Improvement of PMOLED life time using Mg-Zn-F thin film passivation

  • We manufactured a novel gas permeation thin film passivation by using inorganic Mg-Zn-F target which has better optical characteristics and high electronegativity. We fabricated targets in various composition ratio and formed about 200nm which is limited thickness of the flexible display. Applied to PLED device, the target which composed of $MgF_2$ and Zn at the ratio of 4:6, WVTR was reached the measurement limit of the equipment, $10^{-3}g/m^2{\cdot}day$ and the life time was increased 25 times better than PLED device which is non-passivation.

The Fabrication of Mulilayer Chip NTC Thermistor for Mobile Communication Telephone (이동통신 단말기에 이용되는 적층 칩 써미스터 제작)

  • Oxides of the form $Mn_{3}O_4$-$Co_{3}O_4$-NiO present properties that make them useful as multilayer chip NTC thermistor for mobile communication telephone. When $Mn_{2}Ni_{x}CO_{1-x}O_4$ composition with the X = 0.12$\sim$0.24 at sintered temperature 1250$^{\circ}C$, resistivity and B-constant were 300$\sim$450[${\Omega}-cm$] and 3250$\sim$3450, respectively. Multilayer chip NTC(Negative Temperature Coefficient) resistor were fabricated with 4 layer by a conventional multilayer capacitor techniques, using 100 pd paste as internal electrode and $Mn_{2}Ni_{0.20}CO_{0.8}O_4$ composition as NTC materials. In particular, resistance change ratio (${\Delta}R$), the important factor for reliability, varied within $\pm$3%, indicating the compositions of multilayer chip NTC thermistor products could be available for mobile communication telephone.

The Electric Properties of Surface Coating with CePO4 and M3(PO4)2 (M=Mg, Zn) on Li4Ti5O12 for Energy Storage Capacitor

  • The $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ of anode material for the hybrid capacitor was coated using $CePO_4$, $M_3(PO_4)_2$ (M=Mg, Zn). The capacitance of phosphate coated $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was found to be lower than that of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$, whereas the equivalent series resistance was higher than that of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$. With an increase in cycle number, the base of cylindrical cell exhibited swelling due to gas generated from the reaction between $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ and electrolyte. The swelling cycle number of phosphate coated $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was higher than that of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ due to improvement in electrochemical stability. Based on the results, it is proposed that phosphate coating can be employed as a barrier layer to control the gassing reaction by isolating the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ particle from electrolyte solution.

Preparation and Characteristics of Li4Ti5O12 Anode Material for Hybrid Supercapacitor

  • Spinel-$Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was successfully synthesized by a solid-phase method at 800, 850, and $900^{\circ}C$ according to the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ cubic spinel phase structure. To achieve higher EDLC energy density with the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$, the negative electrode of the hybrid supercapacitor was studied in this work. The electrochemical performances of the hybrid supercapacitor and EDLC were characterized by constant current discharge curves, c-rate, and cycle performance testing. The capacitance (1st cycle) of the hybrid supercapacitor and EDLC was 209 and 109 F, respectively, which is higher than EDLC. The capacitance of the hybrid supercapacitor decreases from 209 F to 101 F after 20 cycles when discharged at several specific current densities ranging from 1 to 10 A. In contrast, capacitance of the EDLC hardly decreases after 20 cycles. Results show that hybrid supercapacitor benefits from the high rate capability of supercapacitor and high capacity of the battery. Findings also prove that the hybrid supercapacitor is an energy storage device where the supercapacitor and the Li ion secondary battery coexist in one cell system.

A Development of the Electric Power Supply System for PRT Vehicle (PRT 차량의 전력 공급시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, the design of PRT vehicle power supply system is discussed. Since there is no power feeding line facilities in PRT system under development, the PRT vehicle must have its own energy storage device on board. For the energy storage device, ultra-capacitor bank is applied due to its fast charging capability and long life time. Charging the Ultra-capacitor bank is performed by wireless inductive power transfer system. The capacitor bank is charged up in less than 10 seconds when the vehicle is traveling by passenger stations. In this paper the design of the ultra-capacitor bank and the wireless inductive power transfer system for the PRT vehicle are discussed. Tests are conducted for the both system and the result shows the efficiency of the wireless inductive power transfer system is higher than 80%.

  • This paper describes the preparation and characteristics of a battery capacitor and module for solar power system. A cylindrical 30,000F battery capacitor ($60{\times}138mm$) was assembled by using the $LTO(Li_4Ti_5O_{12})$ electrode as an anode and $NMC(LiNiMnCoO_2)-LCO(LiCoO_2)$ as a cathode. The battery capacitor has reduced energy density and power density under high CC(constant current) and CP(constant power) conditions. Battery capacitor module (16V, 11Ah) was fabricated using an asymmetric hybrid capacitor with a capacitance of 30,000F. In order to determine the characteristics of the battery capacitor Module for solar power system, battery capacitor cells were connected in series with active balancing circuit. As a result of measuring the 100w LED lamp, it was discharged at the voltage of 15V~10V, and the compensation time at discharge was measured to be about 4979s. Experimental results show that it can be applied to applications related to solar power system by applying battery capacitor module.

  • Extracting focused object with saliency map is still remaining as one of the most highly tasked research area around computer vision for it is hard to estimate. Through this paper, we propose enhanced object extraction method based on multi-channel saliency map which could be done automatically without machine learning. Proposed Method shows a higher accuracy than Itti method using SLIC, Euclidean, and LBP algorithm as for object extraction. Experiments result shows that our approach is possible to be used for automatic object extraction without any previous training procedure through focusing on the main object from the image instead of estimating the whole image from background to foreground.

The Electrical Properties of Mutilayer Chip Capacitor with X7R by Addition of Rare-Earth Ions (Y2O3, Er2O3) using Design of Experiments (실험계획법을 적용한 X7R 적층 칩 커패시터의 희토류(Y2O3, Er2O3) 첨가에 따른 전기적 특성)

  • Employing statistical design of experiments, the difference in doping behaviors of rare-earth ions and their effects on the dielectric property and microstructure of $BaTiO_3$-MgO-$MnO_2$-($Ba_{0.4}Ca_{0.6}$) $SiO_3-Re_2O_3$ (Re = $Y_2O_3$, $Er_2O_3$) system were investigated. Through the statistical analysis we have found that the amount of $Re_2O_3$ are significantly affecting on the dielectric properties. The $Re_2O_3$ improved the dielectric constant, dielectric loss and R*C constant, so the appropriate contents of $Y_2O_3$ and $Er_2O_3$ were 0.8 ~ 1.2 mol% and 0.8 ~ 1.3 mol%, respectively. The MLCC(mutilayer chip capacitor) with $2.0{\times}1.2{\times}1.2mm$ size and 475 nF was also suited for X7R with the above composition. It showed that the dielectric constant and RC constant were 2,839 and 3,675 ${\Omega}F$, respectively in the sintering condition at $1250^{\circ}C$ in $Po_2$ $10^{-7}$ Mpa.

A Study on Establishment of Signaling Systems to Speed up Conventional Railway (철도 고속화에 따른 단계별 신호시스템 구축방안 연구)

  • Studies suggested an increase in the competitiveness and roles of mainline railways like speed and accessibility improvement, as a fundamental direction of the National Transport Network Plan. At this point, topics presented especially for strengthening the role of human and environment centered transportation: as to the greatly improved speed competitiveness, there are an operational speed above 180km/h ~ 200km/h and traveling within 2 ~ 3 hours among big cities. As to accessibility improvement, there are accessibility to main railway stations within 30 minutes, and the improvement of accessibility, safety, eco-friendliness, amenity etc. As a part of these suggestions, field specific plans were proposed for the establishment of expressed mainline railway network in Korea such as train's, civil structures, trolley lines etc. In this paper we analyzed the conventional lines and systems to figure out whether to change details in terms of H/W of signaling system. Additionally, we reviewed the compatibility or difference of signalling system depending on train's speed. With this result, we deduced the number of virtual blocks specific to the speed of 180km/h, 200km/h and 230km/h, which were showed for the speed improvement considering each variable like blocks, braking distance etc. In this way, we suggested the railway signal system establishment plan considering safety operation.

The Characteristics of Asymmetric Hybrid Supercapacitor Cells and Modules for Power Quality Stabilization (전력품질 안정화용 비대칭 하이브리드 슈퍼커패시터 셀 및 모듈 특성)

  • In addition to the energy storage facilities based on high power technologies, Electric double layer capacitors(EDLC) are today's candidate for power quality stabilization. However, its low energy density is often inhibiting factor for application of electric power industry. Hybrid supercapacitor is an promising energy storage device that positioned between conventional EDLC and Li-ion battery. This paper describes the preparation and characteristics of a hybrid supercapacitor and module for power quality stabilization. A cylindrical 3200F hybrid supercapacitor ($60{\times}74.5mm$) was assembled by using the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ electrode as an anode and activated carbon as a cathode. It shows 2.5 times higher energy density than conventional EDLC with the same volume. In order to determine the characteristics of the hybrid supercapacitor Module for uninterruptible power supply (UPS), hybrid supercapacitor cells were connected in series with active balancing circuit. At even the high current density of 14A(10C), Module prepared by 18 cells showed the capacitance of 170F at 30~50V, suggesting the applicability for UPS.
