  • Background: The Purpose of this study was to evaluate the value of Spencer technique on the range of motion (ROM), Pain, function in patients with shoulder adhesive capsulitis. Methods: subjects consisted of 30patients who were diagnosed shoulder adhesive capsulitis. All subjects are randomly assigned to 2groups: Spencer technique (ST) group (n=15), self assistive ROM exercise(S-A ROM E) group (n=15). The subjects performed an intervention program 30 minuets per day and was repeated 3 times a week for 4 weeks a total of 12 times. ROM of flexion, abduction, external rotation, internal rotation were measured using a goniometer. The visual analog scale (VAS), Shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI) were used to measure pain, functional ability. Results: In the intergroup comparisons after the intervention, ROM of flexion, abduction, internal rotation, VAS, SPADI were significantly different(p<.05). Spencer technique was more effective for improving ROM, pain, functional ability than self assistive ROM exercise. Conclusions: Our study suggest that considering Spencer technique for the patient with shoulder adhesive capsulitis. Further studies on Spencer technique are needed in the future.

  • This paper presents vibration control of a drive feeding system consisting of a new type of CD-ROM(compact discread only memory) mount using electro-rheologocal(ER) fluid. Chemically treated starch particles and silicon oil are used for ER fluid. and its field-dependent yield stresses are experimentally distilled under both the shear and the flow modes. On the basis of the yield stress, an appropriate size of ER CD-ROM mount adapted to conventional feeding system is designed and manufactured. Vibration isolation performance of the proposed mount is evaluated in the frequency domain and compared with that of conventional rubber mount. The ER CD-ROM mount is then installed to the drive feeding system and the system equation of motion is derived. Following the formulating the sky-hook controller, computer simulation is undertaken in order to evaluate vibration suppression of the feeding system subjected to various disturbances(excitations).

  • This paper presents a validation of the accuracy of a reduced order model(ROM) and the efficiency of the design optimization using a Proper Orthogonal Decomposition(POD) to transonic wing/fuselage system. Three dimensional Euler equations are solved to extrude snapshot data of the full order aerodynamic analysis, and then a set of POD basis vectors reproducing the behavior of flow around the wing/fuselage system is calculated from these snapshots. In this study, reduced order model constructed through this procedure is applied to several validation cases, and then it is confirmed that the ROM has the capability of the prediction of flow field in the space of interest. Additionally, after the design optimization of the wing/fuselage system with the ROM is performed, results of the ROM are compared with results of the design optimization using response surface model(RSM). From these, it can be confirmed that the design optimization with the ROM is more efficient than RSM.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify Effects of the ROM dance on cognitive function, neuropsychiatric in using wheelchair senior in nursing home. Methods : The subjects of the experimental group were 15 seniors using wheelchair who attended an ROM dance program in a nursing home. It was carried out for 18 weeks from Mar. 2010. to August. 2010. The evaluation tools used for the presented study were the Mini-Mental Status Exam-Korean(MMSE-K) and Neuropsychiatric Inventory-Questionaire (NPI-Q). Results : In the terms of cognitive function there was no significant defference between the mean pre/post test. but the factor(orientation of time) of MMSE-K and the factors 2 (sleep/nighttime behavios, apathy/indefference) of NPI-Q was significant improvement. Conclusion : In this study, the ROM dance program was effective in improving cognitive function and neuropsychiatric in seniors using wheelchair. also ROM dance program was decreasing and regression delay effect in cognitive and neuropsychiatric.

  • Purpose : The purpose of study was to better understand the effects of Interferential Current (IFC) and Ultrasound on the ROM and pain in patients with chronic back muscle pain. Methods : Twenty patients with chronic back pain were randomly assigned to IFC stimulation groups and Ultrasound stimulation groups. Both groups used the same method for 20 minutes each session, three times a week for 4 weeks at the same time point and with the same amount of treatment. Measurement items are visual analogue scale (VAS) and range of motion (ROM). Results : This study showed that the IFC stimulation group and the ultrasound stimulation group demonstrated significant improvement in ROM increase and pain reduction. Both groups showed a significant reduction in VAS; however, the ultrasound stimulation group decreased more than ultrasound stimulation group. And, both groups showed a significant increase in ROM. The ultrasound stimulation group increased significantly more than the IFC stimulation group in ROM of flexion and extension. The IFC stimulation group increased significantly more than the ultrasound stimulation group in ROM of lateral flexion. Conclusion : Pain relief was more effective in the ultrasound group. The ultrasound showed a more significant effect than IFC in ROM of flexion and extension. The IFC showed a more significant effect than ultrasound in ROM lateral flexion. The results of this study suggest that the treatment effects are different on patients with chronic back pain, according to treatment methods.

  • CD-ROM technique, not more than 10 years after development, goes through rapid growth, has been taken advantage of several practical application parts. Needless to say about bibliographic data, numeric value, the phonetics, an image and a picture data that are recorded as abstract or full text, and offered and applied to industry, information service including library, it can be used for library staffs, information retrieval. Escape from the need of one disc drive and one computer to access one disc, now we organize an ideal system that can be retrieved several CD-ROM used only one drive, several users can access several information, so networking is possible through LAN. In this article, we studied the function and type, characteristics, system, structure, data block, production procedure, standardization of CD-ROM LAN.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate range of motion (ROM) and muscle activities according to the skills of Surya Namaskara in Vinyasa Yoga. Six females (skilled 2, unskilled 4) of university students participated in this experiment. The research factors were ROM and muscle activities for static poses on Surya Namaskara in Vinyasa Yoga. The six infrared cameras (Oqus 300, Qualisys Inc, Sweden) and Zero Wire EMG (Aurion, Italy) were used to acquire raw data, and the Qualisys Track Manager and Noraxon (MyoResearch XP Master Edition, USA) were used to process data. The %MVIC and ROM were analyzed with Visual 3D (C-Motion Inc, USA) and Noraxon. In conclusion, ROM and %MVIC between two groups were remarkable different according to the static poses of Yoga, therefore instructors have to provide step-by-step information that was suitable to themselves (ROM and EMG of poses).

  • This study aims to evaluate the quality of CD-ROM databases: Korean MARC on Disc and Korean National Bibliographies on CD-ROM. The five criteria(accuracy, completeness, consistency on the quality of data itself and ease of use, variety of retrieval function on the quality of database services) are used to measure their quality. The purpose of this study was to diagnose the quality of two CD-ROM databases mentioned above and to analyses the measured result of quality comparatively and to find out the problems of them and also to provide possible suggestions for their improvements.

  • In a memory, most power is dissipated in line of high capacitance such as decoder lines, word lines, and bit * lines. The decoder size as well as the parastic capacitances of the bit-line are going to reduce, if ROM core size reduces. This paper proposes to reduce a mathod of power dissipation for reducing ROM core size. Design result of ROM used in FFT[2], proposed method lead to up to 40.6%, 42.12%, 37.82% reduction in area, power consumption and number of Tr. respectively compared with previous method.

  • This paper proposes a design technique of DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) to reduce the ROM size, and also describes the procedure of the implementation of the technique. Unlike other techniques suggested so far, the proposed technique is able to reduce the ROM size to a great extent with minimal hardware overheads. The frequencies of the signal synthesized by the implemented DDS accurately changed with the applied frequency control words.
