  • We investigated theoretically the quantum optical transition properties of Si, in quasi 2-Dimensinal Landau splitting system, based on quantum transport theory. We apply the quantum transport theory (QTR) to the system in the confinement of electrons by square well confinement potential under linearly polarized oscillating field. We use the projected Liouville equation method with Equilibrium Average Projection Scheme (EAPS). In order to analyze the quantum transition, we compare the temperature and the magnetic field dependencies of the QTLW and the QTLS on four transition processes, namely, the intra-leval transition process, the inter-leval transition process, the phonon emission transition process and the phonon absorption transition process.

  • Employing of 13C stable-isotopes in NMR metabolomics can give unique splitting patterns and coupling constants information originated from 13C-13C coupling interaction that provide an important structural information regarding the cellular metabolic process. But it has been known that an undesirable signal distortion in 2D heteronuclear correlation study, due to 13C-13C interaction, hampers an analysis of the coupling information. Recently, we proposed J-scaled distortion-free heteronuclear single-quantum coherence (HSQC) sequence which provides a distortion-free 13C-13C coupling information with a selective resolution enhancement of JCC splitting. In this paper, we dicuss theoretical aspect and practical feature of J-scaled HSQC pulse sequence. The conceptual explanation of orgin of the signal distortion by 13C-13C coupling interaction and design of J-scaled HSQC through exemplified results are provided in brief.

  • This work provides an alternative derivation of third order response functions in four wave mixing spectroscopy of multichromophoric macromolecular systems considering only single exciton states. For the case of harmonic oscillator bath linearly and diagonally coupled to exciton states, closed form expressions showing all the explicit time dependences are derived. These expressions can provide more solid physical basis for understanding 2-dimensional electronic spectroscopy signals. For more general cases of system-bath coupling, the quantum master equation (QME) approach is employed for the derivation of multistep time evolution equations for Green function-like operators. Solution of these equations is feasible at the level of 2nd order non-Markovian QME, and the new approach can account for inter-exciton coupling, dephasing, relaxation, and non-Markovian effects in a consistent manner.

  • Monte Carlo simulations show that, as temperature increases, the average kinetic energy of channel electrons in a GaN transistor first decreases and then increases. According to the calculations, the relative energy change reaches 40%. This change leads to a reduced barrier height due to quantum coupling among the three-dimensional motions of channel electrons. Thus, an analysis and physical model of the gate leakage current that includes drift velocity is proposed. Numerical calculations show that the negative and positive temperature dependence of gate leakage currents decreases across the barrier as the field increases. They also demonstrate that source-drain voltage can have an effect of 1 to 2 orders of magnitude on the gate leakage current. The proposed model agrees well with the experimental results.

  • In this work, we summarize the calculation processes of obtaining a scattering factor using with the equilibrium average projection scheme (EAPS), with moderately weak coupling (MWC) interaction, and obtain the line-shape formula of an electron-deformation phonon interacting system interested in the confinement of electrons by squarwell confinement potentials in quantum two dimensional system.. Through the numerical analysis, we analysis the magnetic dependence of absorption power, P(B) in several temperature and frequency difference dependence of absorption power $P({\Delta}{\omega})$, in several external field, where ${\Delta}{\omega}={\omega}-{\omega}_0$ and ${\omega}({\omega}_0)$ is the angular frequency (the cyclotron resonance frequency). The result of equilibrium average projection scheme (EAPS) in SER-MWC explains the properties of quantum transition quite well.

  • Resonance fluorescence is the manifestation of the interaction between the physical system under consideration and the vacuum-field fluctuation. The fluorescence spectrum provides such physical informations as the energy-level structure of the system, instabilities and relative populations of the energy levels, etc.. One of the typical fluorescence spectra is the Mollow triplet appearing when two-level atoms are driven by a strong coherent field in free space$^{(1)}$ . In the weak field limit, the singlet instead of the triplet is obtained with a reduced linewidth due to the squeezing of one quadrature phase of the induced atomic dipole$^{(2)}$ . On the other hand, when the atoms are put inside a cavity rather than in free space, a doublet spectrum due to the vacuum Rabi-splitting is achieved, showing clearly the coupling of atoms and the cavity in the single-quantum limit$^{(3)}$ . • High-quality superconducting coplanar waveguide (SCPW) resonators are crucial for developing superconducting quantum information devices and sensors. We designed quarter-wavelength SCPW resonators and fabricated the SCPW resonators using Nb thin film. The resonant characteristics were measured at T = 4.2 K, revealing the intrinsic quality factor and the coupling quality factor to be Qi = 4,784 and Qc = 17, 980, respectively. Our design and fabrication techniques would be very useful to develop a gate-tunable superconducting qubit based on the semiconductor nanostructures.

  • Distributed optical feedback by gain coupling in V-groove quantum-wire lasers is investigated using InGaAs/AlGaAs active materials grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). In order to avoid grating overgrowth during the fabrication of DFB structures, a newly developed constant MOCVD growth method is employed. Gain anisotropy in emission spectra near Bragg wavelength, resulting from optical feedback along the DFB direction, is clearly observed at room temperature.

  • Strategies to facilitate carrier transfer/transport while preserving confined characteristics of isolated nanocrystal quantum dots (NQDs) will be discussed. Specifically, synthesis and characterizations of 1) the fabrication of neat NQD solids (assembled NQD films) with modified surfaces by attaching ligands or by applying physical processes such as heat annealing [J. Phys. Chem. C (2011), 115(3), 607] and 2) coupling NQDs to one-dimensional nanostructures such as single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) [ACS Nano, (2010) 4(1), 324] will be presented. Further, recent achievement ours of fabricating NQDs assemblies into photovoltaic devices for elucidating transfer mechanism witll be discussed.

  • We introduce a scheme with a maximized efficiency of detecting atoms passing through an optical standing-wave mode cavity. Consider a standing-wave optical cavity illuminated by a weak probe beam through one of its mirrors where the transmission through the other mirror is monitored by a photodetector. If an atom is put in the cavity, the atom-cavity coupling shifts the resonance frequency of the system via the so-called normal mode splitting, and thereby the transmission power will drop. In fact, this type of atom detection scheme has been used in recent single atom trap experiments In practice, however, the field in a standing-wave mode will have a geometrical structure having nodes and antinodes that when the atom traverses the cavity through one of the nodes, there will be no such effect of atom-field interaction.
