A Novel Dual-Input Boost-Buck Converter with Coupled Inductors for Distributed Thermoelectric Generation Systems

  • A dual-input boost-buck converter with coupled inductors (DIBBC-CI) is proposed as a thermoelectric generator (TEG) power conditioner with a wide input voltage range. The DIBBC-CI is built by cascading two boost cells and a buck cell with shared inverse coupled filter inductors. Low current ripple on both sides of the TEG and the battery are achieved. Reduced size and power losses of the filter inductors are benefited from the DC magnetic flux cancellation in the inductor core, leading to high efficiency and high power density. The operational principle, impact of coupled inductors, and design considerations for the proposed converter are analyzed in detail. Distributed maximum power point tracking, battery charging, and output control are implemented using a competitive logic to ensure seamless switching among operational modes. Both the simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed topology and control.

고역률을 갖는 단일 전력변환 AC-DC 컨버터 (Single Power-conversion AC-DC Converter with High Power Factor)

  • This paper proposes a single power-conversion ac-dc converter with a dc-link capacitor-less and high power factor. The proposed converter is derived by integrating a full-bridge diode rectifier and a series-resonant active-clamp dc-dc converter. To obtain a high power factor without a power factor correction circuit, this paper proposes a suitable control algorithm for the proposed converter. The proposed converter provides single power-conversion by using the proposed control algorithm for both power factor correction and output control. Also, the active-clamp circuit clamps the surge voltage of switches and recycles the energy stored in the leakage inductance of the transformer. Moreover, it provides zero-voltage turn-on switching of the switches. Also, a series-resonant circuit of the output-voltage doubler removes the reverse-recovery problem of the output diodes. The proposed converter provides maximum power factor of 0.995 and maximum efficiency of 95.1% at the full-load. The operation principle of the converter is analyzed and verified. Experimental results for a 400W ac-dc converter at a constant switching frequency of 50kHz are obtained to show the performance of the proposed converter.

  • A converter topology which is capable of four-quadrant(motoring and generation) operation is proposed for the variable speed constant frequency(hereafter referred as VSCF) power conversion scheme. The new converter topology for the VSCF power conversion scheme is made of two functional stages. One is converting stage which consists of six switches and six diodes and it interfaces a three-phase 60Hz at supply and a single-phase variable-frequency ac source. The other is the commutating stage though which each phase-winding is energized.

  • The Solar energy is either used as a solar thermal energy or converted to electrical power through power conversion system. The latter method is defined as a solar cell changing the solar energy into the direct electric energy or power conversion that convert the dc power into ac power.For the solar cell to be a practical alternative energy, the study should be focused not only on the solar cell ,but also the power conversion system for common power source. In this study, we get the suitable power to common load ,using Ag Grid DSC(Dye-sensitized solar cell). Our purpose is to achieve the common solar cell power generation system ,using converter and PWM(Pulse width modulation) inverter system controled by DSP.

  • his study deals with a power conversion unit of an anti-start air conditioner compressor system for the commercial vehicle. In case of converter, to reduce the switching losses and current stresses of the device, applies LLC resonant topology. Transformer leakage inductance in the full-bridge converter is used for making the resonance with the capacitor of the voltage-doubler. Through this method we can increase power and decrease volume of system. Both circuit analysis and design guideline are described. So in this paper, power conversion unit is designed. 2.5kW anti-start air conditioner compressor system was implemented, and system operation and stability was verified through experiment.

  • In this paper, a new single phase voltage sag/swell compensator using direct power conversion is proposed. A new compensator consists of input/output filter, series transformer and direct ac-ac converter, which is a single-phase back-to-back PWM converter without dc-link capacitors. Advantages of the proposed compensator include: simple power circuit by eliminating dc link electrolytic capacitors and thereby, improved reliability and increased life time of the entire compensator; simple PWM strategy or compensating voltage sag/swell at the same time and reduced switching losses in the ac-ac converter. Further, the proposed scheme is able to adopt simple switch commutation method without requiring complex four-step commutation method that is commonly employed in the direct power conversion. Simulation and experimental results are shown to demonstrate the advantages of the new compensator and PWM strategy. A 220V, 3kVA single-phase compensator based on the digital signal processor controller is built and tested.

  • 현재 대용량의 태양광 발전에 사용되는 정격용량은 250kW급에 이르고 있는데, 단일 인버터로 구성되어 있지 않고 컨버터를 사용하여 구성하는 경우 단일용량으로 컨버터 250kW급을 구현하는 것은 현실적으로 정격 소자, 수동소자와 시스템의 효율 등의 문제로 인하여 그 구현에 현실적인 한계가 있다. 따라서 규격화 된 용량의 단일 전원장치를 병렬 운전함으로써 이와 같은 문제점을 해결할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 CAN 통신을 이용하여 250kW PV PCS에 적용한 DC/DC 컨버터 4대의 병렬운전 기법을 제안하고 실험을 통해 그 우수성을 검증한다.

The optimum conversion efficiency in nile blue arabinose system by photogalvanic cell

  • The Nile blue has been used as a photosensitizer with Arabinose as a reductant in photogalvanic cell for optimum conversion efficiency and storage capacity. Reduction cost of the photogalvanic cell for commercial utility. The generated photopotential and photocurrent are 816.0 mV and $330.0{\mu}A$ respectively. The maximum power of the cell is $269.30{\mu}W$ where as the observed power at power point is $91.28{\mu}W$. The observed conversion efficiency is 0.6095% and the fill factor 0.2566 has been experimentally found out at the power point of the photogalvanic cell, whereas the absolute value is 1.00. The photogalvanic cell so developed can work for 120.0 minutes in dark if it is irradiated for 200.0 minutes that is the storage capacity of photogalvanic cell is 60.00%. The effects of different parameters on the electrical output of the photogalvanic cell have been observed. A mechanism has also been proposed for the photogeneration of electrical energy.

  • 본 논문에서는 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 사용한 저 전력 고 이득 주파수 상향변환기를 이용하여 IEEE 802.15.4 규격을 만족하는 직접 변환 송신기를 제안 및 설계한다. 설계된 RF 직접 변환 송신기는 차동입력 디지털-아날로그 변환기, 수동 저역통과 필터, 가변이득 증폭기, Quadrature 주파수 상향 변환기 그리고 차동 출력 구동증폭기로 구성되어 있다. 제안하는 직접변환 송신기에서 핵심적인 부분은 2.4 GHz Zigbee 규격을 저 전력으로 구동하는데 있다. 특히 Quadrature 주파수 상향변환기는 이득 Boosting을 통하여 적은 전류 소모로도 충분한 이득과 선형성을 보이고 있다. 측정결과, 공급전압 1.2 V에서 송신기의 총 소모 전류는 7.8 mA이고, 최대 출력 전력은 0 dBm 이상 그리고 -30 dBc의 ACPR(Adjacent Channel Power Ratio)을 나타내고 있다.
