  • In this paper, an equivalent circuit reflecting the internal loss of the LLC resonant half bridge converter was proposed and a steady state characteristic equation including the loss factors was derived. Using the results, the frequency characteristics of I/O voltage gain and input impedance were compared with the lossless model In order to verify the proposed model and the derived equation, the main components of the 1kW class LLC resonant half bridge converter were selected under the same conditions and the steady state characteristics such as voltage gain and input impedance were compared. In particular, to compare more closely the steady state error of the two models, we observed the change in switching frequency with respect to the load current, which is considered to be the most important in the actual circuit design stage. As a result, it is confirmed that the error of the operating frequency is significantly improved from the proposed model and the analysis result.

  • The inverter resistance welder requires AC/DC converter of high efficiency because the converter changes a commercial ac power source to low voltage dc power source. Harmonic components that occur in the conversion process of converter decrease system power factor and deal great damage in electric power system. To improve such problems, this paper proposes a high efficiency AC/DC converter for inverter resistance welder. The switching devices in the proposed converter are operated by soft switching technique using a new quasi-resonant circuit. As a result, the proposed AC/DC converter obtains low switching power loss and high efficiency.

  • A new class of zero-voltage switching (ZVS) pulse width modulated (PWM) half-bridge converter is investigated. The new converter is capable of switching zero voltage and keeping advantages of quasi-resonant half-bridge converter while maintaining constant frequency operation. The theoretical analysis of a ZVS PWM half bridge converter is presented and is verified by PSPICE simulation results.

  • A new integrated single-stage zero current switched(ZCS) quasi resonant convertedQRC) for the IX)wer f factor correction(PFCl converter is introduced in this paper. The power factor correction can be achieved by t the discontinuous conduction mod$\varepsilon$(DCM) operation of an input current. The proposed converter has the c characteristics of the good IX)wer factor, 10씨 line current harmonics, and tight output regulation. Furthern10re, t the ringing effect due to the output capacitance of the main switch can be eliminated by use of‘ active clamp c circuit. Therefore, the proIX)sed converter is expecttc'(] to be suitable for a compact power converter with a t tightly regulated output voltage requiring a switching frequency of more than several hundrtc'(]s kHz.

  • In this thesis, the lead-lag compensator is designed to improve output characteristics of flyback zero voltage switching quasi-resonant converters. The switch and the diode are assumed ideally. And the SMPS is modelled by state equations with four operation modes. And the model for controller design is also achived by using a state space averaging method, which is continuous time average of state variables every period. The lag, the lead and the lead-lag compensator is designed the SMPS respectively. The time domain analysis and the frequency domain analysis are done for each compensated circuit. It is possible increasing the phase margin and improving the transient response by the compensators. The phase lag compensator has small overshoot comparatively. But the bandwidth is narrower than the others, so it has longest settling time. For the phase lead compensator, the response come to steady-state within short period. But the overshoot is the largest due to its large peak gain. Finally, the phase lead-lag compensator has medium characteristics in the overshoot and the settling time.

  • Recently, DC-DC converters significantly increase the total losses as rising switching frequency. Trnditional soft switching technique for reducing switching losses even increase voltage/Clment stress of switch In this paper, Resonant circuit for soft switching is connected in parallel with power stage and only operates just before tum-on of the main sWItch. Therefore, ills doesn't affect the total circuit QI'||'&'||'pound;ration. The object of tIns paper is to make the linearized equivalent loss mxleIs. and to analyze the total losses by experiment. ZVT-PWlvI converter designed with 170-260[V] input, 400[V] 5[A] output, and 100[kHz] switching frequency is tested respectively with 500[W], 1[kW], 1.5[kW], and 2[kW] loads. The total losses in input 220[V], 2[kW] load are analyzed by usirm the linearized equivalent loss models.

  • A design of a Class-E inverter with only one inductor and one capacitor is presented. It is operated at the optimal operation mode for domestic cooker. The design principle is based on the zero-voltage derivative switching (ZVDS) of the Class-E inverter with a parallel load network, which is a parallel resonant equivalent circuit. An induction load characterization is obtained from a large-signal excitation test bench, which is the key to an accurate design of the induction cooker system. Consequently, the proposed scheme provides a more systematic, simple, accurate, and feasible solution than the conventional quasi-resonant inverter analysis based on series load network methodology. The derivative of the switch voltage is zero at the turn-on transition, and its absolute value is relatively small at the turn-off transition. Switching losses and noise are reduced. The parameters of the ZVDS Class-E inverter for the domestic induction cooker must be selected properly, and details of the design of the components of this Class-E inverter need to be addressed. A 1,200 W prototype is designed and evaluated to verify the validation of the proposed topology.

  • In order to increase the power conversion efficiency and improve the power factor, a modified forward converter is proposed, which adopts a capacitive output filter instead of the inductive output filter of the conventional forward converter. Therefore, the proposed converter has wide input voltage range in opposite to that of the conventional forward converters. Moreover, the proposed converter uses the critical conduction mode for automatic current shaping to improve the power factor. As a result, the proposed converter can achieve quasi-resonant zero-voltage-switching, which can minimize the switching loss of main MOSFET. In addition, the operational principle of the proposed converter is analyzed and the characteristic of the proposed converter is investigated in this paper. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed converter, a prototype of 13W is implemented and the experimental results are discussed in more detail.
