A new method in the fault tree analysis (FTA) for the reliability calculation is suggested. Two steps are necessary in traditional method in evaluation of the occurrence probability of top event in fault tree (FT). The first step is to find the minimal outsets, and the second one is to substitute the result into the poincare equation. In order to reduce the enormous computing time of this method, lots of rapid algorithms have been developed. Almost of all achievements were, however, based on the partial structural properties of FT. In this paper, the FT is transformed to a non-linear graph G which has the same minimal outsets of original n, and then the reliability is calculated using the domination theory. In this new method, the required number of equation terms are at most $2^n$ (n is node number of graph G), while $2^m$-1 (m is the number of minimal cutsets) calculation terms are required in the poincare equation in traditional method. Since m>>n in general. our new method reduces the calculation time significantly.
DES is an improvement of the algorithm Lucifer developed by IBM in the 1977. IBM, the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Bureau of Standards (NBS now National Institute of Standards and Technology NIST) developed the DES algorithm. The DES has been extensively studied since its publication and is the most widely used symmetric algorithm in the world. But nowadays, Triple DES (TDES) is more widely used than DES especially in the application in case high level of data security is required. Even though TDES can be implemented based on standard algorithm, very high speed TDES codec performance is required to process when encrypted high resolution satellite image data is down-linked at high speed. In this paper, Intel SSE2 (Streaming SIMD (Single-Instruction Multiple-Data) Extensions 2 of Intel) is applied to TDES Decryption algorithm and proved its effectiveness in the processing time reduction by comparing the time consumed for two cases; original TDES Decryption and TDES Decryption with SSE2
Recently, manufacturing work been transformed to small acale production from with various items to act up to user's expectation from mass production with a little items required in the past. The FMS using NC type mother machinaries has been applied actively also in domestic manufacturing line to meet thus tendancy, but there are many machining troubles occured in work process not be settled yet. Nowdays high efficiency has been required no less than high precision in grinding work for the improvement of productivity. In this study, to represent more advanced FMS can be adapted to thus situation In-process type monitoring method using AE and Current sensors is suggested to investigatethe machining condition in grinding process. As results from this experimental study, is is recoqnized well that grinding conditions and dressing point of in time can be estimated effectively using monitoring method suggested. Furthermore, surface shape of grinding wheel on voluntary point of in time can be predicted indirectly through the observation and comparison of AE signal waveform obtained as performance of continuous dressing work.
To use the porous silicon as gas sensors, we made the MOPS structure from the porous silicon with Al evaporation and investigated the sensing characteristic of ethanol. When the MOPS structure is in contact with ethanol gas, the maximum peak of PL changes and it return to original intensity without contact. The MOPS structure had response time 0.78s and recovery time 4.13s when it is in contact with ethanol, which satisfied the required sensor standards. Further complimentary researches, however, are required to investigate the contact mechanism between MOPS structure and ethanol and to solve the surface contamination problem.
One of the current challenges in the domain of the multicriteria shape optimization is to reduce the calculation time required by conventional methods. The high computational cost is due to the high number of simulation or function calls required by these methods. Recently, several studies have been led to overcome this problem by integrating a metamodel in the overall optimization loop. In this paper, we perform a coupling between the Normal Boundary Intersection - NBI - algorithm with Radial Basis Function - RBF - metamodel in order to have a simple tool with a reasonable calculation time to solve multicriteria optimization problems. First, we apply our approach to academic test cases. Then, we validate our method against an industrial case, namely, shape optimization of the bottom of an aerosol can undergoing nonlinear elasto-plastic deformation. Then, in order to select solutions among the Pareto efficient ones, we use the same surrogate approach to implement a method to compute Nash and Kalai-Smorodinsky equilibria.
This paper considers a routing and wavelength assignment problem (RWAP) for the implementation of efficient Wavelength Division Multiplexing all-optical mesh networks without wavelength conversion. For a given physical network and required connections, the solution to the RWAP consists in how to select a suitable path and wavelength among the many possible choices for each connection so that no two paths using the same wavelength pass through the same link, while minimizing the number of required wavelengths. We introduce an integer programming formulation of the RWAP, which has an exponential number of variables, and propose an algorithm to solve it based on the column generation technique. The proposed algorithm can yield high quality solutions and tight lower bounds at the same time. Though the proposed algorithm cannot guarantee optimal solutions, computational results show that the algorithm yields provably good solutions within a reasonable time.
ECG pattern was classified using a back-propagation neural network. An improved feature extractor of ECG is proposed for better classification capability. It is consisted of preprocessing ECG signal by an FIR filter faster than conventional one by a factor of 5. QRS complex recognition by moving-window integration, and peak extraction by quadratic approximation. Since the FIR filter had a periodic frequency spectrum, only one-fifth of usual processing time was required. Also, segmentation of ECG signal followed by quadratic approximation of each segment enabled accurate detection of both P and T waves. When improtant features were extracted and fed into back-propagation neural network for pattern classification, the required number of nodes in hidden and input layers was reduced compared to using raw data as an input, also reducing the necessary time for study. Accurate pattern classification was possible by an appropriate feature selection.
Recently, methodologies for developing brain-computer interface (BCI) games using the BCI have been actively researched. The existing general framework for processing brain waves does not provide the functions required to develop BCI games. Thus, developing BCI games is difficult and requires a large amount of time. Effective BCI game development requires a BCI game framework. Therefore the BCI game framework should provide the functions to generate discrete values, events, and converted waves considering the difference between the brain waves of users and the BCIs of those. In this paper, BCI game frameworks for processing brain waves for BCI games are proposed. A variety of processes for converting brain waves to apply the measured brain waves to the games are also proposed. In an experiment the frameworks proposed were applied to a BCI game for visual perception training. Furthermore, it was verified that the time required for BCI game development was reduced when the framework proposed in the experiment was applied.
An investigation was performed to reveal the removal rates of organic constituents of the litters in a Phragmithea longivalvis grassland in a Delta of the Nakdong River, The removal rates of the inorganic and organic materials are determined by the mathematical models. The removal rates and time required to decay up to a percentage of each organic constituent were calculated using these new models. The removal rates of cold water soluble fractions, other carbohydrates, hot water soluble fractions, cellulose, crude fat, lignin and crude protein were 2.67, 1.39, 1.25, 1.02, 0.92, 0.49 and 0.47, respectively, The periods required to reach half time to the steady state of the removal and accumulation for cold water soluble fractions, other carbohydrates, hot water soluble fractions, cellulose, crude fat, lignin and crude protein of the litter were 0.26, 0.50, 0.55, 0.68, 0.75, 1.41 and 1.48 years, respectively.
Ethernet is being deployed in metropolitan area networks (MANs) as a lower-cost alternative to SONET-based infrastructures. MANs are usually required to support common communication services, such as voice and frame relay, based on legacy synchronous TDM technology in addition to asynchronous packet data transport. This paper addresses the clock synchronization problem that arises when transporting synchronous services over an asynchronous packet infrastructure, such as Ethernet. A novel algorithm for clock synchronization is presented combining time-stamp methods used in the network time protocol (NTP) with signal processing techniques applied to measured packet interarrival times. The algorithm achieves the frequency accuracy, stability, low drift, holdover performance, and rapid convergence required for viable emulation of TDM circuit services over Ethernet.
