If a multiplicative function f is commutable with a quadratic form x² + xy + y², i.e., f(x² + xy + y²) = f(x)² + f(x) f(y) + f(y)², then f is the identity function. In other hand, if f is commutable with a quadratic form x² - xy + y², then f is one of three kinds of functions: the identity function, the constant function, and an indicator function for ℕ ＼ pℕ with a prime p.

We evaluate the convolution sum $W_{a,b}(n):=\sum_{al+bm=n}{\sigma}(l){\sigma}(m)$ for (a, b) = (1, 28),(4, 7),(2, 7) for all positive integers n. We use a modular form approach. We also re-evaluate the known sums $W_{1,14}(n)$ and $W_{1,7}(n)$ with our method. We then use these evaluations to determine the number of representations of n by the octonary quadratic form $x^2_1+x^2_2+x^2_3+x^2_4+7(x^2_5+x^2_6+x^2_7+x^2_8)$. Finally we express the modular forms ${\Delta}_{4,7}(z)$, ${\Delta}_{4,14,1}(z)$ and ${\Delta}_{4,14,2}(z)$ (given in [10, 14]) as linear combinations of eta quotients.

Let G be a finite group containing a non-abelian Sylow 2-subgroup. We elementarily show that every G-Galois field extension L/K has a hyperbolic trace form in the presence of root of unity.

We use a kind of modified Hurwitz class numbers to express the number of representing a positive integer by some ternary quadratic forms such as the sum of three squares, and the Fourier coefficients of weight 2 modular forms of prime level with trivial character.

We show that the Diophantine equation $$aQ(x_1,x_2)+bQ(x_3,x_4)+cQ(x_5,x_6)=abc$$ has integral solutions for arbitrary positive integers a, b, c when Q(x, y) is a norm form for some imaginary quadratic fields.

A positive definite Hermitian lattice is said to be 2-universal if it represents all positive definite binary Hermitian lattices. We find some finiteness theorems which ensure 2-universality of Hermitian lattices over several imaginary quadratic number fields.

We partially characterize criteria for the n-universality of positive-definite integer-matrix quadratic forms. We then obtain the uniqueness of Oh's 8-universality criterion [11] as a corollary.

In this paper we studied the saddlepoint approximations to the distribution of quadratic forms in normal variables. We derived the approximations as a special case of Na & Kim (2005). Also applications to a statistic which concerns intraclass correlation coefficient are presented. Simulations show the accuracy and availability of the suggested approximations.

The robust stability problems for nominally linear system with nonlinear, structured perturbations arc considered with Lyapunov direct method. The Lyapunov direct method has been utilized to determine the bounds for nonlinear, time-dependent functions which can be tolerated by a stable nominal system. In most cases quadratic forms are used either as components of vector Lyapunov function or as a function itself. The resulting estimates are usually conservative. As it is known, often the conservatism of the bounds we propose to use a piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function. An example demonstrates application of the proposed method.

본 논문에서는 여러 분야에서 중요한 역할을 하는 이차형식의 정확한 밀도함수를 구하는 것 이 어려운 경우에 극소극한정리를 포함하는 문제들에 토레플리트(Toelitz) 형식의 고유값에 대한 점근 이론을 갖고서 이차형식의 점근 밀도함수를 구하였다.
