The purpose of this study was to determine whether percutaneous interferential current stimulation on thoracic sympathetic ganglia with amplitude modulated frequency (AMF) $90\~100$ bps and subthreshold of muscle contraction for 10 minutes on peripheral blood flow velocity in healthy subjects. Thirty-seven healthy volunteers were assigned randomly into an experimental group (n=25) and a control group (n=12). the experimental group received interferential current stimulation with subthreshold of the muscle contraction of current at AMF $90\~100$ bps on $1st\~5th$ thoracic sympathetic ganglial region for 10 minutes. The control group received same handling and electode placement, but no current was applied. Using a Doppler blood flow meter, the radial arterial blood flow velocities and the pulse raters were determined for two-way analysis of variance for repeated measures on time and group. There were no significant difference between the two groups with respect to the changes in arterial blood flow velocity and pulse rate over the four measurement times. Interferential current stimulation did not change in mean blood flow velocity and pulse rate. We conclude that interferential current stimulation on the thoracic sympathetic ganglia, as used in this study, did not dilate peripheral artery. This results suggests that interferential current stimulation dose not alter the activtiy of sympathetic nerve.
Purpose: This study was intended to determine how the choice of music affects the physiological and psychological status of women college student during music therapy. Methods: A nonequivalent experimental group pretest-posttest design was used. 19 out of 54 subjects were assigned to listen to their favorite music and 17 to their unfavorite music for 20 minutes using MP3 players and headphones. Anxiety, blood pressure, pulse and blood glucose levels of the subjects were measured before treatment. The data was analyzed by Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon signed rank test using the SPSS/WIN 10.0 program. Results: The result showed that systolic blood pressure, blood glucose and anxiety level decreased significantly in the favorite music group. however systolic blood pressure, pulse rate and anxiety level increased significantly in the unfavorite music group. The favorite music group showed a significantly higher level of satisfaction than the unfavorite music group. Conclusion: Choice of music affects the physiological and psychological status of an individual. Favorite music listening would enhance the effect of music therapy. Therefore, selection of music must be considered in light of the subject's preference and characteristics.
Background/Aims: This study tested the hypothesis that prolonged low-dose cyclophosphamide (CTX) treatment after pulse therapy attenuate paraquat (PQ)-induced lung injury in rats. Methods: PQ (25 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally to induce PQ-intoxicated rat model. The rats were randomly divided into four groups: control group (1 mL/day saline solution for 14 days), PQ group (1 mL/day saline solution for 14 days after PQ exposure), pulse group (15 mg/kg/day CTX in 1 mL of saline solution for 2 days and subsequent 1 mL/day saline solution for 12 days), and prolonged low-dose group (15 mg/kg/day CTX in 1 mL of saline solution for 2 days and subsequent 1.5 mg/kg/day CTX in 1 mL of saline solution for 12 days). A 14-day follow-up was conducted to determine the survival rat, and lung hydroxyproline (HYP), wet-to-dry weight ratios (W/Dc) and histopathological changes were evaluated. Results: Results showed similar survival rate (55% vs. 50%, p > 0.05) between prolonged low-dose and pulse groups. Lung W/Dc ($4.94{\pm}0.38$ vs. $5.47{\pm}0.28$, p < 0.01), HYP ($3.34{\pm}0.29{\mu}g/mg$ vs. $3.65{\pm}0.19{\mu}g/mg$, p < 0.001), and fibrosis score ($2.69{\pm}0.84$ vs. $3.13{\pm}0.63$, p < 0.05) were lower in prolonged low-dose group than those in the pulse group. Conclusions: These findings suggested prolonged low-dose CTX treatment after pulse therapy could attenuate PQ-induced lung injury in rats.
US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved as a innovative cure for cancer, 1996. The effect is death of cancer cells through necrosis, apoptosis. Mainly the Continuous Wave mode (CW) use for PDT Laser. It sting, the question including itch, and etc. Reportedly, the increase of temperature with the perforated edema, ulcer, necrosis. The Thermal relaxation time and Oxygen recovery time is necessary. To give a normal oxygen recovery time of the cell, used Pulse mode. Progress, it was Burst Pulse mode when easing the thermal wake, the simplicity was secured, the PDT effect is good. Excepted in control group CW, Pulse, Burst pulse mode were incubated with various concentrations of 5-aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride (ALA-5). The tumor size reduction CW mode (44%), Pulse mode (48%), Burst pulse mode (53%) at 4 week after PDT with 0.3, 0.3, 0.3 mg/ml of ALA-5. After 4 hours, investigation of 100, 100, $100J/cm^2$ laser irradiation. The pulse mode was superior in expirimental data analysis. And it was the Burst pulse mode edge head of a family effect.
A laser system for therapy of cancer is proposed in this paper. In order to accuracy and statistical output control we used the constant current control method and designed the power source to protect the resonator from the over -current, rush-current and electrical fault. The most important things are the radiation type for cancer therapy in laser system, we developed the radiation type of cw, pulse, and burst pulse. The experimental result show that laser beam power increase linearly from 100mW to 300mW for input current increasing and the exposure time.
The diode characteristics for therapy radiation sensor have been studied by irradiating therapy radiation from the MM22 microtron accelerator. Signal processing has been performed in the pulse mode which can process the signal fast. We have designed integrator, peak detector and synchronization circuit to detect diode signal in the pulse mode for implementation of portal image. We also read the diode signal by A/D board and displayed the peak value with LabView program. Because the quality of portal image obtained by film in the case of therapy radiation is much worse than that of diagnostic film, Digital radiography system by rectifier diode detector was suggested for portal Image.
Purpose: This study was to determine the effects of laughter therapy on stress response and pain of military patients with low back pain. Method: The subjects in the experimental group received 3-sessions of laughter therapy on 3 consecutive days. The primary outcome measures were state anxiety, depression, blood pressure, pulse rate and pain. Result: After 3 sessions of laughter therapy, the scores of state anxiety(p=.046), depression(p=.028) and pulse rate(p=.003) were significantly lower and diastolic blood pressure(p=.038) was significantly higher in the experimental group than those in the control group. The level of pain(p=.711) was not different significantly between two groups. Conclusion: Laughter therapy could be an effective strategic intervention for military patients with low back pain to reduce the level of anxiety and depression. Further studies are needed to determine long-term effects of laughter therapy and its effects on cardiovascular system and pain.
It is as result that study to apply mini magnet nerve curer in peripheral nervous system disease treatment. Design and embodied action power and Control Unit in cylinder form of magnet roof object firstly. Yielded service area about special quality of probe of roof object cylinder style and treatment area dimension and distance of treatment pulse secondly. Embody pulse forming course energy value by Probe's form by third, could embody treatment pulse by disease. Specially, through a special quality experiment, saved Damping pulse torn and treatment pulse form etc. variously. Lately, embodied this to aid a little in disease treatment that follow that there is no invasion that there is no stimulation by medicine development. Go amplitude treatment pulse (traditional magneto-therapy of greatly great that strong) does curative effect greatest at short time and becomes thought that demand is magnified greatly at the future in this research.
The acupuncture procedures in Hwangjenaekyung (黃帝內經) was different to modern ones in many aspects. Especially, the role of pulse diagnosis in acupuncture was totally different and the pulse diagnosis was essential part in acupuncture therapy in Hwangjenaekyung era. We found four noteworthy features on the pulse diagnosis before and after acupuncture in Hwangjenaekyung : (1) Pulse diagnosis was a mandatory process in acupuncture (2) Doctors who used pulse diagnosis in 12 meridians (十二經脈遍診脈法), pulse diagnosis in 9 points of 3 body parts (三部九候脈法), and comparative pulse diagnosis between radial artery and carotid artery (人迎寸口對比脈法) followed the former rule ((1)). (3) The major pulse features to detect before and after acupuncture were conversion between the vacuous pulse (虛脈) and the replete pulse (實脈), and conversion between slippery pulse (滑脈) and rough pulse (澁脈). (4) Deukki (得氣, Deqi) was synonym of Kiji (氣至), and it referred to the changes of arterial pulse, not the sensation followed by acupuncture manipulation.
Purpose : This study aims to examine the influences of galvanic vestibular stimulation on autonomic reaction of normal adults. Methods : Participants in this research totaled 28 (14 men and 14 women). Galvanic vestibular stimulation was conducted with a binaural electrode configuration for 60 sec. Galvanic vestibular stimulation measurements were conducted with the subjects in a prone position. Measured items included skin conductance, blood flow, pulse rate, and respiratory rate. Measurements were repeated for a total of five times, before application, during application, after application, 5 minutes after application and 10 minutes after application. Results : Skin conductance reaction showed statistically significant differences in changes depending on time after galvanic vestibular stimulation and there were statistically differences in changes of blood flow, pulse rate and respiratory rate after galvanic vestibular stimulation. Conclusion : Blood flow, pulse rate and respiratory rate of autonomic reactions were not influenced by galvanic vestibular stimulation, but skin conductance reaction was influenced by it and it was found that it was reduced during and after stimulation rather than before stimulation. Consequently, it was considered that galvanic vestibular stimulation affected the autonomic reaction.
