  • A dynamic analysis of a tilting actuator for a projection TV is presented in this study. Severe vibration of a tilting actuator deteriorates the video quality of a projection TV. For this reason, a dynamic analysis of the tilting actuator system is essential to improve the video quality. The dynamic behaviors of the mirror reactive-type tilting actuator are examined in order to obtain design requirements of the lens transmissive-type tilting actuator. Based on these design requirements, a basic design is performed for the lens transmissive-type tilting actuator. With the basic design, the dynamic characteristics of the lens transmissive-type actuator are investigated by the finite element analysis After the prototype of the actuator is manufactured, the dynamic behaviors of the prototype are examined by experiments. As a result of this study, a new design for the hinge configuration of the actuator is suggested for better performance.

  • If there are metals located in the X-ray scanned object, a point outside the metals has its range of projection angle at which projections passing through the point are disturbed by the metals. Roughly speaking, this implies that attenuation information at the point is missing in the blocked projection range. So conventional projection completion MAR algorithms to use the undisturbed projection data on the boundary of the metaltrace is less efficient in reconstructing the attenuation coefficient in detailed parts, in particular, near the metal region. In order to overcome this problem, we propose the algebraic correction technique (ACT) to utilize a pre-reconstructed interim image of the attenuation coefficient outside the metal region which is obtained by solving a linear system designed to reduce computational costs. The reconstructed interim image of the attenuation coefficient is used as prior information for MAR. Numerical simulations support that the proposed correction technique shows better performance than conventional inpainting techniques such as the total variation and the harmonic inpainting.

  • In the present scenario, enormous amounts of data are produced every second. These data also contain private information from sources including media platforms, the banking sector, finance, healthcare, and criminal histories. Data mining is a method for looking through and analyzing massive volumes of data to find usable information. Preserving personal data during data mining has become difficult, thus privacy-preserving data mining (PPDM) is used to do so. Data perturbation is one of the several tactics used by the PPDM data privacy protection mechanism. In Perturbation, datasets are perturbed in order to preserve personal information. Both data accuracy and data privacy are addressed by it. This paper will explore and compare several perturbation strategies that may be used to protect data privacy. For this experiment, two perturbation techniques based on random projection and principal component analysis were used. These techniques include Improved Random Projection Perturbation (IRPP) and Enhanced Principal Component Analysis based Technique (EPCAT). The Naive Bayes classification algorithm is used for data mining approaches. These methods are employed to assess the precision, run time, and accuracy of the experimental results. The best perturbation method in the Nave-Bayes classification is determined to be a random projection-based technique (IRPP) for both the cardiovascular and hypothyroid datasets.

  • After an emergency shutdown of a lead-bismuth fast reactor, thermal stratification occurs in the upper Plenum, which negatively impacts the integrity of the reactor structure and the residual heat removal capacity of natural circulation flow. The research on thermal stratification of reactors has mainly been conducted using an experimental method, a system program, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). However, the equipment required for the experimental method is expensive, accuracy of the system program is unpredictable, and resources and time required for the CFD approach are extensive. To overcome the defects of thermal stratification analysis, a high-precision full-order thermal stratification model based on CFD technology is prepared in this study. Furthermore, a reduced-order model has been developed by combining proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) with Galerkin projection. A comparative analysis of thermal stratification with the proposed full-order model reveals that the reduced-order thermal stratification model can well simulate the temperature distribution in the upper plenum and rapidly elucidate the thermal stratification interface characteristics during the lead-bismuth fast reactor accident. Overall, this study provides an analytical tool for determining the thermal stratification mechanism and reducing thermal stratification.

  • Purpose : To develop a novel approach to calculate the sensitivity profiles of the phased array coil for use in non-uniform intensity correction. Materials and Methods : The proposed intensity correction method estimates the sensitivity profile of the coil to extract intensity variations that represent the scanned image. The sensitivity profile is estimated by fitting a non-linear curve to various angles of projections through the imaged object in order to eliminate the high-frequency image content. Filtered back projection is then used to compute the estimates of the sensitivity profile of each coil. The method was applied both to phantom and brain images from 8-channel phased-array coil and 4-channel phased-array coil, respectively. Results : Intensity-corrected images from the proposed method have more uniform intensity than those from the commonly used 'sum-of-squares' approach. By using the proposed correction method, the intensity variation was reduced to $6.1\%$ from $13.1\%$, acquired from the 'sum-of-squares'. Conclusion : The proposed method is more effective at correcting the intensity non-uniformity of the phased-array surface-coil images than the conventional 'sum-of-squares' method.

  • Recently, as the prevalence of high-performance mobile devices and the application of the multimedia content are expanded, Super Resolution (SR) technique which reconstructs low resolution images to high resolution images is becoming important. And in the mobile devices, the development of the SR algorithm considering the operation quantity or memory is required because of using the restricted resources. In this paper, we propose a new single frame fast SR technique suitable for mobile devices. In order to prevent color distortion, we change RGB color domain to HSV color domain and process the brightness information V (Value) considering the characteristics of human visual perception. First, the low resolution image is enlarged by the improved fast back projection considering the noise elimination. And at the same time, the reliable edge map is extracted by using the LoG (Laplacian of Gaussian) filtering. Finally, the high definition picture is reconstructed by using the edge information and the improved back projection result. The proposed technique removes effectually the unnatural artefact which is generated during the super resolution restoration, and the edge information which can be lost is amended and emphasized. The experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm provides better performance than conventional back projection and interpolation methods.

  • A new approach which combines implicit surface scheme and point projection method is presented in order to fill the arbitrarily shaped holes in the polygon model. In the method a trimmed surface which has an outer boundary curve is generated by using the implicit surface scheme and normal projection of point onto the base surface. The base surface is constructed by creating smooth implicit surface from the incomplete polygon model through which the surface should pass. In this paper an implicit surface is defined by a radial basis function, a continuous scalar-valued function over the domain $R^3$. The base surface is the set of all points at which this scalar function takes on the value zero and is created by placing zero-valued constraints at the vertices of the polygon model. In order to show the validity of the present study, various hole fillings are carried out for the complex polygon model of arbitrary topology.

  • This paper presents a generalized predictive control method based on a fuzzy neural network(FNN) model, which uses the on-line multi-step prediction, fur the intelligent control of chaotic nonlinear systems whose mathematical models are unknown. In our design method, the parameters of both predictor and controller are tuned by a simple gradient descent scheme, and the weight parameters of FNN are determined adaptively during the operation of the system. In order to design a generalized predictive controller effectively, this paper describes computing procedure for each of the two important parameters. Also, we introduce a projection matrix to determine the control input, which deceases the control performance function very rapidly. Finally, in order to evaluate the performance of our controller, the proposed method is applied to the Doffing and Henon systems, which are two representative continuous-time and discrete-time chaotic nonlinear systems, res reactively.

  • This study aims to improve the more confident and efficient projection method that is to estimate the Number of Household per Family scales(NHF) in projecting the Household Heath care Expenditure(HHE). For this purpose, this paper suggested three results of the research. First, because projecting the NHF does not reflect the recent socio-demographic trends in the process of projecting the National Health Expenditure(NHE),the prior projection results have serious problem in the confidence and political availability. Second, the projection results about the HHE might be underestimated relative to the real one. Third, in order to estimate the more confident and efficient estimates of the HHE, the estimated NHF reflecting the socio-demographic trend must be used to project the one. There is an alternative method that the NHF and the increasing or decreasing rate of them which are regularly surveyed and suggested by the KOSIS should be used to project the process.

  • In this paper, an efficient scheme for correcting rotated objects in medical images using the Mojette transform is presented. The Mojette transform is a kind of discrete Radon transform, where the transform domain is represented by a set of projections. The Mojette transform currently studied in the image compression area is modified for detecting the rotation angle of objects in medical images. First, in order to find accurate rotation angle, the projection value in the Mojette transform is determined by using pixels on the projection line and in addition the linear interpolation of pixels adjacent to the line. Second, at each projection angle, only one projection is implemented for reducing the amount of the calculation in the process of the Mojette transform. Finally, the projection in the Mojette transform is carried out at the predetermined ROI(Region Of Interest) at which the objects are not cropped or added by rotating the image. The simulation results show that the proposed method has good performance for correcting the rotation angle in medical images.
