  • Given a prime number p and a natural number m not divisible by p, we propose the problem of finding the smallest number r0 such that for r ≥ r0, every group G of order prm has a non-trivial normal p-subgroup. We prove that we can explicitly calculate the number r0 in the case where every group of order prm is solvable for all r, and we obtain the value of r0 for a case where m is a product of two primes.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to find out the effect of core competency and teaching style on preceptor self-efficacy among preceptors. Methods: One hundred twelve nurses working at four university hospitals with previous preceptor experience participated in the survey. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression. Results: The preceptors used 'judgment-initiative' teaching style most frequently, and reported the highest scores in the role model dimension of core competency. There were significant positive relations between age (r=.266, p=.005), clinical experience (r=.274, p=.004), preceptorship experience (r=.204, p=.032), core competency (r=.593, p<.001) and preceptor self- efficacy. But preceptor self-efficacy was not significantly different depending on the teaching style (F=0.72, p=.54). The most predictive factors of the preceptor self-efficacy were core competency and teaching style (judgment)(F=31.849, p<.001). The explained variance for preceptor self-efficacy was 35.9% in the model. Conclusion: The preceptor self-efficacy is essential for the preceptors' successful teaching experience and the clinical competency improvement of the entry level nurses. Management for an effective preceptor training program needs to focus on the improvement of core competency of preceptors, which will lead to strengthen their self-efficacy.

  • Electrical wire explosion in liquid media is a promising method for producing metallic nanopowders. It is possible to obtain high-purity metallic nanoparticles and uniform-sized nanopowder with excellent dispersion stability using this electrical wire explosion method. In this study, Ni-Fe alloy nanopowders with core-shell structures are fabricated via the electrical explosion of Ni-Fe alloy wires 0.1 mm in diameter and 20 mm in length in de-ionized water. The size and shape of the powders are investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and laser particle size analysis. Phase analysis and grain size determination are conducted by X-ray diffraction. The result indicate that a core-shell structured Ni-Fe nanopowder is synthesized with an average particle size of approximately 28 nm, and nanosized Ni core particles are encapsulated by an Fe nanolayer.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the factors determining core journals in a field based upon the results of the citation analysis of the journals in the field of Korean History(KH). In order to verify the determinant factors, dividing the articles of the KH journals into their novelty and author's seniority, the following hypotheses were established. Hypothesis 1: When a KH journal publishes more articles on prehistoric and ancient eras than others, the journal will have higher chance to be included in the core journals. Hypothesis 2: When a KH journal publishes more articles by senior researchers than others, the journal will have higher chance to be included in the core journals. To achieve the purpose, the cited articles found in the two sample journals, namely, Backsan Hakbo and Hanguksa Yongu were analysed during the past 20 years from 1962 to 1981. Applying the Hirst's Discipline Impact Factor method to the the study, Historical Science Impact Factor(HSIF) on the samples itself and the historical era dealt with in the articles and the seniority of the authors during every five-year period. Based upon thr present study to ver~fy the two hypotheses, the following conclusions have been reached. 1) Tht. most influencing sublect mattcr era or1 thix liSIF of the lo~lrual is arranged in prehistoric arid ancient, Koryo, Chosun, recent era, and the others by order of era. 2 ) Clial~g~~lg a fringe or semicore journal u~to a core j ~ u r n a l , very IISIF' 011 it> article e r a 1s grown up arrd prcllistoric a ~ ~ d ancierlt era:. are, s p c c ~ a l l ~ , incr.eased high relatively. • Recently, various type of nanomaterials such as nanorod, nanowire, nanotube and their core/shell nanostructures have attracted much attention in photocatalyst due to their unique properties. Among them, Type-II core/shell heterostructures have extensively studied because it has exhibited improved electrical and optical properties against their single-component nanostructure. Such structures are expected to offer high absorption efficiency and fast charge transport due to their stepwised energetic combination and large internal surface area. Thus, it has been considered as potential candidates for high efficient photocatalytic activity. In this work, we introduce a novel chemical conversion process to synthesize Type-II ZnO/ZnSe core/shell heterostructures. A plausible conversion mechanism to ZnO/ZnSe core/shell heterostructres was proposed based on SEM, XRD, TEM and XPS analysis. The ZnO/ZnSe heterostructures exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity toward the decomposition of RhB dye compared to the ZnO nanorod arrays due to enhanced light absorption and the type-II cascade band structure.
