Low IF Resistive FET Mixer for the 4-Ch DBF Receiver with LNA (LNA를 포함하는 4채널 DBF 수신기용 Low IF Resistive FET 믹서)

  • This paper describes the resistive FET mixer with low IF for the 4-Ch DBF(Digital Beam Forming) receiver with LNA(Low Noise Amplifier). This DBF receiver based on the direct conversion method is generally suitable for high-speed wireless mobile communications. A radio frequency(RF), a local oscillator(LO) and an intermediate frequency(IF) considered in this research are 2.09 ㎓, 2.08 ㎓ and 10㎒, respectively. The RF input power, LO input power and Vgs are used -10㏈m, 6㏈m and -0.4 V, respectively. In the 4-Ch resistive FET mixer with LNA, the measured IF and harmonic components of 10㎒, 20㎒, 2.09㎓ and 4.17㎓ are about -12.5 ㏈m, -57㏈m, -40㏈m and -54㏈m, respectively. The IF output power observed at each channel of 10㎒ is about -12.5㏈m and it is higher 27.5 ㏈m than the maximum harmonic component of 2.09㎓. Each IF output spectrum of the 4-Ch is observed almost same value and it shows a good agreement with the prediction.

개인 휴대 단말 시스템용 표면 탄성파 필터의 동향

  • 본 고에서는 휴대 이동단말 시스템의 복합다기능화 및 단말기내 적용되는 주파수 변조 방식의 변화에 따른 핵심부품으로서 표면탄성파필터의 요구 성능의 변화 및 그에 따른 대응방향에 대해서 설명하고 있다. 현재 전세계적으로 널리 보급되고 있는 코드분할다중접속방식(CDMA)의 이동단말기에서는 수퍼헤테로다인 변복조방식의 적용에 따라 표면탄성파 소자로서 듀플렉서, 송신 RF 필터, 수신 RF 필터 및 수신 IF 필터 등이 적용되어 왔다. 하지만 최근 들어 RF 대역에서 기저대역으로 신호의 직접변환(Direct Conversion)이 가능한 Chipset의 보급과 더불어 급속히 Zero-IF화가 추진되고 있으며, 그에 따라 RE 필터부의 고성능화가 요구되고 있다. Zero-IF Chipset은 신호대 잡음비를 크게 하기 위해서 수신 RE 필터에 있어서 Balance 구동을 기본으로 하고 있으며, 듀플렉서에 있어서는 통과대역의 저손실화, 저지대역의 고감쇠화 및 송수신간 높은 격리도를 요구하고 있다. 본 고에서는 이러한 요구사항을 만족시킬 수 있는 표면탄성파 필터의 구현 원리와 향후 동향에 대해 논의하였다.

  • This paper describes an RF/IF module for 2.4GHz wireless video and audio receivers The designed circuits are implemented using a Teflon board of which the size is $53mm\times42mm$. The measured LNA gain is 15dB, and the VCO output levels are around 2dBm. The sensitivity of the receiver is about -80dBm. The manufactured module consumes 140nA from a 8V supply.

  • The receiver of this paper is Dual-band monopulse type for prototype of tracking radar. Localization of radar technology is an issue of SamsungThales and go into development. Dual-band radar in comparison with Single-band radar requires higher cost and power consumption but there are many advantages of dealing with jamming, detection range, image signal rejection, cloud-rain influence, clutter, resolution. The receiver is comprised of X-band RF head module, Ka-band RF head module and common IF module. Each signal of X-band and Ka-band is selected by the switch in If module. Phase shifter in IF module of local stage controls the phase of sum, azimuth, elevation channel. In the test result, gain is $40{\pm}3 dB$, isolation of transmitter/receiver is 39 dBc, dynamic range is 110 dB and noise figure of each channel is 4.5dB and 6.9dB.

  • In this paper, the design method of portable signal analysis system is proposed and the hardware module is implemented for operation of base stations based on a common platform for mobile WiMax. The new signal analysis method is implemented as two modules; a broadband RF module and a DSP based digital signal analysis module. The RF module performs the RF-IF down conversion and gain control. And the digital module measure the base staion signal. The differences of performance are insignificant in the experiment results performed through the comparison of other fixed-large system and proposed system.

  • This paper presents a wideband single-balanced mixer using a diode which can be used in RF receiver of microwave measurement systems. For wideband characteristic, local oscillator(LO) signal is provided to diode with low loss using a coplanar waveguide-to-slotline balun. For high isolation characteristic radio frequency (RF) port and intermediate frequency (IF) port are designed using directional coupler. This mixer presents 30.5~31.17dB conversion loss whose flatness is within 1dB for 9 kHz~2.6 GHz wideband RF signal, and above 30 dB isolation for LO signal.

Single-ended Differential RF Circuit Topologies Utilizing Complementary MOS Devices

  • Single-ended differential RF circuit topologies fully utilizing complementary characteristics of both NMOS and PMOS are proposed, which have inherent advantage of both single-ended and differential circuits. Using this concept, we propose a CCPP (Complementary CMOS parallel push-pull) amplifier which has single-ended input/output with differential amplifying characteristics, leading to more than 30 dB improvement on $IIP_2$. In addition, complementary resistive mixer is also proposed, which provides not only differential IF outputs from single-ended RF input, but much better linearity as well as isolation characteristics. Experimental results using $0.35{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS process show that, compared with conventional NMOS resistive mixer, the proposed mixer shows 15 dB better LO-to-IF isolation, 4.6 dB better $IIP_2$, and 4.5 dB better $IIP_3$performances.

  • A FSK receiver RF block has been developed for Dubaisat-1 Low Earth Orbit satellite. The receiver has Doppler tracking function which compensate frequency shift on uplink channel for commanding the satellite. It consist of LNA, downconverter and IF module. The IF module has Doppler tracking circuitry which sweep and lock on to input signal. It satisfies the requirement of the Dubaisat-1 in mass, power consumption, tracking speed and BER performance.

RF Shimming Considering Coupling Effects for High-Field MRI

  • The RF shimming technique has been used to improve the transmit RF field homogeneity in highfield MRI. In the RF shimming technique, the amplitude and phase of the driving currents in each coil element are optimized to get homogenous flip angle or uniform image intensity. The inductive and capacitive coupling between the coil elements may degrade the RF field homogeneity if not taken into account in the optimization procedure. In this paper, we have analyzed the coupling effects on the RF shimming using a sixteen-element TEM RF coil model operating at 300 MHz. We have found that the coupling effects on the RF shimming can be reduced by putting high dielectric material between the active rung and the shield.

  • In this paper, we describe a 900MHz CMOS RF transceiver using an ISM band for ZigBee applications. The architecture of the designed rx front-end, which consists of a low noise amplifier, a down-mixer, a programmable gain amplifier and a band pass filter. And the tx front-end, which consists of a band pass filter, a programmable gain amplifier, an up-mixer and a drive amplifier. A low-if topology is adapted for transceiver architecture, and the total current consumption is reduced by using a low power topology. Entire transceiver is verified by means of post-layout simulation and is implemented in 0.18um RF CMOS technology. The fabricated chip demonstrate the measured results of -92dBm minimum rx input level and 0dBm maximum tx output level. Entire power consumption is 32mW(@1.8VDD). Die area is $2.3mm{\times}2.5mm$ including ESD protection diode pads.
