  • This paper suggests the control system and algorithm for auto and manual control of the streetlight using RF system. There are two control system in this auto control algorithm. One is group control, the other individual control. In case of group control, if a car is detected by the object detecting sensor of the system installed on the streetlight, it will turn on the light per group by transmitting the RF signal. The streetlight turns on separately when it detects people or a car parked on the shoulder in accordance with the individual control. Also, there is manual control algorithm that manager can check surrounding environment and condition of the streetlight by RF signal and various sensors. So, not only the proposed system reduce meaningless energy consumption, but also it offers convenience regarding maintenance and control of the streetlight.

  • In the near future various new services will be created by using ubiquitous computing and ubiquitous network. Especially u-LBS(Ubiquitous Location Based Services) is recognized as one of the most important services. U-LBS is based on the data created by recognizing objects including both human and matters at any time and anywhere. Many researches related with object locating method by using RF are in the process of studying However there are few researches on the location of objects. In this paper we propose the recognition method of the location of objects by using RF and USN technology. In detail, the strength of RF signal is used to recognize the location of objects. Also we discuss about the future work to enhance the recognition rate of location by using a number of conditions including the weather, temperature etc. And Genetic Algorithm is used to get the optimal parameters with which we can get the more exact recognition rate of location.

  • Wireless sensor networks do the monitoring and collecting information in the environment instead of human. Sensor networks are consisted of small sensor nodes with very limited hardware resource and very low network bandwidth. The wireless communication environment causes lots of communication errors so that the sensor network requires error correction technique to increase the reliability of network. The performance of error correction technique could be increased by the researches about the error pattern of CRC. In the paper, we did the performance evaluation - transmission interval, distance between sensor nodes, racket size, and RF power - that affects to the success ratio of data transmission in the indoor environment. we propose the performance metrics of system configuration based on the analysis of performance evaluation.

  • In order to expand cell coverage, increase system capacity, and offer various multimedia service with high throughput in indoor environment, WiBro Access Point(AP) is developed. Home AP is IFA/Omni type and has stack-up structure of channel card and RF board. SOHO AP is designed to support up to 2FA and has remote RF(RRF) structure using UTP method. Inter-operational test with mobile terminal were completed for 3 terminals using web browsing service simultaneously. The performance test results of WiBro AP are as follows: RCE(EVM) value is -34.431 dB for 64-QAM and throughput is up to 6.79 Mbps(DL) and 1.1 Mbps(UL) with 2.5m Line-of-Sight(LOS) condition.

  • In this paper, we described a design and implementation of a sensor node for environmental monitoring. The main focus of design for sensor nodes is to isolate MCU for treating sensors from the RF module for considering various communication environment. The second is to make the interface between MCU and varity of sensor. In addition, we choose a narrow band communication module, cc1020, for the admittance of Korea government communication law. We also use a uC/OS-II as an operating system which is famous for 8bit MCUs. We showed that the communication performance is sufficient to use the communication module in a out-door environment through several experiments in that it is possible to transmit between 100m distance through experiments in a mountain.

  • The EVRC vocoder is a toll quality coder, but it shows significant degradation or the quality in weak RF environment. In this paper, the speech quality degradation phenomenon of the EVRC is analyzed, and two methods are proposed as the solution - the pitch prediction and the gradual increase. The preference tests for various Rf environment are performed for speech quality assessments and both the methods show better performance.

  • In this work, we show that the excessive lattice heating problem due to parasitic pnp transistor action in the diode electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device in the diode input protection circuit, which is favorably used in CMOS RF ICs, can be solved by adopting a symmetrical cathode structure. To explain how the recipe works, we construct an equivalent circuit for input human-body model (HBM) test environment of a CMOS chip equipped with the diode protection circuit, and execute mixed-mode transient simulations utilizing a 2-dimensional device simulator. We attempt an in-depth comparison study by varying device structures to suggest valuable design guidelines in designing the protection diodes connected to the $V_{DD}$ and $V_{SS}$ buses. Even though this work is based on mixed-mode simulations utilizing device and circuit simulators, the analysis given in this work clearly explain the mechanism involved, which cannot be done by measurements.

  • A novel method for extracting frequency slippage signal from radar full pulse sequence is presented. For the radar full pulse sequence received by radar interception receiver, radio frequency (RF) and time of arrival (TOA) of all pulses constitute a two-dimensional information sequence. In a complex and intensive electromagnetic environment, the TOA of pulses is distributed unevenly, randomly, and in a nonstationary manner, preventing existing methods from directly analyzing such time series and effectively extracting certain signal features. This work applies Gaussian noise insertion and structure function to the TOA-RF information sequence respectively such that the equalization of time intervals and correlation processing are accomplished. The components with different frequencies in structure function series are separated using empirical mode decomposition. Additionally, a chaos detection model based on the Duffing equation is introduced to determine the useful component and extract the changing features of RF. Experimental results indicate that the proposed methodology can successfully extract the slippage signal effectively in the case that multiple radar pulse sequences overlap.

  • Niobium oxide thin films were synthesized by reactive rf magnetron sputtering. The target was metallic niobium with 2 inch in diameter and the substrate was n-type Si wafer. To control the surface properties of the films, Nb oxide thin films were obtained at various mixing ratios of argon and oxygen gases. Nb oxide thin films were analyzed with alpha step, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The result of alpha step showed that the thickness of Nb oxide thin films were decreased with increasing the oxygen gas ratios. SEM images showed that the granular morphology was formed at 0% of oxygen gas ratio and then disappeared at 20 and 75% of oxygen gas ratio. The amorphous Nb oxide was observed by XRD at all films. The oxidation state of Nb and O were studied with high resolution Ni 2p and O 1s XPS spectra. And the change in the chemical environment of Nb oxide thin films was investigated by XPS with Ar+ sputtering.
