  • In this paper, we propose an efficient method for locating lip. The lip shape is represented as a set of points based on Point Distribution Model. We use the Isodata clustering algorithm to find clusters for all training data. For each cluster, a lip shape model is calculated using principle component analysis. For all training data, a lip boundary model is calculated based on the pixel values around the lip boundary. To decide whether a recognition result is correct, we use a cost function based on the lip boundary model. Because of using different models according to the lip shapes, our method can localize correctly the flu far from the mean shape. The experiments have been performed for many images, and show correct recognition rate of 92%.

  • Smart phone usage has increased exponentially and open source based Android OS occupy significant market share. However, various malicious applications that use the characteristic of Android threaten users. In this paper, we construct an efficient malicious application detector by using the principle component analysis and the incremental k nearest neighbor algorithm, which consider an required permission, of Android applications. The cross validation is exploited in order to find a critical parameter of the algorithm. For the performance evaluation of our approach, we simulate a real data set of Contagio Mobile.

  • An improved bridgeless interleaved boost power factor correction (PFC) rectifier to improve power efficiency and component utilization is proposed in this study. With combined conventional bridgeless PFC circuit and interleaved technology, the proposed rectifier consists of two interleaved and magnetic inter-coupling boost bridgeless converter cells. Each cell operates alternatively in the critical conduction mode, which can achieve the soft-switching characteristics of the switches and increase power capacity. Auxiliary blocking diodes are employed to eliminate undesired circulating loops and reduce current-sensing noise, which are among the serious drawbacks of a dual-boost PFC rectifier. Magnetic component utilization is improved by symmetrically coupling two inductors on a unique core, which can achieve independence from each other based on the auxiliary diodes. Through the interleaved approach, each switch can operate in the whole line cycle. A simple control scheme is employed in the circuit by using a conventional interleaved controller. The operation principle and theoretical analysis of the converter are presented. A 600 W experimental prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis and feasibility of the proposed rectifier. System efficiency reaches 97.3% with low total harmonic distortion at full load.

  • PD(partial discharge) occurred from variable PD sources in air may be the cause of breakdown in high voltage equipment which affect huge outage in power system. Identification and localization of PD sources is very important for engineer to cope with huge accident beforhand. PD phenomena can be detected by acoustic emission sensor or electromagnetic sensor like antenna. This paper has investigated the identification method using PCA(principal component analysis) for the PD signals from variable PD sources, for which the electric field distribution and PD inception voltages were simulated by using commercial FEM program. PD signals was detected by ultra wideband antenna. Their own features were extracted as the frequency coefficients transformed with FFT(fast fourier transform) and used to obtain independent pincipal components of each PD signals.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study a high-performance control scheme for neutral-point-clamping three-level (NPC-3L) inverter fed dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives by considering some asymmetric factors such as the non-identical parameters in phase windings. To implement this, the system model is analyzed for dual three-phase PMSM drives with asymmetric factors based on the vector space decomposition (VSD) principle. Based on the equivalent circuits, PI controllers with feedforward compensation are used in the d-q subspace for regulating torque, where the cut-off frequency of the PI controllers are set at the twice the fundamental frequency for compensating both the additional DC component and the second order component caused by asymmetry. Meanwhile, proportional resonant (PR) controllers are proposed in the x-y subspace for suppressing the possible unbalanced currents in the phase windings. A dual three-phase space vector modulation (DT-SVM) is designed for the drive, and the balancing factor is designed based on the numerical fitting surface for balancing the DC link capacitor voltages. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the validity of the theoretical analysis and the proposed control scheme.

  • The major pungent component from Korean radish roots was purified by reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RPHPLC), and characterized as 4-methylthio-3-butenyl isothiocyanate on the basis of the sensory test (pungency), UV spectrum and mass spectrum analysis. The purified isothiocyanate moved as a single peak(retention time, 5.2 min) in RP-HPLC analysis, and as a single spot(Rf, 0.9) in TLC analysis.

  • Conventional feature of seismic classification focuses on strong seismic classification, while it is not suitable for classifying micro-seismic waves. We propose a feature extraction method based on histogram and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) in frequency-time space suitable for classifying seismic waves including strong, micro, and artificial seismic waves, as well as noise classification. The proposed method essentially employs histogram and PCA based features by concatenating the frequency and time information for binary classification which consist strong-micro-artificial/noise and micro/noise and micro/artificial seismic waves. Based on the recent earthquake data from 2017 to 2018, effectiveness of the proposed feature extraction method is demonstrated by comparing it with existing methods.

  • Currently much research is being done on host based intrusion detection using system calls which is a portion of kernel based data. Sequence based and frequency based preprocessing methods are mostly used in research for intrusion detection using system calls. Due to the large amount of data and system call types, it requires a significant amount of preprocessing time. Therefore, it is difficult to implement real-time intrusion detection systems. Despite this disadvantage, the frequency based method which requires a relatively small amount of preprocessing time is usually used. This paper proposes an effective method for detecting denial of service attacks using the frequency based method. Principal Component Analysis(PCA) will be used to select the principle system calls and a bayesian network will be composed and the bayesian classifier will be used for the classification.

  • There have been studies about dog’s personality and behavior, which is helpful to breed dogs as guide or companion. In this study, a questionnaire was developed using 54 Jindo dogs, which considered ten items about aggressiveness and sociability. The scores were analyzed by principle component analysis (PCA), after accounting for four variables: age, gender, growing place, and coat-colors. Our results from the PCA indicated three principle components, which classified ‘aggressiveness’, ‘sociability’ and unknown factor. The four variables did not significantly affect aggressiveness(P>0.05). However, there was a relationship between coat-color and sociability, i.e., the Jindo dogs with fawn color were more sociable than the white ones(P<0.1).

  • The spectral-domain methos has been applied to an analysis of a open microstrip line on a dielectrically biaxial anisotropic substrate which takes into account both weak and tight anisotropy effect, which are very important in high-requency applications such as optical modulator, MMIC, etc.. Numerical results of propagation characteristics are validated against the data previously published for special dielectrically weak anisotropic cases(sapphire, Epsilam-10) and New data are calculated for dielectrically tight anisotropic case(LiNb $O_{3}$). Data are for these anisotropic substrates presented to illustrate the effect of three different orientations of the principle dielectric axes. It can be derived from the calculated data in this paper that component of dielectric tensor(.epsilon.$_{vv}$ ) in y-axis which is normal to microstrip-laid plane is important factor in propagation characteristics.
