  • This paper describes a measurement method for electromagnetic field strength of power-line communications(PLC) modem. First it outlines the technology used in PLC modems, and the technical regulation being offered to the technology, from the point of view of its effect on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The radio spectrum needs protection from other interferers, and there is a regime in place to provide this protection. Difficulties in achieving compatibility between the requirements for radio protection and the requirements for operation of the PLC modem mean that there is no consensus as yet as to how PLC modem components can be made compliant with EMC requirements globally. It is concluded that there is a measurement method according to CISPR standards which satisfy requirements in domestic regulation.

  • This paper describes a real time algorithm for blood flow estimation of LDF(laser Doppler flowmeter). Many algorithms for blood flow estimation are using power spectral density of Doppler signal by blood flow. In these research, the fast Fourier transformation is used to estimate power spectral density. This is a block processing procedure rather than real time processing. The algorithm in this paper used parametric spectral estimation. This has real time capability by estimation of AR(autoregressive) parameters sample by sample, and has smoothing power spectrum. Also, the frequency resolution is not limited by number of samples used to estimate AR parameter. Another advantage of this algorithm is that AR model enhance SNR.

  • The demand of the power and gas energy have been rapidly increasing with the industralization, therefore, the area where buried pipelines run parallel with the adjacent power lines and cross them increases in Seoul as well as other cities. These situation cause AC interference from the power lines. However, there aren't any standards to preserve the pipelines from AC interference in Korea. We just use other country's criteria directly. Other developed countries have used the various AC interference mitigation methods such as lumped grounding. cancellation wires and gradient control wires etc.. This paper introduces the steel plate method which is using for AC interference mitigation method in Korea and investigates the effects of mitigation methods through case study by computer simulation.

  • This paper describes analysis and optimization of Weil-Dobke synthetic testing circuit parameters, which is efficient and economical test method in high capacity AC circuit breaker. In this paper, analysis of synthetic short-circuit test circuit parameter proposed nondimensional factor that is reciprocal comparison value of circuit parameter and is not related to rated of circuit breaker, in particular, this study induce minimization of required energy of critical TRV generation specified in IEC 56 standards and present optimal design of synthetic short circuit testing facilities.

  • This paper investigates different QA standards such as KEPIC QAP, KEPIC END 1200, ISO/1EC 17025 etc. and as a result defines QA elements for Nuclear Power Plant equipment qualification(EQ) in Korea. This paper also proposes a practical QA certification system appropriate for an Integrated Organization for EQ which is being planned to be established in Korea. Since the level of the Korean EQ technology is comparatively low, the Korean manufacturers of the Nuclear Power Plant(NPP) equipment have usually used overseas EQ services. The EQ related organizations in Korea are making efforts to construct the integrated EQ system. In connection with this, it is required that the QA elements and QA certification system suitable for EQ in Korea be developed.

  • This paper presents the aspect and distribution of voltage and current harmonics being made at low voltage power systems. The voltage and current harmonics in power systems supplying various loads were monitored and analyzed. We have examined the results compared to advanced countries' harmonics control standards. As a result, the current harmonics were significantly greater than the voltage harmonics. In particular, the harmonics of currents flowing through loads with power switching electronics was pronounced. Also, the contents of current harmonics of street lamp circuits was about 30%, and it was decreased to 12.3% with the installation of series reactor. On the whole, The measured results of voltage and current harmonics exceeds the regulation limits recommended by IEEE 519-1992.

  • lt's a general tendency that electrical facilities of power station become a large size and increase in number because electrical facilities become big and complicated with internal industrial development and economic growth. So, electrical accidents were increased in this electrical facilities of power station. Therefore, we studied on the safety environment in power station and compared of internal and external standards. So this paper gives information which is applied to install the electrical facilities and Prevents measures against electrical accidents.

  • In this paper, there have been brief review about the important consideration in laboratory planning and construction of the artificial pollution testing facilities including 300 kV, 1800 kVA AC test system, which enable to lest and evaluate the UHV dielectric performance of power insulators up to transmission class. Also it is described simply about its trial running of the whole test system. To evaluate the performance characteristics against contamination for various power installation, especially for the insulators and kinds of bushings, brief investigation and an analysis of test objects and related international codes and standards have been conducted.

The Electrical Breakdown Characteristics of Broken Toughened Glass Stem Insulator (장간유리애자 파손시 절연파괴 특성)

  • This paper describes the electrical breakdown characteristics of broken toughened glass stem insulators by comparing with those of sound ones. The broken toughened glass stem insulators were taken from the electric railway field. According to the international standards, the sound and broken toughened glass stem insulators were tested in electrical strength. In the test, the power frequency voltage and the impulse voltage with a standard waveform were applied to the insulators. The power frequency voltage tests were carried out under both dry and wet condition and the impulse voltage tests under only dry condition. The acquired results were compared one another and discussed in electrical breakdown characteristic by analyzing the flashover progress pictures. As a result, the electrical strength of the broken toughened glass insulators was acquired and the processes of the surface breakdown on the toughened glass insulators were confirmed.

  • In this paper, problems and solutions are proposed for applying IEC 61850 to Distribution Automation System(DAS). Communication protocol integration in power automation system have issued by IEC standards, IEC 61850 of them has researched for applying IEC 61850 to many areas of power system in spite of that it was made for substation automation system. Especially, DAS is just about to apply IEC 61850 by communication network change from serial to ethernet although DNP 3.0 is used. But it's impossible to apply directly IEC 61850 to DAS by difference of environment which unfixed wide area and separated nodes in power distribution system unlike concept of IEC 61850 is made by Substation Automation System(SAS) environment of limited space. Thus, this paper proposed applications of three types which conceptual, practical, and future to consider problems and solutions when apply IEC 61850 to Ethernet based DAS.
