digital images. Therefore, it can store the intensity of light inherent in specific scenes expressed by light sources in real life quite accurately. This study suggests feature points synthesis algorithm to improve the performance of HDR panorama recognition method (algorithm) at recognition and coordination level through classifying the feature points for image recognition using more than one multi frames.

Improved object recognition performance of UWB radar according to different window functions

  • In this paper, we implemented an Ultra-Wideband radar system using Stripmap Synthetic Apertrure Radar algorithm to recognize objects inside a box. Different window functions such as Hanning, Hamming, Kaiser, and Taylor functions to improve image recognition performance are applied and implemented to radar system. The Ultra-Wideband radar system with 3.1~4.8 GHz broadband and UWB antenna were implemented to recognize the conductor plate located inside 1m3 box. To obtain the image, we use the propagation data in the time domain according to the 1m movement distance and use the Range Doppler algorithm. The effect of different window functions to improve the recognition performance of the image are analyzed. From the compared results, we confirmed that the Kaiser window function can obtain a relatively good image.

자연형 사운드스케이프 요소인 분수의 인지범위에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Recognition Region of Passive Soundscape Facilities Especially in Fountains)

  • The interaction between people and sound and the way how people consciously perceive their environment are central approach to soundscape research. In this respect, this paper aims to clarify the relationship between water-sound level and recognition region in urban area. As a passive soundscape facility, fountain is a useful way to give place such as public square, park identity and vitality. In this study, to know the optimistic distance and sound level range from fountain, sound levels due to distance were measured and subject responses were checked by questionnaire. As a result, levels from 63 dB to 67 dB were recommended by subjects and moving forward to fountain less satisfactory than backward. Moving forward 5 m and backward 5 m(total range 10 m): there was a difference in satisfaction ratio by 2,5 out of 10. The results of this study could be used for street furniture location design and P.A. system output level.

Hybrid Facial Representations for Emotion Recognition

  • Automatic facial expression recognition is a widely studied problem in computer vision and human-robot interaction. There has been a range of studies for representing facial descriptors for facial expression recognition. Some prominent descriptors were presented in the first facial expression recognition and analysis challenge (FERA2011). In that competition, the Local Gabor Binary Pattern Histogram Sequence descriptor showed the most powerful description capability. In this paper, we introduce hybrid facial representations for facial expression recognition, which have more powerful description capability with lower dimensionality. Our descriptors consist of a block-based descriptor and a pixel-based descriptor. The block-based descriptor represents the micro-orientation and micro-geometric structure information. The pixel-based descriptor represents texture information. We validate our descriptors on two public databases, and the results show that our descriptors perform well with a relatively low dimensionality.

기울어진 번호판을 포함한 효율적인 번호판인식 (Efficient License Plate Recognition Method for Inclined Plates)

  • 차량의 수가 급격히 증가함에 따라 보다 지능적인 번호판 자동인식체계가 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문은 주행하는 차량에서 기울어진 번호판을 포함한 효율적인 자동차 번호판 인식방법을 제안하였다. 실험결과로서 일반적인 환경에서 획득된 인식 비율은 약 99%의 높은 성공률을 나타내었으며, 번호판이 차량에 비례하여 많이 기울어지게 위치해 있을 경우에도 97%의 성공률을 나타내었다. 논문에서는 CCD 카메라를 통해 전송되는 영상 시퀀스를 대상으로 움직이는 물체의 형태가 보행중인 사람, 혹은 자동차인지를 식별하고 이의 이동 방향을 판단하여, 이를 추적하는 무인 감시 시스템을 위한 효율적인 알고리즘을 제안한다.

자동이득 조절에서 해제시간에 따른 어음인지점수 변화 (The Word Recognition Score According to Release Time on Automatic Gain Control)

  • Automatic gain control(AGC) is used in hearing aids to compensate for the hearing level as to reduced dynamic range. AGC is consisted of the main 4 factors which are compression threshold, compression ratio, attack time, and release time. This study especially focus on each individual need for optimum release time parameters that can be changed within 7 certain range such as 12, 64, 128, 512, 2094, and 4096ms. To estimate the effect of various release time in AGC, twelve normal hearing and twelve hearing impaired listeners are participated. The stimuli are used by one syllable and sentence which have the same acoustic energy respectively. Then, each of score of the word recognition score is checked in quiet and noise conditions. As a result, it is verified that most people have the different best recognition score on specific release time. Also, if hearing aids is set by the optimum release time in each person, it is helpful in speech recognition and discrimination.
