Jeju Animal Shelter abandoned animals status and actual condition analysis (제주동물보호소 유기동물 현황 및 실태분석)

  • This study investigated the status and analyzed of stray dogs, stray cats admitted to the Jeju Animal Shelter during the year of 2015 to 2019, and the infection rates of specific diseases for abandoned dogs. In addition, in 2017 to 2019, the collected intake and outcome data were reviewed to analyze shelter capacity in terms of housing capacity (monthly daily average intake, required holding capacity, and adoption-driven capacity), staff capacity (staff hours required for daily care). Out of 24,557 dogs admitted to the shelter, owners of 1,808 dogs (7.4%) visited the shelter and found their lost dogs, while 3,612 dogs (14.7%) were adopted to new families. However, the number of puppies that were euthanized was the highest at 12,266 (49.9%), and 6,876 (28%) died either death from disease or natural causes because they were detained in shelters. The monthly daily average (MDA), which is one of the indicators for efficient population management of Jeju Animal Shelter, was found to be 17.4 for abandoned dogs and 1.7 for abandoned cats. Seasonal variations were observed for MDA, RHC, MDA adoptions, ADC, and RSDC, indicating that various strategies are needed for shelter management. This study was performed to analyze and interpret meaningful statistics for improving the efficiency of animal shelters in Jeju. However, inconsistent collection of animal statistics limited data compilation. Creation of a basic animal statistics matrix with reference to well-designed matrices from recognized professional animal shelters is essential.

A Study on the Introduction of a Dramaturg System for the Active Management of Local Public Theaters (지역 공공극장 운영 활성화를 위한 드라마투르그 제도 도입 연구)

  • This study was designed to insist on the need of introducing the position of dramaturgs as professionals at performance venues. A dramaturg is a professional staff member that proposes an artistic orientation in the making process of performing arts works such as play and dance. Dramaturgs are divided into production dramaturgs participating in individual works and permanent dramaturgs resident in the theater. In the present study, discussions developed around plans to make use of permanent dramaturgs at local public theaters. The study introduced the advantages of the dramaturg position at culture and arts centers serving as a public theater in the community and proposed institutional improvement measures for it. At a culture and arts center, a dramaturg will play the roles of expanding culture and arts service to local residents, increasing creative chances for local artists, contribution to the vitalization of local culture, and narrowing the cultural gap between the Seoul metropolitan region and the rest of the nation. The introduction of a permanent dramaturg system should be supported by efforts across various aspects including the revision of Culture and Arts Promotion Act and Public Performance Act, improvement of the management system of culture and arts centers, change of performance evaluation methods for performance venues, and introduction of a cultivation course for the public sector.

Measures to Strengthen Patient Safety Management Competencies for Patient Safety Coordinators: A Qualitative Research (환자안전 전담인력의 환자안전관리 역량강화 방안: 질적연구)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify strategies to enhance the competencies of patient safety coordinators in Korea. Methods: Fourteen participants from nine hospitals were interviewed between May and November 2022. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: As for the strategies to enhance patient safety management competency, 3 themes and 11 sub-themes were derived. The first theme was 'Having individual competence as a patient safety coordinator', and the sub-themes were 'Communication skills with members', 'Flexible thinking from multiple perspectives', and 'Preparing for administrative work competencies that they had not experienced as a nurse.' The second theme was 'Responding strategically to promote improvement activities', and the sub-themes for it were 'Multi-angle approach to the problem', 'A careful approach so as not to be taken as criticism in the field', 'Increasing the possibility of improvement activities through awareness', 'Activating the network between patient safety coordinators', and 'Expanding learning opportunities through patient safety case analysis.' The third theme was 'Obtaining support to facilitate patient safety activities', and the sub-themes for this were 'Improving staff awareness of patient safety', 'Providing a training course for nurse professional of patient safety', and 'Expanding the manpower allocation standard of patient safety coordinators.' Conclusion: This study explored personal competencies such as document writing and computer utilization capabilities, focused on ways to improve the field of patient safety management, and emphasized the need for organizational and political support.

Fire Response Education for Hospital Healthcare Providers: A Scoping Review (병원 의료종사자 대상 화재 대응 교육 현황: 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • Purpose: Fire response education is critical for healthcare providers working in hospitals to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. However, a comprehensive review that thoroughly examines the contents, methodologies, and outcomes of fire response education in hospitals is currently lacking. Methods: We conducted a scoping review by adhering to the framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley. We searched five electronic databases for literature published after 1990, using the key categories of "hospitals," "fires," and "education." As a result, we identified 15 relevant articles that met our inclusion criteria for the review. Results: Of the 15 articles, 12 had adopted a quasi-experimental design and the remaining 3 had employed a true experimental design. The majority of these studies (11 out of 15) were conducted in the United States, with 4 studies forming committees or teams dedicated to education. Simulation methods were used in 13 studies, while 2 studies had employed a combination of methods. All studies focused on first-response procedures based on RACE (Rescue, Alarm, Contain, Extinguish/Evacuation). Outcome measures included the learners' overall experience, performance in the educational settings, and performance in the field, with all studies reporting positive results following the educational interventions. Conclusion: Our review highlights the importance of multi-professional and multi-departmental educational strategies based on institutional-level initiatives for healthcare providers to create a safe hospital environment.

A Study on the Effect on the Satisfaction of Pet Hospital (반려동물병원의 이용만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 )

  • This study was conducted to determine the effect on the satisfaction of pet hospital. For this research, the study was conducted on customers who raise dogs and cats nationwide and use pet hospital. Specialties, human factors, efficiency, physical factors, and pet satisfaction were derived from factors that affect pet hospital use satisfaction. Human factors included three factors as veterinarian, staff, and pet hairdressers, and regression analysis was performed. Research shows that professional, efficiency, and physical factors have a positive (+) effect on user satisfaction, veterinarians and staff, which are detailed factors of human factors, have a positive (+) effect on user satisfaction, and pet hairdressers do not. Overall, it was analyzed that it affects the satisfaction of use in the order of efficiency, professionalism, staff, veterinarian, pet satisfaction, and physical factors. This study is meaningful in that it divided human factors into occupational groups and developed and analyzed pet satisfaction factors as factors that affect pet hospital use satisfaction, and it is expected that pet hospital can help establish strategies to improve customer satisfaction.

Construction of a Campus Facilities Management System Using Three Dimensional GIS (3차원 GIS에 의한 캠퍼스 시설물 관리시스템 구축)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a campus facility management system, construct 3D graphic data and attribute data of facilities on the Kumoh National Institute of Technology and then verificate the developed system's practicability. Utilized the existing campus facility data from the existing drawings, images, cadastre records and so forth, 3D position data of underground facilities surveyed with a total station and high-resolution aerial photos, 3D realistic models were produced by means of a XD2D software and a XDWORLD Builder Professional software of GIS engines. We intend to embody not only campus guide service in virtual reality space but visualization of 3D virtual campus by providing 2D and 3D data to web space using XDWORLD server soon after. It is expected that the campus facility management system is able to contribute to the integrated management of 3D facility data service, the support of prompt decision-making related to spatial affairs, the work simplification through data holding in common between the members of the staff and so forth.

Factors Affecting Use Satisfaction with Hospital Information System of Hospital Administrator (병원행정직원의 병원정보시스템 이용만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study was designed to identify satisfaction with Hospital Information System(HIS) and the factors affecting them in hospital administrators. The data was collected for 24 days from Mar. 02 to 25, 2011. Among a total of 82 cases of the questionnaires, only 76 cases were used. From the survey, it was made known that there was statistically significant difference in speed, preciseness and stability of environmental factors depending on the type of hospitals while significant difference was found in stability by number of beds. Among the factors of system operation, the administrational method affected speed, preciseness, stability and convenience statistically significantly whereas, however, preciseness, stability and convenience became significantly different depending on the number of staff members. As for the factors that could exercise influence upon satisfaction with administrative service of the HIS, it was revealed that statistically considerable impact could be caused under management of own EDPS expert as well as under comanagement by the medical institution and professional business entity in case of hospital.

Stress and Coping Associated with an Early Childhood Teacher Education Practicum : The Student Teacher's Perspective (보육실습 현장에서 실습생이 들려주는 스트레스와 대처)

  • This qualitative study explored the causes of student teacher stress during an early childhood teaching practicum and investigated the ways in which student teachers cope with this stress. Four student teachers in the same practicum placement were individually interviewed. The findings revealed that stress arose over a variety of concerns including both lack of professional knowledge related to the teaching practice and the challenges involved in establishing a positive relationship with their cooperating teacher, the parents and staff. The stress experienced by the student teacher was accompanied by physical symptoms such as exhaustion, fatigue, and the onset of vulnerability to colds. However, the students were found to be generally unsuccessful in managing their stress effectively. The results suggest that attempts to improve the practicum environment should be accompanied by academic interests and practical issues related to these stresses and that there is a clear need for programs designed to assist student teachers develop stress management skills.

  • The main purpose of the study is to analyze the main aspects of personnel security in the context of the public administration system. Today the civil service is the central link in increasing the efficiency of the public administration system. One of the most important directions of reforming the civil service is strengthening personnel security, since the level of formation and implementation of managerial decisions depends on the staff of professional employees with the necessary qualities, competencies and competencies. As a result, the main aspects of personnel security in the context of public administration were analyzed.

Development of program models for single households in Healthy Families Support Centers (건강가정지원센터의 1인 가구 대상 프로그램 모형 개발)

  • This study aimed to develop program models for single households in the Healthy Families Support Centers. Data from seven female and seven male single households were collected through in-depth interviews. The major results were as follows. First, a demand for a program that both provides feeling safe and is self-caring came to the fore. Additionally, many respondents wanted to participate in programs with families. Second, the aspects of professional quality, diversity, and systematic management were mentioned as the strengths of programs in the Healthy Families Support Centers. Third, three program models were drawn up, as follows: The first model was a five-part program model like the current program settings of the Healthy Families Center. Those were sharing-caring, education, counselling, family-friendly culture, and community networking. The second model was a program for family relationships. The third was for joining programs with others. For the detailed program, a manual needs to be proposed, and the staff members who handle the programs for single households in the center will need to be retrained.
