This study was designed to find characteristics and patterns in Obese student's attitudes toward the school obesity program. Q-methodology was used as a research tool and the data were collected from October 1st, 1997 to April 30th, 1998. The results are as follows: 1. Q-sampling has been derived from the literature, and in-depth interviews of different groups (primarily students and normal weight students. Its credibility and validity were also tested by nursing and Q-methodology professors as well as school nurses. 34 statements were selected from a total of 197 statements collected. 2. In a P-sampling, 38 samples were selected. 3. Based on a 9 point scale, the selected respondents rated their operant definition of Obese student's attitudes toward school obesity programs. 4. The results of the above procedures were analyzed by a PCQ program. The results revealed that there are four attitudes toward the school obesity program. These four are the following: 1) First, demand for little exposure, which consisted of thirteen subjects. 2) Second, demand for other's support, which consisted of six subjects. 3) Third, demand for self-control, which consisted of four subjects. 4) Forth, demand for other's stimulation and motivation, which consisted of five subjects. In conclusion, this study discovers obese students have attitudes toward the school obesity program. By identifying the nature of each of the these types this study can be useful to manage and develop a school obesity program.

Method: Twenty three Q-statements were selected through in-depth interviews of hospice patients. Data were collected from 20 hospice patients by sorting 23 Q-statements into 9 points standard and then analyzed using PC QUANL program. Result: Type 1 was named 'the need for pain control type' and patients of this type had the greatest need of physical care to be free of pain and be comfortable. Type 2 was named 'the need for love and intimacy type' and patients of this type would like to share love and intimacy with their family members. Type 3 was named 'the needs for reliance on an Absolute Being type' and patients of this type would like to receive forgiveness from their God and prayers. Type 4 was named 'the need for accomplishment and service type' and patients of this type would like to complete their on going work and to give service to others. The purpose of the study is to understand the types and the features of the health behavior of middle-aged women in the Middle East using Q-methodology. A survey was carried out during the period from the 1st of October to the 30th of December, 2006. Data for thirty five (35) women out of forty-nine (49) were analyzed through Principal Component Analysis and WRAP (Weighted Rotational Analytical Procedure). Analysis results showed that the group was divided into four types: Type I is health management; Type II is social activity; Type III is exercise orientation; and Type IV is religious dependency. Types I, II, and III were in a positive correlation with one another, and Type IV was not correlated with the other types. Subjective perception on the health behavior of middle-aged women in the Middle East (Jordan) was investigated and compared with middle-aged Korean women. The results of this study may provide more effective ways to improve the condition of health management and to promote the quality of life.
Purpose: This study is to identify the types of role awareness of home health care specialists working at medical institutions, to understand their role awareness correctly by grasping the quality of each type, and to provide useful help in the education of home health care specialists. Method: Q-methodology is used to objectify role awareness of medical institution specialists who may recognize situations differently according to their individual experience and comprehension based on the view of behavior. Q-classification was carried out on 30 home health care specialists working at medical institutions using 30 selected questions. Collected data were examined through factor analysis using QUANL PC program. Results: Three different types of role awareness of home health care specialists working at medical institutions were identified. Type I is 'educational-function-centered', Type II 'patient-centered' and Type III 'professional-service-centered'. Conclusion: Regardless of these types, home health care specialists commonly had a high pride as a specialist and a sense of mission regarding themselves as important persons responsible for patients' health.
The purpose of this study is to classify the characteristic and conduct a typological analysis of college students' attitudes toward remarriage by the elderly, employing Q-methodology. The results are as follows: College students strongly supported the opinion that remarriage relieves the elderly of loneliness, and that familial support is crucial for the remarriage to happen. They also rejected of the idea that the elderly would feel ashamed to remarry. Students' attitudes towards the elderly's remarriage fell into three classifications: the progressively accepting type, the realistically accepting type, and the conservatively accepting type. Type 1, "progressively accepting type" enthusiastically accepts and supports the elderly's remarriage as a progressive and emotive relationship. The "realistically accepting type" holds the opinion that remarriage in later life is based on overcoming loneliness or satisfying attachment need rather than love. This typology believes that the elderly would not be equal as spouses, and would not be overly distressed by public perception. The type 3, "conservatively accepting type" believes that remarriage would be likely to strain the elderly's relationship with other family members, that it will not be the beginning of a new independent life, but are generally accepting of the idea of remarriage in later life.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore subjective perceptions of good nurses' images perceived by nursing students using Q-methodology and to identify characteristics by types and reflect them in nursing education. Methods: Between December 21 and November 30, 2017, using Q-methodology, 31 nursing students from two universities sorted and rated 34 Q-statements on a nine-point scale according to the degree of their agreement. A data analysis was conducted using the PC-QUANL program. Results: The images of good nurses, as perceived by nursing college students, were extracted into three types, each of which had unique characteristics; the cumulative variance was 55%. Three types were identified as "Task-oriented health professional type," "Emotional companion type," and "Flexible mediator type" respectively. Conclusion: This study investigated the significant differences of subjectivity in images of good nurses perceived by nursing college students. The results of this study can be applied to the development and application of a nursing education curriculum that helps nursing college students form positive nursing images and grow into competent nurses.
