The issues of “Integration” in quality management and related fields have been discussed for a few years. Literature review reveals that this is a large and multi-disciplinary topic. Although there are many publications on this issue, very few well-cited articles show direct illustration to why, what and how to implement the “Integration” strategy in quality management. This paper presents a panoramic review and vision on “Integration” issues of quality management, in the perspectives of concept, scope, organization, information, process, and culture.
Purpose: This study compares quality crisis and management at Hyundai Motor in the late 1990s and Toyota Motor in the late 2000s. We can expect to induce more meaningful policy implications in quality management from this in-depth comparative case study. Methods: This study compares two cases at Hyundai and Toyota Motor how to overcome quality crisis based on the OESP (Organization-Environments-Strategy- Performance) model. Results: Hyundai Motor shows centralized approach based on the asymmetric organizational culture and the entrepreneurial leadership but Toyota shows decentralized, systematic approach based on the steady state leadership and symmetric organizational culture. The CEO's leadership have proved to be one of the important factors at both companies. Conclusion: The effective quality management in global contexts has become more and more difficult for the 'complexity explosions' in automobile industry. As a consequence, the future competitive edge of world automobile industry will come from the effective quality management of products in global contexts.

Organizations worldwide have implemented quality management system, ISO 9001:2000 and environmental management system, ISO 14001:2004. Researches have been conducted regarding occupational health and safety management system, integration of these management systems, and extension to corporate social responsibility and sustain ability management system, ISO 26000. This paper examines quality and environment management systems for machinery and metal companies using audit results. We perform statistical tests to see if there are any significant differences of minor nonconformities for requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 based on implementation motive, operating periods, and organization's size. We also present causes and reasons for statistical differences and minor nonconformities to use as references for implementing efficiently quality management system and environment management system.

Performance measurement is increasingly becoming a vital issue for promoting quality management within an organization. This research proposes a new performance measurement approach, called the Hierarchically Associated Performance Measurement, for the organizations which emphasize long term quality thrust through a balanced interface between the quality efforts of various units. The proposed approach is unique in that it considers relationships between internal quality activities and national quality award criteria and that it identifies and utilizes the quality responsibilities of functional units in order to encompass organizational roles in the evaluation process. The approach is illustrated via a numerical evaluation of a fictitious organization.
The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the quality competence as a source of competitive advantages. The relationship between quality priority and competitive priority, and the relationship between quality competence and competitive capability are investigated using data collected from 114 manufacturing business units of 75 manufacturing companies. Several measures are used to characterize competitive strategy and value chain, and quality factors including conformance, reliability, durability, performance, and customization. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of quality management system requirements, a management innovation technique, on business performance to secure the competitiveness of SMEs in an environment of increasing uncertainty in the global economy and intensifying competition. To this end, a survey was conducted on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating a quality management system, and statistical analysis was performed through validity and reliability analysis, regression analysis, and group analysis using IBM SPSS 26.0. As a result of the study, it was found that planning, operation, support, and improvement, which are the core requirements of a quality management system, have a positive effect on business performance. In addition, through group analysis, it was found that the effect of quality management system requirements on business performance varies according to the level of the company. This means that the importance of quality management requirements required for strategy establishment varies according to the quality management introduction level of small and medium-sized manufacturers, and it can be used for small and medium-sized manufacturers to set strategic directions.
The AS9100 standard builds upon the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system requirements(in their entirety) and defines additional quality management system requirements for the aerospace industry. The 9100 standard on quality management system requirements is intended to be used at all levels of the supplier chain. The International Aerospace Quality Group has released a revision to 9100 for the aviation, space and defense industries. This change aims at improvement on quality, schedule and cost performance by adopting new requirements based on stakeholders' needs. This paper is to review how the AS9100 QMS Requirement has been established and improved, and to communicate the significant changes from AS9100, Rev. B to Rev. C focusing on reasons for revisions. The proposed schedule and considerations on the transition of the changes to Rev. C are also dealt with in this paper.

This study investigated the needs to improve the quality of foodservice management in community child centers (CCCs), in accordance to the area where the CCC was located. The people in charge of foodservice management of 466 community child centers undertook a web survey, between July to August 2016. Most centers used menus from the Headquarters of Community Child Center (50.0%) or Center for Children's Foodservice Management (34.1%). Factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted to assess the requirement for improving the quality of foodservice management at the CCCs. Four factors were analyzed: 'food material and facility management', 'administration management', 'menu management', and 'human resources management'. In large cities, 'administration management' and 'menu management' were found to affect quality improvement. In small cities, none of the factors assessed were effective in improvement. 'human resources management' had a significant influence on improving the quality of the foodservice in rural areas. The results of this study show that there was a difference in the quality improvement of the foodservice management in the centers, with respect to the location of the center. Therefore, this study can be used as basic data to establish the support policy for improving the quality of foodservice management in community child centers.
