  • In this paper, we proposed low power algorithm for battery residual capacity and a task. Algorithm the mobile devices power of the battery residual capacity for the task to perform power consumption to reduce the frequency alters. Task is different in power consumption according to kinds of in time accomplishment device to use. Adjustment of power consumption analyzes kinds of given tasks from having the minimum power consumption task to having the maximum power consumption task. Control frequency so that power consumption waste to be exposed to battery residual capacity can be happened according to the results analyzed. Experiment the frequency by adjusting power consumption a method to reduce using [7] and in the same environment power of the battery residual capacity consider the task to perform frequency were controlled. Efficiency was proved compare with the experiment results [7]. The experiments results show increment in the number of processing by 45.46% comparing with that [7] algorithm.

  • The differential power analysis calculates the intermediate value related to sensitive information and substitute into the power model to obtain (hypothesized) power consumption. After analyzing the calculated power consumption and measuring power consumption, the secret information value can be obtained. Hamming weight and hamming distance models are most commonly used power consumption model, and the power consumption model is obtained through the modeling technique. If the power consumption model assumed by the actual equipment differs from the power consumption of the actual equipment, the side channel analysis performance is declined. In this paper, we propose a method that records measured power consumption and exploits as power consumption model. The proposed method uses the power consumption at the time when the information (plain text, cipher text, etc.) available in the encryption process. The proposed method does not need template in advance and uses the power consumption measured by the actual equipment, so it accurately reflects the power consumption model of the equipment.. Simulation and experiments show that by using our proposed method, side channel analysis is improved on the existing power modeling method.

  • Context-aware application has a lot of power consumption because it creates context by using a number of smartphone's sensors. Furthermore, only few kinds of researches have been conducted that provide information for the evaluation result of power consumption in the aspect of applications. In addition, evaluation of power consumption do not consider user's usage pattern or provide only total amount of power consumption, and inform developers power consumption of sensors undistinguishable. It makes developers hard to develop a power consumption-considered application. If developers could get information for power consumption of context-aware application in detail, a development of power-considered context-aware applications would be possible. Consequently, this paper proposes a BMT(Bench Mark Test) model which is able to inform developers useful evaluation criteria and result about power consumption of smartphone's components and sensors with usage pattern considered.

  • One of the obstacles preventing the Zigbee protocol from being widely used is the excessive power consumption of Zigbee devices in low bandwidth and low power requirement applications. This paper proposes a protocol that resolves the power efficiency problem. The proposed protocol reduces the power consumption of Zigbee devices in beacon-enabled networks without increasing the time taken by Zigbee peripherals to communicate with their coordinator. The proposed protocol utilizes a beacon control mechanism called a "sleep pattern," which is updated based on the previous event statistics. It determines exactly when Zigbee peripherals wake up or sleep. A simulation of the proposed protocol using realistic parameters and an experiment using commercial products yielded similar results, demonstrating that the protocol may be a solution to reduce the power consumption of Zigbee devices.

  • This paper presents a viewport resolution scaling technique to reduce power consumption in mobile graphic processing units (GPUs). This technique controls the rendering resolution of applications in proportion to the resolution factor. In the mobile environment, it is essential to find an effective resolution factor to achieve low power consumption because both the resolution and power consumption of a GPU are in mutual trade-off. This paper presents a resolution factor that can minimize image quality degradation and gain power reduction. For this purpose, software and hardware viewport resolution scaling techniques are applied in the Android environment. Then, the correlation between image quality and power consumption is analyzed according to the resolution factor by conducting a benchmark analysis in the real commercial environment. Experimental results show that the power consumption decreased by 36.96% on average by the hardware viewport resolution scaling technique.

  • Various Time Synchronization protocols for a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) have been developed since time synchronization is important in many time-critical WSN applications. Aside from synchronization accuracy, energy constraint should also be considered seriously for time synchronization protocols in WSNs, which typically have limited power environments. This paper performs analysis of prominent WSN time synchronization protocols in terms of power consumption and test by simulation. In the analysis and simulation tests, each protocol shows different performance in terms of power consumption. This result is helpful in choosing or developing an appropriate time synchronization protocol that meets the requirements of synchronization accuracy and power consumption (or network lifetime) for a specific WSN application.

  • Wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) is considered as recent technology for the detection cancer cells in the human digestive system. WCE sends the captured information from inside the body to a sensor on the skin surface through a wireless medium. In WCE, the design of low-power consumption devices is a challenging topic. In the Shannon-Nyquist sampling theorem, the number of samples should be at least twice the highest transmission frequency to reconstruct precise signals. The number of samples is proportional to the power consumption in wireless communication. This paper proposes compressive sensing as a method to reduce power consumption in WCE, by means of a trade-off between samples and reconstruction accuracy. The proposed scheme is validated under channel constraints, expressed as the realistic human body path loss. The results show that the proposed scheme achieves a significant reduction in WCE power consumption and achieves a faster computation time with low signal error reconstruction.
