Low Complexity Channel Preprocessor for Multiple Antenna Communication Systems (다중 안테나 통신 시스템을 위한 저복잡도 채널 전처리 프로세서)

  • In this paper, the channel preprocessor with an area-efficient architecture is proposed for the MIMO symbol detector which can support four transmit and receive antennas. The proposed channel preprocessor can shrink the channel dimension to reduce the hardware complexity of the MIMO symbol detector. Also, the proposed channel preprocessor is implemented with very low complexity by using QR decomposition (QRD) and log-number system (LNS). By applying QRD and LNS to the nulling matrix calculation block, the numbers of matrix-multiplications and matrix-divisions are decreased and thus the complexity of the proposed channel preprocessor is significantly reduced. The proposed channel preprocessor was designed in a hardware description language (HDL) and synthesized to gate-level circuits using 0.13um CMOS standard cell library. With the proposed channel preprocessor, the number of logic gates for channel preprocessor is reduced by 20.2% compared with the conventional architecture.

  • This paper presents a nonlinear least squares decision feedback equalizer Bilinear systems are attractive because of the ability to approximate a large class of nonlinear systems efficiently. The nonlinearity of channel is modeled using a bilinear system. The algorithms are derived by using the QR decomposition for minimization covariance matrix of prediction error by applying Givens rotation to the bilinear model. Result of computer simulation experiments that compare the performance of the bilinear DFE to two other DFE's in eliminating the intersymbol interference caused by a nonlinear channel are presented In the paper.

  • In a log likelihood ratio(LLR) calculation of the detected symbol, multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system applying an optimal or suboptimal algorithm such as a maximum likelihood(ML) detection, sphere decoding(SD), and QR decomposition with M-algorithm Maximum Likelihood Detection(QRM-MLD) suffers from exponential complexity growth with number of spatial streams and modulation order. In this paper, we propose a LLR calculation method with very low complexity in the QRM-MLD based symbol detector for a high order modulation based $N_T{\times}N_R$ MIMO system. It is able to approach bit error rate(BER) performance of full maximum likelihood detector to within 1 dB. We also analyze the BER performance through computer simulation to verify the validity of the proposed method.

A Computationally Efficient Signal Detection Method for Spatially Multiplexed MIMO Systems (공간다중화 MIMO 시스템을 위한 효율적 계산량의 신호검출 기법)

  • In spatially multiplexed MIMO systems that enable high data rate transmission over wireless communication channels, the spatial demultiplexing at the receiver is a challenging task, and various demultiplexing methods have been developed recently by many researchers. Among the previous methods, maximum likelihood detection with QR decomposition and M-algorithm (QRM-MM)), and sphere decoding (SD) schemes have been reported to achieve a (near) maximum likelihood (ML) performance. In this paper, we propose a novel signal detection method that achieves a near ML performance in a computationally efficient manner. The proposed method is demonstrated via a set of computer simulations that the proposed method achieves a near ML performance while requiring a complexity that is comparable to that of the conventional MMSE-OSIC. We also show that the log likelihood ratio (LLR) values for all bits are obtained without additional calculation but as byproduct in the proposed detection method, while in the previous QRM-MLD, SD, additional computation is necessary after the hard decision for LLR calculation.

  • This this paper, we propose vertical Bell laboratories layered space time (V-BLAST) system based on variable rate Low-Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes to improve performance of receiver when QR decomposition interference suppression combined with interference cancellation is used over independent Rayleigh fading channel. The different rate LDPC codes can be made by puncturing some rows of a given parity check matrix. This allows to implement a single encoder and decoder for different rate LDPC codes. The performance can be improved by assigning stronger LDPC codes in lower layer than upper layer because the poor SNR of first detected data streams makes error propagation. Keeping the same overall code rates, the V-BLAST system with different rate LDPC codes has the better performance (in terms of Bit Error Rate) than with constant rate LDPC code in fast fading channel.

  • Krylov-Schur iteration method has been applied to the 2-Dim. waveguides of the varied geometrical structure. The eigen-equations for them have been constructed from FEM based on the tangential edge vectors of triangular elements. The eigen-values and their modes have been determined from the diagonal components of the Schur matrices and its transforming matrices. The eigen-pairs as the results have been revealed visually in the schematic representations.

  • This paper examines the parameter observability of a calibration system that consrains a mobile platform to a planar table to take the calibration data. To improve the parameter observability, we find the optimal configurations providing the calibration with maximum contribution. The QR-decomposition is used to compute the optimal configurations that maximize the linear independence of rows of an observation matrix. The calibration system is applied to the parallel type manipulator constructed for a machining center. The calibration results show that all the necessary kinematic parameters assigned in a Stewart-Gough platform are identifiable and convergent to desirable accuracy.

Low-Complexity Maximum-Likelihood Decoder for VBLAST-STBC Scheme Using Non-square OSTBC Code Rate 3/4

  • This work presents a low complexity maximum-likelihood decoder for signal detection in VBLAST-STBC system, which employs non-square O-STBC code rate 3/4. Stacking received symbols from different symbol duration and applying QR decomposition result in the special format of upper triangular matrix R so that the proposed decoder is able to provide not only ML-like BER performance but also very low computational load. The low computational load and ML-like BER performance properties of the proposed decoder are verified by computer simulations.

  • This paper presents the calibration for the parallel typed tilting table. The calibration system needs only simple sensing device which is a digital indicator to measure the orientation of a table. The calibration algorithm is developed by a measurement operator. It eliminates the concern about the poor parameter observability due to a large number of parameters of parallel-mechanism. This paper uses the QR-decomposition to find the optimal calibration configurations maximizing the linear independence of rows of a observation matrix. The number of identifiable parameters is examined by the rank of the observation matrix, which represents the parameter observability. The method is applied to a Parallel-typed Tilting Table and all the necessary kinematic parameters are identifiable.

  • 가상광고는 실제 영상에 존재하지 않는 정보를 추가함으로써 영상의 정보 제시 능력을 향상시키는 것으로 폭넓고 다양한 정보가 영상에 더해질 수 있다. 이러한 가상광고를 보다 현실감 있게 구현하기 위해서는 여러 가지 환경이 갖추어져야 하는데, 그 중 하나가 사물에 대한 조명 효과이다. 본 논문에서는 가상광고 영상으로부터 조명을 고려한 그래픽 정보를 삽입함으로서 좀 더 현실감 있는 증강현실을 구현하고자 한다. 제안된 방법은 카메라로 촬영한 영상으로부터 3차원적인 위치정보를 알고 있는 고정된 4개 이상의 특징점 추출 및 추적을 통하여 카메라의 프로젝션(Projection) 행렬을 복원하고, 이를 이용하여 범용적인 크로마키(Chroma-Key) 기법으로 영상합성을 하였다. 행렬복원 과정에서는 카메라의 프로젝션 행렬로부터 QR-Decomposition 을 통해 카메라의 회전과 이동 성분을 분리해 내어 가상 물체가 카메라에 의해 움직임 보정을 받을 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 인의의 위치에 조명을 주었을 때 생기는 변화를 그래픽에 반영하여 실사와 합성하는 실시간 시스템을 구축하고 실험으로 확인하였다.
