The present study was undertaken to investigate the influence of sulforaphane on vascular smooth muscle contractility and to determine the mechanism involved. We hypothesized that sulforaphane, the primary ingredient of broccoli of cruciferous vegetables, plays a role in vascular relaxation through inhibition of Rho-kinase in rat aortae. Intact of denuded arterial rings from male Sprague-Dawley rats were used and isometric tensions were recorded using a computerized data acquisition system. Interestingly, sulforaphane significantly inhibited fluoride, phorbol ester or thromboxane $A_2$ mimetic-induced contraction in denuded muscles suggesting that additional pathways different from endothelial nitric oxide synthesis such as inhibition of Rho-kinase or MEK might be involved in the vasorelaxation. Furthermore, sulforaphane inhibited thromboxane $A_2$-induced increases in pERK1/2 levels suggesting the mechanism including inhibition of thromboxane $A_2$-induced increases in ERK1/2 phosphorylation. This study provides evidence that sulforaphane induces vascular relaxation through inhibition of Rho-kinase or MEK in rat aortae.

We hypothesized that curcumin, the primary ingredient of Curcuma longa, plays a role in vascular relaxation through inhibition of Rho-kinase in rat aortae. Denuded arterial rings from male Sprague-Dawley rats were used and isometric tensions were recorded using a computerized data acquisition system. Interestingly, curcumin inhibited fluoride-induced contraction but didn't inhibit phorbol ester-induced contraction suggesting that additional pathways different from endothelial nitric oxide synthesis might be involved in the vasorelaxation. Furthermore, curcumin significantly inhibited fluoride-induced increases in pMYPT1 levels. On the other hand, it didn't significantly inhibit phorbol ester-induced increases in pERK1/2 levels suggesting the mechanism involving inhibition of fluoride-induced MYPT1 phosphorylation. This study provides evidence that curcumin induces vascular relaxation through inhibition of Rho-kinase in rat aortae.

let E be a Finsler modules over $C^*$-algebras. A with norm-map $\rho$ and L(E) set of all A-linear bonded operators on E. We show that the canonical homomorphism ${\phi}:L(E){\rightarrow}L(E_I)$ sending each operator T to its restriction $T|E_I$ is injective if and only if I is an essential ideal in the underlying $C^*$-algebra A. We also show that $T{\in}L(E)$ is a bounded below if and only if ${\mid}{\mid}x{\mid}{\mid}={\mid}{\mid}{\rho}{\prime}(x){\mid}{\mid}$ is complete, where ${\rho}{\prime}(x)={\rho}(Tx)$ for all $x{\in}E$. Also, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the equivalence of the norms generated by the norm map.

GPR78 is an orphan G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) that is predominantly expressed in human brain tissues. Currently, the function of GPR78 is unknown. This study revealed that GPR78 was expressed in lung cancer cells and functioned as a novel regulator of lung cancer cell migration and metastasis. We found that knockdown of GPR78 in lung cancer cells suppressed cell migration. Moreover, GPR78 modulated the formation of actin stress fibers in A549 cells, in a RhoA- and Rac1-dependent manner. At the molecular level, GPR78 regulated cell motility through the activation of $G{\alpha}q$-RhoA/Rac1 pathway. We further demonstrated that in vivo, the knockdown of GPR78 inhibited lung cancer cell metastasis. These findings suggest that GPR78 is a novel regulator for lung cancer metastasis and may serve as a potential drug target against metastatic human lung cancer.

There has been a recent growth of interest in codes with respect to a newly defined non-Hamming metric grown as the Rosenbloom-Tsfasman metric (RT, or $\rho$, in short). In this paper, the definitions of the Lee complete $\rho$ weight enumerator and the exact complete $\rho$ weight enumerator of a code over $M_n_\times_s(Z_4)$ are given, and the MacWilliams identities with respect to this RT metric for the two weight enumerators of a linear code over $M_n_\times_s(Z_4)$ are proven too. At last, we also prove that the MacWilliams identities for the Lee and exact complete $\rho$ weight enumerators of a linear code over $M_n_\times_s(Z_4)$ are the generalizations of the MacWilliams identities for the Lee and complete weight enumerators of the corresponding code over $Z_4$.

We consider a congruence ${\rho}$ on a group G as a subsemigroup of the direct product $G{\times}G$. It is well known that a relation ${\rho}$ on G is a congruence if and only if there exists a normal subgroup N of G such that ${\rho}=\{(s,\;t):st^{-1}{\in}N\}$. In this paper we prove that if G is a finitely presented group, and if N is a normal subgroup of G with finite index, then the congruence ${\rho}=\{(s,\;t):st^{-1}{\in}N\}$ on G is finitely presented.

We generalize a theorem of W. Benz by proving the following result: Let $H_{\theta}$ be a half space of a real Hilbert space with dimension $\geq$ 3 and let Y be a real normed space which is strictly convex. If a distance $\rho$ > 0 is contractive and another distance N$\rho$ (N $\geq$ 2) is extensive by a mapping f : $H_{\theta}$ \longrightarrow Y, then the restriction f│$_{\theta}$ $H_{+}$$\rho$/2// is an isometry, where $H_{\theta}$＋$\rho$/2/ is also a half space which is a proper subset of $H_{\theta}$. Applying the above result, we also generalize a classical theorem of Beckman and Quarles.

In this paper, we study the value distribution of the derivative of a Dirichlet L-function $L^{\prime}(s,{\chi})$ at the a-points ${\rho}_{a,{\chi}}={\beta}_{a,{\chi}}+i{\gamma}_{a,{\chi}}$ of $L^{\prime}(s,{\chi})$. We give an asymptotic formula for the sum $${\sum_{{\rho}_{a,{\chi}};0<{\gamma}_{a,{\chi}}{\leq}T}\;L^{\prime}({\rho}_{a,{\chi}},{\chi})X^{{\rho}_{a,{\chi}}}\;as\;T{\rightarrow}{\infty}$$, where X is a fixed positive number and ${\chi}$ is a primitive character mod q. This work continues the investigations of Fujii [4-6], $Garunk{\check{s}}tis$ & Steuding [8] and the authors [12].

In order to study the bonding mechanism of Ni/B/Ni transient liquid phase bonding system, width of liquid layers were calculated, where in this system melting point of insert material(B) is higher than bonding temperature and melting point of base metal(Ni). Caclulated values were compared with experimental ones which were measured by bonding Ni/B/Ni system at 1433-1474K under vacuum atmosphere. As results, the width of initial liquid layer of Ni/B/Ni system was calculated as $W_{IL}$ = $W_{o}$[1 + {2.100..rho.$_{S/}$ ( $X_{3}$ + $X_{4}$)..rho.$_{Ni}$ }-.rho.$_{S/}$.rho. Ni/], and it was nearly same with experimental values. Maximum width of liquid layer, width of liquid layer during isothermal solidification and isothermal solidification time were calculated also.o.o.o.
