The Effect of Thicknesses on Magnetic Properties of Fe-Hf-N Soft Magnetic Thin Films (Fe-Hf-N 연자성 박막의 자기적 특성에 미치는 박막 두께의 영향)

  • The thickness dependence of magnetic properties was experimentally investigated in nanocrystalline Fe-Hf-N thin films fabricated by a RF magnetron sputtering method. In order to investigate the thickness effect on their magnetic properties, the films are prepared with different thickness ranges from 90 nm to 330 nm. It was revealed that the coercivity of the thin film increased with film thickness. On the contrary, the saturation magnetization decreased with film thickness. On the basis of the SEM and TEM, an amorphous phase forms during initial growth stage and it changes to crystalline structure after heat treatment at $550^{\circ}C$. Nanocrystalline Fe-Hf-N particles are also generated.

  • The $Sr_{0.7}Bi_{2.6}Ta_2O_9$(SBT)thin films are deposited on pt-coated electrode(Pt/$TiO_2/SiO_2/Si$) using a RF magnetron sputtering method. The electrical properties of SBT capacitors with annealing conditions were studied. In the XRD pattern, the SBT thin films in all annealing temperatures had (105) orientation. In the SEM images, Bi-layered perovskite phase was crystallized at $750^{\circ}C$,/TEX> and grains largely grew in oxygen annealing atmosphere. The maximum renanent polarization and the coercive electric field with annealing conditions are 12.40C/$cm^2$ and 30kV/cm, respectively. The dielectric constant and leakage current density with Pt electrode is 340 and 2.13${\times}10^{-10}A/cm^2$, respectively.

  • The $Sr_{0.8}Bi_{2.2}Ta_2O_9$(SBT) thin films are deposited on Pt-coated electrode(Pt/$TiO_2/SiO_2$/Si) using RF magnetron sputtering method. The aging properties of SBT capacitor with top electrodes represents a favorable properties in Pt electrode. The dielectric constant and leakage current density with Pt electrode is 340 and $6.81{\times}10^{-10}\;A/cm^2$ respectively. The maximum remanent polarization and the coercive electric field with Pt electrode are $12.40{\mu}C/cm^2$ and 30kV/cm respectively.

  • Thin-film $ZnGa_2O_4 : Mn^{2+}$ phosphors of spinel structure were grown on quartz substrate by RF magnetron sputtering method at room temperature. As an increase of post-annealing temperatures, crystallinity, surface roughness and stoichiometry of thin films were varied. At the post-annealing temperatures of $500^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$, the luminescence intensity was poor due to the poor crystallinity. The smallest surface roughness was observed at the sample post-annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ leading to low external extraction efficiency, and poor luminescence intensity. The highest luminescence intensity was shown at the sample post-annealed at $800^{\circ}C$. It was because both the surface roughness and crystallnity were optimized. On the other hand, at $900^{\circ}C$, the luminescence intensity was poor due to the violation of stoichiometry.

Determination of Optical Constants of TiNx was Sputtered with RF Magnetron Sputtering Method (RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법으로 증착한 TiNx 박막의 광학상수 결정)

  • We sputtered $TiN_x$ (titanium nitride) thin films on silicon substrates using ultra high vacuum RF magnetron sputtering method, and measured spectra of ellipsometry angles ${\Delta}$ and ${\Psi}$ in the photon-energy range of 1.5-5.0 eV using a variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometer. The optical constants, refractive index and extinction coefficient of the $TiN_x$ films were determined via the dispersion parameters extracted from the curve-fitting process based on Drude+Lorentz oscillator dispersion function. The reliability of determined optical constants were verified through the comparison of between simulated reflectance and reflectance spectra measured using a spectrophotometer.

  • Transparent and highly oriented KLN thin films have been grown by an rf- magnetron sputtering deposition method. A homogeneous and stable KLN target was prepared by calcine and sintering process. For KLN target, stoichiometry and composition excess with K of 30% and 60%, and Li of 15% and 30% respectively, was prepared. The targets were sintered at low temperature to prevent vaporization of K and Li. KLN thin films were fabricated by rf-magnetron sputtering method using those targets. In this experiment, using the target of composition excessed with K of 60% and Li of 30%, single phase KLN thin film was produced. KLN thin film has excellent crystallinity and highly c-axis oriented on Corning 1737 substrate. Transmittance of thin film in visible range was 90%, absorption edge is 333 nm and refractive index at 632.8 nm was 1.93.

  • Recently, low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology is widely used in sensors, actuators and microsystems fields because of its very good electrical and mechanical properties, high reliability and stability as well as possibility of making 3D micro structures. In this study, we investigated the effects of sputtering gas ratio and annealing temperature on the crystal structure of $Pb(ZrTi)O_3$ (PZT) thin films deposited on LTCC substrate. The LTCC substrate with thickness of $400\;{\mu}m$ were fabricated by laminating 4 green tapes which consist of alumina and glass particle in an organic binder. The PZT thin films were deposited on Pt / Ti / LTCC substrates by RF magnetron sputtering method. The results showed that the crystallization of the films were enhanced as increasing $O_2$ mixing ratio. At about 25% $O_2$ mixing ratio, was well crystallized in the perovskite structure. PZT thin films was annealed at various temperatures. When the annealing temperature is lower, the PZT thin films become a phyrochlore phase. However, when the annealing temperature is higher than $600^{\circ}C$, the PZT thin films become a perovskite phase. At the annealing temperature of $700^{\circ}C$, perovskite PZT thin films with good quality structure was obtained.

Characteristic Investigation on Super-Hydrophobicity of PTFE Thin Films Deposited on Al Substrates Using RF-Magnetron Sputtering Method (고주파 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법을 사용하여 Al 기판위에 증착된 PTFE 박막의 초-발수에 관한 특성 연구)

  • Super-hydrophobic properties have been achieved on the rf-sputtered polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) films deposited on etched aluminum surfaces. The microstructural evolution created after etching has been investigated by FESEM. The water contact angle over $160^{\circ}$ can be achieved on the rf-sputtered ultra-tihn PTFE film less than 10 nm coated on aluminum surface etched with 7 wt.%, 12.5 wt.%, and 15 wt.% HCl concentration for 12 min. XPS analysis have revealed the presence of a large quantity of $-CF_3$ and $-CF_2$ groups in the rf-sputtered PTFE films that effectively can reduce the surface energy of etched aluminum. The presence of patterned morphology along with the low surface energy at the rf-sputtered PTFE coating makes the aluminum surface with high super-hydrophobic property.
