In this paper, the sensitivity of massive antenna arrays and digital beamforming to radio frequency (RF) chain in-phase quadrature-phase (I/Q) imbalance is studied and analyzed. The analysis shows that massive antenna arrays are increasingly sensitive to such RF chain imperfections, corrupting heavily the radiation pattern and beamforming capabilities. Motivated by this, novel RF-aware digital beamforming methods are then developed for automatically suppressing the unwanted effects of the RF I/Q imbalance without separate calibration loops in all individual receiver branches. More specifically, the paper covers closed-form analysis for signal processing properties as well as the associated radiation and beamforming properties of massive antenna arrays under both systematic and random RF I/Q imbalances. All analysis and derivations in this paper assume ideal signals to be circular. The well-known minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamformer and a widely-linear (WL) extension of it, called WL-MVDR, are analyzed in detail from the RF imperfection perspective, in terms of interference attenuation and beamsteering. The optimum RF-aware WL-MVDR beamforming solution is formulated and shown to efficiently suppress the RF imperfections. Based on the obtained results, the developed solutions and in particular the RF-aware WL-MVDR method can provide efficient beamsteering and interference suppressing characteristics, despite of the imperfections in the RF circuits. This is seen critical especially in the massive antenna array context where the cost-efficiency of individual RF chains is emphasized.
In this study, transparent and conductive Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) films were prepared on Corning glass and silicon wafer substrate by RF magnetron sputtering method using an Al-doped ZnO target (Al: 2 wt.%) at room temperature as the thickness of 150 nm. We investigated the effects of the RF power between 100 Wand 350 W in steps of 50 W on structural, electrical and optical properties of AZO films. Also, we studied the effects of the working pressure (3, 4 and 5 mtorr) on that condition. The thickness and cross-sectional images of films were observed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and all of the films were kept to be constant to $150\pm10$ nm on Coming glass and silicon wafer. A grain size was calculated from X-ray diffraction (XRD) on using the Scherrer' equation and their electrical properties investigated hall effect electronic transport measurement system. Moreover, we measured transmittance of AZO films by UV/VIS spectrometer.
The ZnO thin films doped with Ga and Ge (GZO:Ge) were prepared on glass substrate using RF sputtering system. Structural, morphological and optical properties of the films deposited in different temperatures were studied. Proportion of the element of using target was 97 wt% ZnO, 2.5 wt% Ga and 0.5 wt% Ge with 99.99% highly purity. Structural properties of the samples deposited in different temperatures with 200 w RF power were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, FE-SEM images and x-ray diffraction XRD analysis. Atomic force microscopy, AFM images were able to show the grain scales and surface roughness of each film rather clearly than SEM images. it was showed that increasing temperature have better surface smoothness by FE-SEM and AFM images. Transmittance study using UV-Vis spectrometer showed that all the samples have highly transparent in visible region (300~800 nm). In addition, it can be able to calculate bandgap energy from absorbance data obtained with transmittance. The hall resistivity, mobility, and optical band gap energy are influenced by the temperature.
Titanium oxide ($TiO_2$) thin films were fabricated by unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering. The fabricated $TiO_2$ films were treated by oxygen plasma under various RF powers. We investigated the characteristics of oxygen plasma treatment on the surface, structural, and physical properties of $TiO_2$ films prepared at various plasma treatment RF powers. UBM sputtered $TiO_2$ films exhibited higher contact angle value, smooth surface, and amorphous structure. However, the rms surface roughness $TiO_2$ films were rough, and the contact angle value was decreased with the increase of the plasma treatment RF power Also, the hardness value of $TiO_2$ film as physical properties was slightly increased with the increase of the plasma treatment RF power. In the results, the performance of $TiO_2$ films for self cleaning critically depended on the with the plasma treatment RF power.
Background: The purpose of this study was to identify the comparison of the muscle contractile properties on lower extremity between non-injury and injury in subjects with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Methods: Twenty-four subjects on the post-operative ACLR participated in this study. Measurement method were using tensiomygraphy to analyze the displacement maximum(Dm) and contraction time(Tc) on the both quadriceps. Results: Compared difference of the Dm between non-injury and injury, the rectus femoris (RF) and vastus lateralis (VL) increased significantly (p<.01). However, vastus medialis (VM) no significantly difference between non-injury and injury. Compared difference of the Tc between non-injury and injury, the RF increased significantly (p<.01) but VL and VM no significantly difference between non-injury and injury. Conclusions: These findings suggest that occurred muscle atrophy of the RF and VL and change properties of muscle fibers on the RF from fast muscle fibers to slow muscle fibers on the injury side of post-operative ACLR. Therefore, when apply to rehabilitation of lower extremity for post-operative ACLR, we should consider the enhance of RF and VL on injury side.
The transparent electrode properties of ITO films deposited by RF magnetron sputtering with process pressure were investigated. The ITO thin films was deposited on a glass substrate using a target with 3in diameter sintered at a ratio of $In_2O_3$ : $SnO_2$ (9 : 1). 200-nm-thick ITO thin films were manufactured by various process pressures ($2.0{\times}10^{-2}$, $7.0{\times}10^{-3}$ and $2.0{\times}10^{-3}$ Torr). The optical transmittance and resistivity of the deposited ITO thin films showed a relatively satisfactory result under $10^{-2}$ Torr. For high process pressure, the optical transmittance was below 80%, while for low process pressure, the optical transmittance was above 85%. As a result of of mobility, resistivity and carrier concentration by Hall measurement, we obtained satisfactory properties to apply into a transparent conducting thin film.
Ga doped zinc oxide films (ZnO:Ga) were deposited on glass substrate by RF magnetron sputtering from a ZnO target mixed with $Ga_O_3$. The effects of RF discharge power on the electrical, optical and structural properties were investigated experimentally. The structural and electrical properties of the film are highly affected by the variation of RF discharge power. The lowest electrical resistivity of $4.9{\times}10^{-4}\;\Omega-cm$ were obtained with the film deposited from 3 wt% of $Ga_2O_3$ doped target and at 200 W in RF discharge power. The transmittance of the 900 nm thin film was 91.7% in the visible waves. The effect of annealing on the as-deposited film was also studied to improve the electrical resistivity of the ZnO:Ga film.
In this paper, the emission properties of electrodeless fluorescent lamp were discussed using the inductively coupled plasma. To transmit the electromagnetic energy into the chamber, a RF power of 13.56MHz was applied to the antenna and considering the Ar gas pressure and the RF electric power change, the emission spectrum, Ar- I line, luminance were investigated. At this time the input parameter for ICP RF plama, Ar gas pressure and RF power were applied in the range of $10{\sim}60m$ Torr, $10{\sim}300W$ respectively.
Chromium (Cr) films were deposited on plain carbon steel sheets by DC and RF magnetron sputtering as well as by electroplating. Effects of DC or RF sputtering power on the deposition rate and properties such as, hardness, surface roughness and corrosion-resistance of the Cr films were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microcopy (SEM) analyses were performed to investigate the crystal structure, surface roughness, thickness of the Cr films. Salt fog tests were used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of the samples. The deposition rate, hardness, and surface roughness of the Cr film deposited by either DC or RF sputtering increase with the increase of sputtering power but the adhesion strength is nearly independent of the sputtering power. The deposition rate, hardness, and adhesion strength of the Cr film deposited by DC sputtering are higher than those of the Cr film deposited by RF sputtering, but RF sputtering offers smoother surface and higher corrosion-resistance. The sputter-deposited Cr film is harder and has a smoother surface than the electroplated one. The sputter-deposited Cr film also has higher corrosion-resistance than the electroplated one, which may be attributed to the smoother surface of the sputter-deposited film.
Zinc-oxide(ZnO) films were deposited on PC(polycarboanate) and PES(polyethersulphone) substrates by using RF(radio-frequency)sputter with various rf sputtering Power at a room temperature. The effects of rf sputtering Power on the structural and optical properties of ZnO films were investigated by using atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and UV spectrophotometer. The most excellent structural and properties of a ZnO film are obtained in the condition of an rf-power of 150 W. This film shows larger Grain size and lower surface roughness and a higher optical transmittance of over 80 % in the visible range than other films deposited in the different conditions of rf- power. Regardless of substrate types, The presence of a strong diffraction peak indicates that films have a (0 0 2) preferred orientation associated with the hexagonal phase.
