Recently, direct rolling process, called as strip casting process, has been interested in to save production cost by reducing forming processes. In direct rolling process, since a steel strip of thickness 1-5(mm) can be produced directly from molten metal, it can eliminate secondary hot rolling process. On the other hand, since many process variables are existed in this process and relation of these variables is very complex, it is difficult to realize the process design and the quality control. In this paper, as first step to overcome above difficulties, the quantitative relationship of the process variables affected to quality of the strip has been carried out through the numerical analysis. Also, we determined the process variable to monitor the quality in the direct rolling process. As a result, we show that the solidification final point, called as Nip point, was related directly to quality of the strip.

20-Hydroxyecdysone was isolated from Melandrii Herba and identified by the spectroscopic methods. In order to evaluate the quality of it, quantitative determination of 20-hydroxyecdysone in Melandrii Herba using HPLC method has been conducted. Content of 20-hydroxyecdysone in Melandrii Herba showed average 0.0138% in 42 samples collected throughout the regions of Korea.

On the quality control of commercial Zingiberis Rhizoma and its processed product, quantitative determination of 6-gingerol using HPLC method has been conducted. Quantitative analysis off-gingerol in Zingiberis Rhizoma showed average 0.359% in 14 samples collected throughout the regions of Korea. The contents of 6-gingerol in Zingiberis Rhizome were decreased during the processing procedure (0.306%).

Sanguisorbae Radix has hemostatic, analgesic and astrigent properties and it has been used for the treatment of burns, scalds and internal hemorrhage. Ziyuglycoside I was isolated from Sanguisorbae Radix and identified by the spectroscopic methods. In order to evaluate the quality of it, quantitative determination of Ziyuglycoside I in Sanguisorbae Radix using HPLC method has been conducted. Quantitative analysis of Ziyuglycoside I showed average 3.005% in 30 samples collected throughout the regions of Korea.

The problem of jointly determining the optimum process mem and screening limits for each market is considered in situations where there are several markets with different price/cost structures. Two inspection procedures are considered; an inspection based on the quality characteristic of interest, and an inspection based on a surrogate variable which is highly correlated with the quality characteristic. The quality characteristic is assumed to be a normal distribution with unknown mean and known variance. A Taguchi's quadratic loss function is utilized for developing the economic model for determining the optimum process mean and screening limits. A numerical example is given.

We discuss the feed back control of the on-line QC in the Taguchi method. Taguchi(1982) used the assumptions that the quality characteristics follow an uniform distribution and the Brownian motion to draw the loss function and proposed ${\Delta}/3$ or ${\Delta}$ for the initial control limit. Adams and Woodall(1989) also proposed a different procedure but using the same loss function. We propose, in this paper the new loss function under the assumption of mainly Brownian motion and compare the results with the results of the above.

This study was performed to determine the adequate resolution and compression method in teleradiology. A digital imaging system using Machintosh IT ci computer, 15' Sony high resolution RGB monitor, Umax Power look flatbed scanner with transparency unit and 12 panoramic radiographs were used. The results were as follows : 1. Relative detectability at the group scanned by 30ddpi, 600dpi and 1200dpi was same as those at the real panoramic radiographs. 2. Perceivable image quality degradation was found at the 25％ of middle quality of JPEG compression. But those were not diagnostically significant. 3. Perceivable image quality degradation was found at the 100％ of low quality of JPEG compression. And 8cases among them were diagnostically significant. On the basis of the above results, it is considered that the adequate resolution in scanning radiographs for teleradiology is 300dpi and compression method is the middle quality of JPEG compression.

Recently, HTTP Adaptive Streaming(HAS), a video streaming service over the HTTP based web platform has become common. The use of HAS service in mobile communication devices such as mobile phones and tablet PCs is rapidly expanding. This paper addresses ways to improve the quality of HAS service by enhancing the terms of viewer satisfaction. HAS systems have several internal operational processes, which can affect viewer satisfaction. Such processes include, the quality determination for the next video chunk, the TCP connections-setup procedure and the congestion control operation of the TCP. This paper proposes a transmission scheme to improve the HAS quality services over mobile web. The proposed scheme takes into consideration the past implicit communication state of the receiver's playback buffer occupancy. The results of these experiments indicate that the proposed scheme can improve the quality of HAS service from the mobile viewer's point of view.

Rehmanniae Radix Preparata attributes good blood circulation and it has been used for the treatment of dizziness, men's sterility, excessive loss of blood and weakness. On the quality control of the commercial Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, quantitative determination of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (5-HMF) using HPLC method has been conducted. Quantitative analysis of 5-HMF in Rehmanniae Radix Preparata showered average 0.121${\pm}$0.063% in 14 samples collected throughout the regions of Korea. Contents of loss on drying, residue on ignition and residue on acid insoluble ignition showered average 14.084${\pm}$2.804%, 3.415${\pm}$0.790% and 0.807${\pm}$0.474% respectively.
