In the recent concrete industry, when producing recycled aggregates, waste concrete powder is by-produced in large quantities; however, since it is not used properly but buried or discarded. This study is to apply the waste concrete powder to a cement extruding panel as filler. Flexural strength and microstructure characteristics of panel is tested in order to improve the economics of the extruding panel. As a results of this study, it was found that extruding panel replacing silica(No.8) as the waste concrete powder totally showed little difference in the strength and satisfied the target flexural strength of 14MPa, comparing with controlled panel. In addition, we can understand that rich Portlandite and Calcite contributed to develop the strength in all curing conditions from XRD pattern.
Mn-Zn ferrite powder was obtained by wet method that was to be coprecipitated the metal ions of Fe2+, Mn2+ and Zn2+ with alkali solution. The target composition of the ferrite powder was 52 mol% Fe2O3, 24 mol% MnO, and 24 mol% ZnO, that was based on the region of high permeability. And the other ferrite powder was prepared by the dry method that was to be mixed the metal oxides as the above chemical composition. The wet method was compared with dry method for the powder properties and the electromagnetic characteristics of sintered cores. The synthesized powder by wet method was smaller particle size, narrower particle distribution, and higher purity than that of dry method. The initial permeability of sintered sample prepared by the wet method was 14000~28000, on the other side, 9000~15500 in case of the dry method.
In this study, we demonstrated a simple and eco-friendly method, including mechanical polishing and attrition milling processes, to recycle sputtered indium tin oxide targets to indium tin oxide nanopowders and targets for sputtered transparent conductive films. The utilized indium tin oxide target was first pulverized to a powder of sub- to a few- micrometer size by polishing using a diamond particle coated polishing wheel. The calcination of the crushed indium tin oxide powder was carried out at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, based on the thermal behavior of the indium tin oxide powder; then, the powders were downsized to nanometer size by attrition milling. The average particle size of the indium tin oxide nanopowder was decreased by increasing attrition milling time and was approximately 30 nm after attrition milling for 15 h. The morphology, chemical composition, and microstructure of the recycled indium tin oxide nanopowder were investigated by FE-SEM, EDX, and TEM. A fully dense indium tin oxide sintered specimen with 97.4% of relative density was fabricated using the recycled indium tin oxide nanopowders under atmospheric pressure at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. The microstructure, phase, and purity of the indium tin oxide target were examined by FE-SEM, XRD, and ICP-MS.
Bulk nanostructured copper was fabricated by a shock compaction method using the planar shock wave generated by a single gas gun system. Nano sized powders, average diameter of 100 nm, were compacted into the capsule and target die, which were designed to eliminate the effect of undesired shock wave, and then impacted with an aluminum alloy target at 400 m/s. Microstructure and mechanical properties of the shock compact specimen were analyzed using an optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and micro indentation. Hardness results showed low values (approximately 45~80 Hv) similar or slightly higher than those of conventional coarse grained commercial purity copper. This result indicates the poor quality of bonding between particles. Images from OM and SEM also confirmed that no strong bonding was achieved between them due to the insufficient energy and surface oxygen layer of the powders.
In all major industries ranging from powder industries and advanced ceramics, to the food and pharmaceutical manufacture powder industries, the main production process is the spray dryers. In this paper, a systematic approach is used and six rules are obtained for the basis of the fuzzy model. A fuzzy model is based on the past behavior of the target system and expected to be able to reproduce the behavior of the target system. The output of the developed fuzzy model shows, graphically and statistically, a high level of face validity. Therefore, it is concluded that the developed fuzzy model mimics the actual process and can be considered, with confidence, as a reliable model to study, analyze, and improve the existing process.
Using calcium-phosphate-powder targets with the Ca/P ratios of 1.0-1.67, hydroxyapatite ($Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6(OH)_2$, HAp) thin films with 4-7㎛ thickness were prepared on titanium metal plates by r.f. magnetron sputtering, followed an annealing at $200^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr under a high water vapor pressure using an autoclave. All the specimens were systematically characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM and EDS analyses. The post-annealed films were confirmed to be a nonstoichiometric oxyhydroxyapatite by XRD and FT-IR measurements.
The microstructure of the 1020 mild steel target in the region ahead of craters, made by colliding against Cu and W-Cu shaped-charge jets. has been investigated in the present work. The region ahead of the crater impacted by the Cu shaped-charge jet reveals grain refinement implying the formation of sub-grains, while that of W-Cu one leads to martensitic transformation indicating that the region was heated up to an austenitic region which was followed by rapid cooling. The pressure of W-Cu shaped-charge jet impacting against the target when calculated is higher than that of Cu one. The microhardness of the region ahead of the crater impacted by the W-Cu shaped-charge jet is also higher than that of the Cu one. The microstructure of W-Cu slug that remains inside of the crater depicts the occurrence of the remarkable elongation of W particles during the liner collapse. The microstructural evolution of the region ahead of the crater is discussed on the basis of the pressure dependency of the ferrite/austenite transformation in the steel.
A rf reactive sputter deposition technique was adopted to deposit ferroelectric lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films with high rate from a ZrTi alloy target combined with PbO pellets. Deposition characterisitics including the effects of PbO are ratio were discussed. A new deposition mode called the quasi-metallic mode was observed. Perovskite PZT films were prepared at a growth temperature as low as$ 450^{\circ}C$. However, because the target structure is unstable, weproposed a mixture target consisted of Zr, Ti and PbO. Fundamental experiments were investigated using the powder target. Perovskite PZT film could be obtained at $450^{\circ}C$ with better electrical properties also.
This study is performed to evaluate flowability of high flowable concrete using ordinary portland cement, crushed coarse aggregate, crushed sand, sea sand, fly ash, lime powder and superplasticizer. The slump flow and air content are increased with increasing the content of lime powder. But, the O-type funneling time and Box-type passing are decreased with increasing the content of lime powder. The slump flow, air content, O-type funneling time, Box-type passing and L-type filling of target compressive strength 21-27 MPa and 35-42 MPa at curing age 28 days are 47-50 cm and 56-60 cm, 4.2-5.5% and 4.0-5.7%, 8-12s and 5-10s, 4.3-5.0 cm and 3.4-5.0 cm, and excellent, respectively. These concrete can be used for high flowable concrete.
