  • A new approach to the real-time measurement of muscle fatigue by using adaptive filtering algorithm is proposed. Unlike previously reported methods, it can estimate the muscle fatigue at every sample as the EMG signal statistics change. As a result, the muscle conduction velocity ranged between 4.2-5m/s at low tension and 3-4m/s at fatigue state.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of $H_{\infty}$ filtering for continuous-time singular systems with multiple state-delays. The aim of designed filter is to guarantee regularity, impulse-free, asymptotic stability and $H_{\infty}$ norm bound of filtering error singular system. By establishing a finite sum inequality based on quadratic terms, a new delay-dependent BRL (bounded real lemma) for singular systems with multiple state-delays is derived. Based on the result, the existence condition of $H_{\infty}$ filter and filter design method are proposed in terms of LMI (linear matrix inequality). Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the validity of the design methods.

  • The acoustic emission(AE) technique is a well established method to carry out structural health monitoring(SHM) of large structures. However, the real-time monitoring of the crack growth in the roller coaster support structures is not easy since the vehicle operation produces very large noise as well as crack growth. In this investigation, we present the waveform parameter filtering method to classify acoustic sources in real-time. This method filtrates only the AE hits by the target acoustic source as passing hits in a specific parameter band. According to various acoustic sources, the waveform parameters were measured and analyzed to verify the present filtering method. Also, the AE system employing the waveform parameter filter was manufactured and applied to the roller coaster support structure in an actual amusement park.

  • This paper proposes a system that can serve users with appropriate search results through real time filtering, and implemented adaptive user profiling based personalized information retrieval system(PIRS) using users' implicit feedbacks in order to deal with the problem of existing search systems such as Google or MSN that does not satisfy various user' personal search needs. One of the reasons that existing search systems hard to satisfy various user' personal needs is that it is not easy to recognize users' search intentions because of the uncertainty of search intentions. The uncertainty of search intentions means that users may want to different search results using the same query. For example, when a user inputs "java" query, the user may want to be retrieved "java" results as a computer programming language, a coffee of java, or a island of Indonesia. In other words, this uncertainty is due to ambiguity of search queries. Moreover, if the number of the used words for a query is fewer, this uncertainty will be more increased. Real-time filtering for search results returns only those results that belong to user-selected domain for a given query. Although it looks similar to a general directory search, it is different in that the search is executed for all web documents rather than sites, and each document in the search results is classified into the given domain in real time. By applying information filtering using real time directory classifying technology for search results to personalization, the number of delivering results to users is effectively decreased, and the satisfaction for the results is improved. In this paper, a user preference profile has a hierarchical structure, and consists of domains, used queries, and selected documents. Because the hierarchy structure of user preference profile can apply the context when users perfomed search, the structure is able to deal with the uncertainty of user intentions, when search is carried out, the intention may differ according to the context such as time or place for the same query. Furthermore, this structure is able to more effectively track web documents search behaviors of a user for each domain, and timely recognize the changes of user intentions. An IP address of each device was used to identify each user, and the user preference profile is continuously updated based on the observed user behaviors for search results. Also, we measured user satisfaction for search results by observing the user behaviors for the selected search result. Our proposed system automatically recognizes user preferences by using implicit feedbacks from users such as staying time on the selected search result and the exit condition from the page, and dynamically updates their preferences. Whenever search is performed by a user, our system finds the user preference profile for the given IP address, and if the file is not exist then a new user preference profile is created in the server, otherwise the file is updated with the transmitted information. If the file is not exist in the server, the system provides Google' results to users, and the reflection value is increased/decreased whenever user search. We carried out some experiments to evaluate the performance of adaptive user preference profile technique and real time filtering, and the results are satisfactory. According to our experimental results, participants are satisfied with average 4.7 documents in the top 10 search list by using adaptive user preference profile technique with real time filtering, and this result shows that our method outperforms Google's by 23.2%.

  • In pure P2P environment, it is possible to provide service by using a little real-time information without using accumulated information. But in case of using only a little information that was locally collected, quality of recommendation service can be fallen-off. Therefore, it is necessary to study a method to improve qualify of recommendation service by using users' context information. But because a great volume of users' context information can be recognized in a moment, there can be a scalability problem and there are limitations in supporting differentiated services according to fields and items. In this paper, we solved the scalability problem by clustering context information per each service field and classifying it per each user, using SOM. In addition, we could recommend proper services for users by quantifying the context information of the users belonging to the similar classification to the service requester among classified data and then using collaborative filtering.

  • This study presents the usability of the high-rate single-frequency Precise Point Positioning (SF-PPP) technique based on 20 Hz Global Positioning Systems (GPS)-only observations in detecting dynamic motions. SF-PPP solutions were obtained from post-mission and real-time GNSS corrections. These include the International GNSS Service (IGS)-Final, IGS real-time (RT), real-time MADOCA (Multi-GNSS Advanced Demonstration tool for Orbit and Clock Analysis), and real-time products from the Australian/New Zealand satellite-based augmentation systems (SBAS, known as SouthPAN). SF-PPP results were compared with LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) sensor and single-frequency relative positioning (SF-RP) solutions. The findings show that the SF-PPP technique successfully detects the harmonic motions, and the real-time products-based PPP solutions were as accurate as the final post-mission products. In the frequency domain, all GNSS-based methods evaluated in this contribution correctly detect the dominant frequency of short-term harmonic oscillations, while the differences in the amplitude values corresponding to the peak frequency do not exceed 1.1 mm. However, evaluations in the time domain show that SF-PPP needs high-pass filtering to detect accurate displacement since SF-PPP solutions include trends and low-frequency fluctuations, mainly due to atmospheric effects. Findings obtained in the time domain indicate that final, real-time, and MADOCA-based PPP results capture short-term dynamic behaviors with an accuracy ranging from 3.4 mm to 8.5 mm, and SBAS-based PPP solutions have several times higher RMSE values compared to other methods. However, after high-pass filtering, the accuracies obtained from PPP methods decreased to a few mm. The outcomes demonstrate the potential of the high-rate SF-PPP method to reliably monitor structural and earthquake-induced ground motions and vibration frequencies of structures.

  • This paper introduces an on-line particle-filtering-based framework for failure prognosis in nonlinear, non-Gaussian systems. This framework uses a nonlinear state-space model of the plant(with unknown time-varying parameters) and a particle filtering(PF) algorithm to estimate the probability density function(pdf) of the state in real-time. The state pdf estimate is then used to predict the evolution in time of the fault indicator, obtaining as a result the pdf of the remaining useful life(RUL) for the faulty subsystem. This approach provides information about the precision and accuracy of long-term predictions, RUL expectations, and 95% confidence intervals for the condition under study. Data from a seeded fault test for a UH-60 planetary carrier plate are used to validate the proposed methodology.

  • In the field of Internet of Things (IoT), smarter embedded devices offer functions via web services. The Quality-of-Service (QoS) prediction is a key measure that guarantees successful IoT service applications. In this study, a collaborative filtering method is presented for predicting response time of IoT service due to time-awareness characteristics of IoT. First, a calculation method of service response time similarity between different users is proposed. Then, to improve prediction accuracy, initial similarity values are adjusted and similar neighbors are selected by a similarity threshold. Finally, via a densified user-item matrix, service response time is predicted by collaborative filtering for current active users. The presented method is validated by experiments on a real web service QoS dataset. Experimental results indicate that better prediction accuracy can be achieved with the presented method.

  • This research suggests the keyword filtering about disaster and the method of detecting area in real-time event detecting system by analyzing contents of twitter. The diffusion of smart-mobile has lead to a fast spread of SNS and nowadays, various researches based on studying SNS are being processed. Among SNS, the twitter has a characteristic of fast diffusion since it is written in 140 words of short paragraph. Therefore, the tweets that are written by twitter users are able to perform a role of sensor. By using these features the research has been constructed which detects the events that have been occurred. However, people became reluctant to open their information of location because it is reported that private information leakage are increasing. Also, problems associated with accuracy are occurred in process of analyzing the tweet contents that do not follow the spelling rule. Therefore, additional designing keyword filtering and the method of area detection on detecting real-time event process were required in order to develop the accuracy. This research suggests the method of keyword filtering about disaster and two methods of detecting area. One is the method of removing area noise which removes the noise that occurred in the local name words. And the other one is the method of determinating the area which confirms local name words by using landmarks. By applying the method of keyword filtering about disaster and two methods of detecting area, the accuracy has improved. It has improved 49% to 78% by using the method of removing area noise and the other accuracy has improved 49% to 89% by using the method of determinating the area.
