  • Platinum thin films were deposited on Si-wafer by DC magnetron sputtering for RTD (Resistance Thermometer Devices). We investigated the physical and electrical characteristics of these films under various conditions, the input power, working vacuum, temperature of substrate and also after annealing these films. The deposition rate was increased with increasing the input power but decreased with increasing Ar gas pressure. The resistivity were decreased wish increasing the temperature of substrate and the annealing time at 1000$^{\circ}C$. At substrate temperature 300$^{\circ}C$, input power 7(w/$\textrm{cm}^2$), working vacuum 5mtorr and annealing conditions 1000$^{\circ}C$, 240 min we obtained 10.65${\mu}$$.$cm, resistivity of Pt thin film closed to the bulk value.

  • The Pb(Zr,Ti)O$_3$ thin films were fabricated with Pb(La,Ti)O$_3$ buffers in-situ onto Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition method. We have observed the increase of the remanent polarization using PLT buffers. The remanent polarization value of 33.4 $\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and the coercive field value of 66.4 kV/cm were obtained when the PLT tufter was deposited for 15 seconds. Enhancement of the polarization is resulted from the enhanced orientation of PZT thin film because of the PLT buffet layer.

  • We have fabricated (0001) oriented hexagonal $HoMnO_3$ thin films with thickness of 300 nm using Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) technique on $Pt(111)/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrates. The XRD $\theta-2\theta$ pattern shows only (0002), (0004), and (0008) reflection of a hexagonal phase, and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of (0004) peak is under $1.6^{\circ}$. The chemical state of Mn from XPS spectra of the films reveals the presence of $Mn^{3+}$ only. The temperature dependence of dielectric constant shows a weak anomaly at magnetic $N\acute{e}el$ temperature $(T_N)$, which is about 70 K.

  • Annealing dependencies of the fatigue properties of SrBi$_2$Ta$_2$$O_{9}$ thin films were observed as function of substrate temperature(400-50$0^{\circ}C$) by the rf magnetron sputtering method. With increasing annealing temperature from $600^{\circ}C$ to 85$0^{\circ}C$, flourite phase was crystalized to $650^{\circ}C$ and Bi-layered perovskite phase was crystalized above $700^{\circ}C$. The fatigue characteristics of SBT thin films deposited on Pt/TiO$_2$/SiO$_2$/Si substrate did not change up to 101o switching cycles.s.

  • We have fabricated $Bi_{3.25}$$La_{0.75}$ti$_3$O$_{12}$ (BLT) thin(200nm) films on the Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrates using a MOD(Metalorganic decomposition) method with annealing temperature from 55$0^{\circ}C$ to 75$0^{\circ}C$. The structural properties of the films examined by x-ray diffraction. The layered-perovskite phase obtained above $600^{\circ}C$. Scanning electron micrographs showed uniform surface composed of rodlike grains. The grain size increased with increasing annealing temperature. The BLT thin films showed little polarization fatigue test up to 3.5x10$^{9}$ bipolar cycling at a 5V and 100kHz.kHz.

At substrate temperature $300^{\circ}C$, input power 7(w/$cm^2$), working vacuum 5mtorr and annealing conditions $1000^{\circ}C$, 240min we obtained $10.65{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, Resistivity of Pt thin film and $3000{\sim}3900ppm/^{\circ}C$, TCR(temperature coefficient of resistance) closed to the bulk value.

  • Ferroelectric thin film capacitors with high dielectric constant are important for the application of memory devices. In this work, thin films of PLT(28)(Pb$\sub$0.72/La$\sub$0.28/Ti$\sub$0.93/O$_3$) were fabricated on Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrates in-situ annealing and ex-situ annealing have been compared depending on the annealing time. We have systematically investigated the variation of grain sizes depending on the condition of post-annealing and the variation of deposition rate. C-V measurement, ferroelectric properties, leakage current and SEM were performed to investigate the electrical properties and the microstructural properties of Pb(La,Ti)O$_3$.

  • Laser ablation기술에 의해 Pt와 $YBa_Cu_3O_{7-x}$(YBCO)전극위에 epitaxially성장된 BST박막의 조성과 전기적 특성이 연구되었다. RBS분석으로부터 Pt전극 위에 증착된 BST박막의 결정성이 YBCO전극 위에 증착된 것보다도 더 우수하였다. $600^{\circ}C$에서 Pt 전극위에 증착된 BST박막은 100kHz의 주파수에서 유전상수가 320, 유전손실이 0.023이었다. Pt전극위에 증착된 BST박막의 누설전류 밀도가 TBCO전극위에 증착된 것 보다도 더 작았다. 0.15MV/cm의 전기장 하에서 누설전류밀도는 약 0.8 $\mu \; A/ \textrm{cm}^2$이었다.

  • Due to their excellent catalytic activity with respect to methanol oxidation on platinum at low temperature, platinum nanosized catalysts have been a topic of great interest for use in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). Since pure platinum is readily poisoned by CO, a by-product of methanol electrooxidation, and is extremely expensive, a number of efforts to design and characterize Pt-based alloy nanosized catalysts or Pt nanophase-support composites have been attempted in order to reduce or relieve the CO poisoning effect. In this review paper, we summarize these efforts based upon our recent research results. The Pt-based nanocatalysts were designed by chemical synthesis and thin-film technology, and were characterized by a variety of analyses. According to bifunctional mechanism, it was concluded that good alloy formation with $2^{nd}$ metal (e.g., Ru) as well as the metallic state and optimum portion of Ru element in the anode catalyst contribute to an enhanced catalytic activity for methanol electrooxidation. In addition, we found that the modified electronic properties of platinum in Pt alloy electrodes as well as the surface and bulk structure of Pt alloys with a proper composition could be attributed to a higher catalytic activity for methanol electooxdation. Proton conducting contribution of nanosized electrocatalysts should also be considered to be excellent in methanol electrooxidation (Spillover effect). Finally, we confirmed the ensemble effect, which combined all above effects, in Pt-based nanocatalsyts especially, such as PtRuRhNi and $PtRuWO_{3}$, contribute to an enhanced catalytic activity.

CrPt3(001) 박막의 자성: 제일원리계산 (First Principles Calculations on Magnetism of CrPt3(001) Thin Films)

  • $CrPt_3$ 합금은 큰 Kerr 효과를 보여 주는 강한 자기결정 이방성을 가지고 있고 흥미롭게도 훈트 제3법칙을 따르지 않는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 $CrPt_3$ 합금 박막의 두께의 따른 자성과 자기결정 이방성의 변화를 제일원리계산 방법을 이용하여 연구하였다. 기준 자료로 활용하기 위해 덩치 $CrPt_3$의 다양한 자성 상태, 즉 강자성(FM), A-, C-, G-type 반강자성(A-, C-, G-AF)에 대한 계산을 우선 수행하였는데 덩치 $CrPt_3$은 FM 상태가 안정하였고 이는 실험과 일치하였다. A-, C-, G-AF 상태가 FM 상태일 때 보다 총에너지가 각각 0.517, 0.591, 0.183 eV 만큼 높았고 Cr의 자기모멘트는 FM, A-, C-, G-AF 일 때 각각 2.782, 2.805, 2.794, $2.869_{{\mu}_B}$으로 확인되었다. $CrPt_3$(001) 박막의 표면은 CrPt 표면과 Pt 표면으로 두 종류의 원소 구성을 가질 수 있다. 각각의 표면에 대해 3층에서 9층까지 두께를 변화시켜 가면서 계산을 수행하였다. CrPt 표면의 3층 박막은 덩치와는 다르게 C-AF 상태가 FM 상태에 비해 8 meV 안정하였고 그 보다 두꺼운 5층, 7층, 9층 박막은 덩치처럼 FM 상태가 안정하였다. Pt 표면의 3층 박막은 C-AF 상태가 FM 상태에 비해 37 meV, 5층 박막은 G-AF이 FM 상태에 비해 54 meV 만큼 안정하였고 그 보다 두꺼운 7, 9층 박막은 덩치와 같이 FM 상태가 더 안정하였다.
