  • Several trials and errors were repeated to develop a simplified recipe of amylose analysis using a Rapid Flow Autoanalyzer(Alpkem, RFA-300). The amylose content of rice samples analyzed by the Rapid Flow Autoanalyzer were compared with those of Williams’ and Juliano’s assay. The results by the simplified recipe of RFA amylose analysis were highly correlated with those by Williams’ and Juliano’s method(r=0.95$^{**}$-0.97$^{**}$). The relative amylose content of defatted rice starch was higher than those of non-defatted rice flour, showing very close correlations between those analyzed by three method.

  • It has been reported that mechanical stimulation takes a role in improving eel/ growth in skeletal system. Various research groups have been showed their own bioreactors which stimulate cell-seed three-dimensional scaffold. In this study, we hypothesized that the various conditions of mechanical stimulation would affect cell growth and proliferation. To prove our hypothesis, we designed a custom-made bioreactor capable of applying controlled compression to cell-encapsulated scaffolds. This device consisted of a circulation system and a compression system. Each parts of the bioreactor was fabricated using the rapid prototyping technology By using the rapid prototyping technology, we can modify and improve the bioreactor very rapidly For dynamic cell-culture, cell-encapsulated agarose gel was fabricated in 2% concentration. We performed dynamic cell-culture using this agarose gel and developed bioreactor in 3 days.

  • Rapid Prototype has been used to design and Production of part in a variety of fields ; Car, Electronic products, Aviation, Heavy industry etc. Moreover development of hardware gave rise to use the method of Rapid Prototype more and more at high precision and complicated shapes. Expecially, to be using process of products that shapes of Micro-hole ; Cellular phones, Antennas, Jewels, Semi conductor cases. In case of Micro-shape, precision of the shape turns on various condition ; Laser size, Laminate height, scanning speed, overcure, viscosity of resin, etc. Sometimes breaks out the case that interner hole of shape is blocked by viscosity of resin. The phenomenon has solved easily to reduce viscosity of resin. But, in case of the method brings about the problem that strength goes down in actuality products hardening. This study on verify to change of shape of Micro-hole and makes the semiconductor case which has shape of Micro-hole by using resin of higher viscosity, scanning speed and overcure

  • Optimum design conditions of rapid mixing impellers for an effective Water Treatment Plant operation were experimentally studied by thorough examination of parameters, such as impeller type and detention time. which govern the removal efficiency of turbidity. It was found that the impeller type is one of the major parameters governing the economic power consumption and the efficiency of turbidity removal. The experimental results showed that not only the velocity gradient G but also a new design guide. so called mixing energy per unit volume of raw water, could be used as a design and operation guides for rapid mixing in W.T.P.

  • This is a case report of a 12.5-year-old girl who presented with moderate to severe anterior dental crowding and rotations. Treatment involved no extraction, but expansion of both the maxillary and the mandibular arches. Maxillary expansion was assisted by rapid palatal expansion despite the fact that this patient did not present with posterior crossbite. Crowding and rotations in both arches were corrected and good occlusal function and improved facial esthetic were achieved, with acceptable overbite and overjet. The application of rapid maxillary expansion in cases with no posterior crossbite, which has increased in recent years, calls for re-evaluation of the diagnostic basis and indications for the use of this technique.

  • Although South Korea experienced a rolling blackout in 2011, the possibility of a blackout in South Korea continues to increase due to rapid electrification. This study examines the problems of energy taxation and price distortions as possible reasons for the rapid electrification in South Korea, which is occurring at a faster rate than in Japan, Europe, and other developed countries. Further, we suggest new energy taxation and price systems designed to normalize electricity prices. In order to do so, we consider two possible scenarios: the first imposes a tax on bituminous coal for electricity generation and the second levies a tax to provide compensation for the potential damages from a nuclear accident. Based on these scenarios, we analyze the effects of a new energy system on electricity price and demand. The results show that a new energy system could guarantee the power generation costs and balance the relative prices between energy sources, and could also help prevent rapid electrification. Therefore, the suggested new energy system is expected to be utilized as a basis for energy policy to decrease the speed of electrification, thus preventing a blackout, and to induce the rational consumption of energy in South Korea.

  • The ZTO single layer and ZTO/Ag/ZTO tri-layer films were deposited on glass substrates by using the radio frequency (RF) and direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering and then rapid thermal annealed (RTA) in a low pressure condition for 10 minutes at 150 and $300^{\circ}C$, respectively. As deposited tri-layer films show the 81.7% of visible transmittance and $4.88{\times}10^{-5}{\Omega}cm$ of electrical resistivity, while the films annealed at $300^{\circ}C$ show the increased visible transmittance of 82.8%. The electrical resistivity also decreased as low as $3.64{\times}10^{-5}{\Omega}cm$. From the observed results, it is concluded that rapid thermal annealing (RTA) is an attractive post-deposition process to optimize the opto-elecrtical properties of ZTO/Ag/ZTO tri-layer films for the various display applications.

  • The transition from "More-of-Less" markets (economies of scale) to "Less-of-More" markets (economies of scope) is supported by advances of disruptive manufacturing and reconfigurable-supply-chain management technologies. With the prevalence of cyber-physical manufacturing systems, additive manufacturing technology is of great impact on industry, the economy, and society. Traditionally, backbone structures are built via bottom-up manufacturing with either pre-fabricated building blocks such as bricks or with layer-by-layer concrete casting such as climbing form-work casting. In both cases, the design selection is limited by form-work design and cost. Accordingly, the tool-less building of architecture with high design freedom is attractive. In the present study, we review the technological trends of additive manufacturing for construction-scale additive manufacturing in particular. The rapid tooling of patterns or molds and rapid manufacturing of construction parts or whole structures is extensively explored through uncertainties from technology. The future regulation still has drawbacks in the adoption of additive manufacturing in construction industries.

  • A rapid PCR-based assay for detecting hepatitis B viral DNA(HBV DNA) in serum and plasma was developed using a new PCR instrument named GenSpector(TMC-1000, Samsung electronics). PCR was carried out using a chip-based platform, which enabled 50 PCR cycles with internal controls, and melting-curve analysis in 30 minutes. Verification of the amplified HBV DNA product and the internal control was based on specific melting temperatures(Tm) analysis, executed by the GenSpector software. Primers were designed within the region conserved through HBV genotypes A to F. The lower limit of detection was 840 copies/ml serum, conducted with serial dilutions of a HBV DNA positive control(ACCURUN 325 series 700, Boston Biomedica Inc.). The assay was also compared to another assay for HBV DNA(Versant HBV DNA 3.0 assay, Bayer HealthCare) for 200 samples(each 100 clinical negative and positive samples). The sensitivity and specificity were 100% matched. This rapid PCR-based assay is specific, reproducible, and enables qualitative detection of HBV DNA.

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of rapid-setting polymer-modified asphalt mixtures with a high reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) content. METHODS: A literature review revealed that emulsified asphalt is actively used for cold-recycled pavement. First, two types of rapid-setting polymer-modified asphalt emulsion were prepared for application to high-RAP material with no virgin material content. The quick-setting polymer-modified asphalt mixtures using two types of rapid-setting polymer-modified asphalt emulsion were subjected to the following tests: 1) Marshall stability test, 2) water immersion stability test and 3) indirect tensile strength ratio test. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : Additional re-calibration of the RAP was needed for laboratory verification because the results of analyzing RAP aggregates, which were collected from different job sites, did not deviate from the normal range. The Marshall stability of each type of binder under dry conditions was good. However, the Type B mixtures with bio-additives performed better in the water immersion stability test. Moreover, the overall results of the indirect tensile strength test of RAP mixtures with Type B emulsions exceeded 0.7. Further research, consisting of lab testing and on-site application, will be performed to verify the possibility of using RAP for minimizing the closing of roadways.
