The authors have investigated the acoustic field analysis using the Constrained Interpolation Profile(CIP) Method recently proposed by Yabe. This study has examined the calculation accuracy of the three-dimensional(3-D) acoustic field analysis using the type C CIP method. In this paper we show phase error of type C CIP method and the dependence on the wave-propagation direction in the type C CIP acoustic field analysis, and then demonstrate that it gives less-diffusive results than conventional analysis. Moreover, in comparison between type C-1 CIP, type C-2 CIP, type M CIP and FDTD, reports the memory requirements and calculation time of each method.

The procedure for estimating the gas (rotational) temperature of an air discharge in supersonic flows is presented in detail. Since direct measurement of the temperature in a supersonic flow is difficult, a nonintrusive measurement was performed by optical emission spectroscopy based on the emission spectra of nitrogen molecular ions. A detailed explanation, including the equations for emission line intensity, is presented in order to understand the structure of the emission spectra of nitrogen molecular ions. Using the obtained representation for emission spectrum, a synthetic spectrum of the first negative system of $N_2^+$ is obtained, and it is compared with the experimentally measured spectrum. Within a relative error of approximately 6.8% for the overall band spectra, the synthetic and measured spectra agree well. In the case of a 25-mA DC air discharge in a supersonic (Mach 3) flow, the gas temperature profile shows an approximately linear variation and a peak temperature of approximately 350 K.
A $1.31/1.55\mu\textrm{m}$ coarse WDM opncal dIrectional coupler that conslsls of two idenlical straight channel waveguides in BK7 glass has been fabricated. The separatIOn between two channel waveguides is $8\mu\textrm{m}$ and the wavegu.ide width is $4\mu\textrm{m}$ . Especlally, we assumed that the index profile is Gaussian function and complementary error function in the width direction and depth direction, respectrvely. This directional coupler operating at $1.31/1.55\mu\textrm{m}$ with crosstalk of 18dB is demonstrated and has the 16 mm long length with 12.6 mm coupling region.region.

Nowadays, it grows bigger the importance of water resource management, and so, hydrographic surveying technology in river is important because it serves basic data about river environment. And, also, the application field of GPS has been increased and expected to be more increased because of the change of the geodetic reference system to World Geodetic System. In this study, hydrographic surveying in Hwang river in Geochang is accomplished by RTK GPS and Total Station and they are compared and analyzed the both results. The section profile in river is made by Hec-Ras program and CAD. The results show it can be saved 15.3% in surveying times and the amount of surveying works can be enlarged 42.5%. And the standard error between RTK results with calibration and the results without calibration turned out as 2.1 cm. So we have a conclusion that RTK GPS is more efficient surveying method than total station in hydrographic surveying in river.

Design lifetime of a wind turbine is required to be at least 20 years. The most important step to ensure the deign is to evaluate the loads on the wind turbine as accurately as possible. In this study, extreme design load of a offshore wind turbine using Garrad Hassan (GH) Bladed and National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) FAST codes are calculated considering structural dynamic loads. These wind turbine aeroelastic analysis codes are high efficiency for the rapid numerical analysis scheme. But, these codes are mainly based on the mathematical and semi-empirical theories such as unsteady blade element momentum (UBEM) theory, generalized dynamic wake (GDW), dynamic inflow model, dynamic stall model, and tower influence model. Thus, advanced CFD-dynamic coupling method is also applied to conduct cross verification with FAST and GH Bladed codes. If the unsteady characteristics of wind condition are strong, such as extreme design wind condition, it is possible to occur the error in analysis results. The NREL 5 MW offshore wind turbine model as a benchmark case is practically considered for the comparison of calculated designed loads. Computational analyses for typical design load conditions such as normal turbulence model (NTM), normal wind profile (NWP), extreme operation gust (EOG), and extreme direction change (EDC) have been conducted and those results are quantitatively compared with each other. It is importantly shown that there are somewhat differences as maximum amount of 18% among numerical tools depending on the design load cases.

The main focus of this paper is the recognition of printed Hangul documents in terms of typeface, character size and character slope for IICS(Intelligent Image Communication System). The fixed-size blocks extracted from documents are analyzed in frequency domain for the typeface classification. The vertical pixel counts and projection profile of bounding box are used for the character size classification and the character slope classification, respectively. The MLP with variable hidden nodes and error back-propagation algorithm is used as typeface classifier, and Mahalanobis distance is used to classify the character size and slope. The experimental results demonstrated the usefulness of proposed system with the mean rate of 95.19% in typeface classification. 97.34% in character size classification, and 89.09% in character slope classification.
Various uncertainties involved in ionospheric conductivity estimation utilizing the electron density profile obtained from the Sondrestrom incoherent scatter radar are examined. First, we compare the conductivity which is based on raw electron density and the one based on corrected electron density that takes into account the effects of the difference between the electron and ion temperatures and the Debye length. The corrected electron density yields higher Pedersen and Hall conductivities than the raw electron density does. Second, the dependence of collision frequency model on the conductivity estimation is examined. Below 110 km conductivity does not depend significantly on collision frequency models. Above 110 km, however, the collision models affect the conductivity estimation. Third, the influence of the electron and ion temperatures on the conductivity estimation is examined. Electron and ion temperatures carrying an error of about 10% do not seem to affect significantly the conductivity estimation. Fourth, also examined is the effect of the choice of the altitude range of integration in calculating the height-integrated conductivity, conductance. It has been demonstrated that the lower and upper boundaries of the integration are quite sensitive to the estimation of the Hall and Pedersen conductances, respectively.

Digital video equipment is important in the 4th industrial revolution and is widely used in different fields for various purpose. Data of digital video equipment is exposed to noise due to different reasons including user environment and processing and such noise affect output and processing method. This can even cause error, resulting in decreased reliability of the equipment. In this research, it offers algorithm to effectively recover video by removing noise and impulse noise occurring during the process of channel delivery. This proposed algorithm recovers video by exploring valid pixel using directional local mask and noise determination. Then, valid pixel calculated goes through the final output calculation through comparative analysis on estimation. For comparing suggested method and algorithm, simulation is carried out. For checking the function of it, PSNR and profile are analyzed.
An absolute interferometer system with multiple point-sources is devised for tile 3-D measurement of rough surface profiles. The positions of the point sources are determined to be the system parameters that influence the measurement accuracy, so they are calibrated precisely prior to performing actual measurements. For the calibration, a CCD camera composed of a two-dimensional array of photo-detectors was used. Performing optimization of the cost function constructed with phase values measured at each pixel on the CCD camera, the position coordinates of each point source is precisely determined. Measurement results after calibration performed for the warpage inspection of chip scale packages (CSPs) demonstrate that the maximum discrepancy is 9.8 mm with a standard deviation o( 1.5 mm in comparison with the test results obtained by using a Form Taly Surf instrument.

Compton X-ray backscatter technique has been used to quantitatively assess the impact damage in quasi-isotropic laminated composites and to obtain a cross-sectional profile of impact-damaged laminated composites from the density variation of the cross section. An adaptive filter is applied to the Compton backscattering data for the reconstruction and noise reduction from many sources including quantum noise, especially when the SNR(signal-to-noise ratio) of the image is relatively low. A nonlinear reconstruction model is also proposed to overcome distortion of the Compton backscatter image due to attenuation effects, beam hardening, and irregular distributions of the fibers and the matrix in composites. Delaminations masked or distorted by the first few delaminations near the front surface are detected and characterized both in width and location, by application of an error minimization algorithm.
