In order to protect the environment from the refrigerant pollution, the $CO_2$ may be regarded as one of the most attractive alternative refrigerants for an automotive air-conditioning system. Control methods for a $CO_2$ system should be different because of $CO_2$'s unique properties as a refrigerant. Especially, the high-side pressure of a $CO_2$ system should be controlled for the effective operation of the system. High-side pressure algorithms, which were composed of the pressure setpoint algorithm and the pressure setpoint reset algorithm, were developed. Pressure setpoint algorithms, by using a neural network and by using a least square method, were developed and compared. Pressure setpoint reset algorithms, by using a fuzzy logic and by using a proportional logic, were also developed and compared. Simulation results showed that a least square method was more useful than a neural network for the pressure setpoint algorithm. And a proportional logic was more practical than a fuzzy logic for the pressure setpoint reset algorithm.

Although the fuzzy logic controller is superior to the proportional integral derivative (PID) controller in motor control, the gain tuning of the fuzzy logic controller is more complicated than that of the PID controller. Using mathematical analysis of the proportional derivative (PD) and fuzzy logic controller, this study proposed a design method of a fuzzy logic controller that has the same characteristics as the PD controller in the beginning. Then a design method of a fuzzy logic controller was proposed that has superior performance to the PD controller. This fuzzy logic controller was designed by changing the envelope of the input of the of the fuzzy logic controller to nonlinear, because the fuzzy logic controller has more degree of freedom to select the control gain than the PD controller. By designing the fuzzy logic controller using the proposed method, it simplified the design of fuzzy logic controller, and it simplified the comparison of these two controllers.

Augmented proportional navigation requires the information of a target acceleration, which must be estimated by a filtering logic. The process necessary accompanies a time lag, which degrades the guidance performance. A trade-off study between augmented and conventional proportional navigation is conducted with the time lag taken into consideration. The result shows that the conventional proportional navigation has better performance against a target maneuver in the missile-target coplane, while the augmented has better performance against out-of-coplane maneuver.
In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is designed for the pointing loop of the spin-stabilized platform. For the fuzzy inference, a fuzzy accelerator board using the Togai InfraLogic software and digital fuzzy processor(DFP110FC) is designed, and a validation of an algorithm for fuzzy logic control is also presented. The pointing loop of the spin-stabilized platform using FLC has better performance of step responses than a proportional controller in case of same loop hain through the software simulation and the experiment of implemented hardware.
This paper proposes a fuzzy logic controlled new topology of high voltage gain zero voltage switching (ZVS) asymmetrical PWM full-bridge DC-DC boost converter for constant load and high power applications. The APWM full-bridge stage provides high voltage gain and soft-switching characteristics increase the efficiency and reduce the switching losses. Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) improves the performance and dynamic characteristics of the proposed converter. A comparison with a classical proportional-integral (PI) controller demonstrates the high performances of the proposed technique in terms of effective output voltage regulation under different operating conditions. Simulation is done by integrating two different simulation platforms $PSIM^{(R)}$ and $Matlab^{(R)}/Simulink^{(R)}$ by using SimCoupler tool of $PSIM^{(R)}$. Experimental results using 120W load have been provided to validate the results.

This paper focuses on a new optimization technique of a fuzzy logic based proportional integral (FLPI) load frequency controller by the multiple tabu search (MTS) algorithm. Conventionally, the membership functions and control rules of fuzzy logic control are obtained by trial and error method or experiences of designers. To overcome this problem, the MTS algorithm is proposed to simultaneously tune proportional integral gains, the membership functions and control rules of a FLPI load frequency controller in order to minimize the frequency deviations of the interconnected power system against load disturbances. The MTS algorithm introduces additional techniques for improvement of the search process such as initialization, adaptive search, multiple searches, crossover and restart process. Simulation results explicitly show that the performance of the proposed FLPI controller is superior to conventional PI and FLPI controllers in terms of overshoot and settling time. Furthermore, the robustness of the proposed FLPI controller under variation of system parameters and load change are higher than that of conventional PI and FLPI controllers.

Various inverted pendulum systems have been frequently used as a model for the performance test of the proposed control system. We first identify a rotary-type inverted pendulum system by the Euler-Lagrange method and then design a FLC (Fuzzy Logic Controller) fur the plant. FLC`s are one of useful control schemes fur plants having difficulties in deriving mathematical models or having performance limitations with conventional linear control schemes. Many FLC`s imitate the concept of conventional PD (Proportional-Derivative) or PI (Proportional-Integral) controller. That is, the error e and the change-of-error are used as antecedent variables and the control input u the change of control input Au is used as its consequent variable for FLC`s. In this paper we design a simple-structured FLC for the rotary inverted pendulum system. We also perform some computer simulations to examine the tracking performance of the closed-loop system.

In this paper presents approaches to the design of a hybrid fuzzy logic proportional plus conventional integral- derivative(fuzzy P+ID) controller in an incremental form. This controller is constructed by using an incremental fuzzy logic controller in place of the proportional term in a conventional PID controller. The PID type controller has been widely used in industrial application due to its simply control structure, easy of design, and inexpensive cost. However, control performance of the PID type controller suffers greatly from high uncertainty and nonlinearity of the system, large disturbances and so on. This paper presents a hybrid fuzzy logic proportional plus conventional integral derivative controller In comparison with a conventional PID controller, only one additional parameter has to be adjusted to tune the Fuzzy P+ID controller. In this case, the stability of a system remains unchanged after the PID controller is replaced by the Fuzzy P+ID controller without modifying the original controller parameters. Finally, the proposed hybrid Fuzzy P+ID controller is applied to BLDC motor drive. Simulation results demonstrated that the control performance of the proposed controller is better than that of the conventional controller.

Proportional reasoning is one of the most widely used concepts in everyday life. It could be the most important basic concept in science and mathematics. In research where the subjects were animals, it has been found that learning effect rapidly decreased with any stimulation given after a optimalperiod. Therefore, it is necessary to research about optimal periods in order to instruct about proportional reasoning. The purpose of this study was to investigate the optimal periods in proportional reasoning. The three programs for proportional reasoning instruction were developed by researchers. The titles of the programs were 'Block', 'Balance scale' and 'Water glass'. The subjects were 131 3$^{rd}$ to 6$^{th}$ grade students who were not expected to have any proportional reasoning skills yet. In order to find out the optimal periods in proportional reasoning, the programs were applied to these students. After 4-5 weeks of treatment, the researchers investigated whether their proportional reasoning skills were formed or not through the instrument. The results indicated that it would be most effective to teach proportional reasoning to 6$^{th}$ grade students. Teaching of proportional reasoning is essential not only for mathematics but also for science. The findings could be used to investigate the optimal periods of controlling variables, probability, combinational and correlational logic.
