  • PURPOSES : Previous Speed Profile reflects the patterns of speeds in sections of tangents to curves in the roads. However these patterns are uniform of speeds and Acceleration/Deceleration. In oder to supplement these shortcomings. this study made a new profile which can contain factors of Acceleration/Deceleration through theories of Previous Speed Profiles. METHODS : For sakes, this study developed the speed prediction model of Rural Multi-Lane Highways and calculated Acceleration/Deceleration by appling a Polynomial model based on developed speed prediction model. Polynomial model is based on second by second. Acceleration/Deceleration Profile is developed with the various scenarios of road geometric conditions. RESULTS : The longer an ahead tangent length is, The higher an acceleration rate in curve occurs due to wide sight distance. However when there are big speed gaps between two curves, the longer tangent length alleviate acceleration rate. CONCLUSIONS : Acceleration/Deceleration Profile can overview th patterns of speeds and Accelerations/Decelerations in the various road geometric conditions. Also this result will help road designer have a proper guidance to exam a potential geometric conditions where may occur the acceleration/deceleration states.

  • A two-dimensional (2D) analytical model for the potential distribution and threshold voltage of short-channel ion-implanted GaAs MESFETs operating in the sub-threshold regime has been presented. A double-integrable Gaussian-like function has been assumed as the doping distribution profile in the vertical direction of the channel. The Schottky gate has been assumed to be semi-transparent through which optical radiation is coupled into the device. The 2D potential distribution in the channel of the short-channel device has been obtained by solving the 2D Poisson's equation by using suitable boundary conditions. The effects of excess carrier generation due to the incident optical radiation in channel region have been included in the Poisson's equation to study the optical effects on the device. The potential function has been utilized to model the threshold voltage of the device under dark and illuminated conditions. The proposed model has been verified by comparing the theoretically predicted results with simulated data obtained by using the commercially available $ATLAS^{TM}$ 2D device simulator.

  • In cases of the microfluidic channel, the electrokinetic influence on the transport behavior can be found. The externally applied body force originated from the electrostatic interaction between the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann field and the flow-induced electrical field is applied in the equation of motion. The electrostatic potential profile is computed a priori by applying the finite difference scheme, and an analytical solution to the Navier-Stokes equation of motion for slit-like microchannel is obtained via the Green's function. An explicit analytical expression for the induced electrokinetic potential is derived as functions of relevant physicochemical parameters. The effects of the electric double layer, the zeta potential of the solid surface, and the charge condition of the channel wall on the velocity profile as well as the electroviscous behavior are examined. With increases in either electric double layer or zeta potential, the average fluid velocity in the channel of same charge is entirely reduced, whereas the electroviscous effect becomes stronger. We observed an opposite behavior in the channel of opposite charge, where the attractive electrostatic interactions are presented.

The electrostatic potential profile is computed a priori by applying the finite difference scheme, and an analytical solution to the Navier-Stokes equation of motion for slit-like pore is obtained via the Green's function. The influences of the electric double layer, the surface potential of the wall, and the charge condition of the pore wall upon the velocity profile as well as the streaming potential are examined. With increasing of either the electric double layer thickness or the surface potential, the average fluid velocity is entirely reduced, while the streaming potential increases.

  • This paper has analyzed the relation of conduction path and subthreshold swing for doping profile in channel of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. Since the channel size of asymmetric DGMOSFET is greatly small and number of impurity is few, the high doping channel is analyzed. The analytical potential distribution is derived from Possion's equation, and Gaussian distribution function is used as doping profile. The conduction path and subthreshold swing are derived from this analytical potential distribution, and those are investigated for variables of doping profile, projected range and standard projected deviation, according to the change of channel length and thickness. As a result, subthreshold swing is reduced when conduction path is approaching to top gate, and that is increased with a decrease of channel length and a increase of channel thickness due to short channel effects.

  • The stability of shallow cavities with an arbitrary profile is a difficult issue in geotechnical engineering. This paper investigates this problem on the basis of the upper bound theorem of limit analysis and the Hoek-Brown failure criterion. The influence of pore pressure is taken into consideration by regarding it as an external force acting on rock skeleton. An objective function is constructed by equating the internal energy dissipation to the external force work. Then the Lagrange variation approach is used to solve this function. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by comparing the analytical solutions with the published research. The relations between shallow and deep cavity are revealed as well. The detaching curve of cavity roof with elliptical profile is obtained. In order to facilitate the application of engineering practice, the numerical results are tabulated, which play an important role in tunnel design and stability analysis of roof. The influential factors on potential collapse are taken into consideration. From the results, the impact of various factors on the extent of detaching is seen intuitively.

  • The straightness property is one of fundamental geometric tolerances to be strictly controlled for guideways of machine tools and measuring machines. The staightness measurement for long guideways was usually difficult to perform, and it needed additional equipments or special treatment with limited application. In this paper, a new approach is proposed using the profile matching technique for the long guideways, which can be applicable to most of straghtness measurements. An edge of relativelly sthort length is located along a divided section of a long guideway, and the local straightness measurement is performed. The edge is then moved to the next section with several positions overlap. After thelocal straightness profile is measured for every section along the long guideway with overlap, the global straightness profile is constructed using the profile matching technique based on theleast squares method. The proposed techinique is numerically tested for two cases of known global straightness profile arc profile and irregular profile and those profiles with and without random error intervention, respectively. When norandom errors are involved, the constructed golval profile is identical to the original profile. When the random errors are involved, the effect of the number of overlap points are investigated, and it is also found that the difference between the difference between the constructed and original profiles is very close to the limit of random uncertainty with juist few overlap points. The developed technique has been practically applied to a vertical milling machine of moving table type, and showed good performance. Thus the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated, and shows great potential for variety of application for most of straightness measuirement cases using straight edges, laser optics, and angular measurement equipments.

  • Purpose: This study attempted to classify the potential layer for pain in the middle-aged and elderly based on the seventh Aging Research Panel Survey (2018) data and to identify the degree of depression by potential layer. Methods: This study used data from the 2018 Aging Research Panel Survey, whose participants included 6,890 middle-aged and elderly people. The data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 22.0 and M-plus 8.0 for latent profile analysis. Results: In the study, Type 1 was a "general pain group", Type 2 was the "high back pain group", Type 3 was the "lower body pain group", Type 4 was the "shoulder pain group", and Type 5 was the "pain-free group", which included those who answered that there was no pain. Second, it was found that the variables such as gender, age, education, or not alone were statistically significant (p<.001). Third, the difference in income, subjective health conditions, depression according to the pain site type group were confirmed. Depression was significantly higher in the back pain group, lower body pain group, and shoulder pain group compared to the pain-free group. Conclusion: Developing integrative interventions is necessary to reduce depression using the pain coping skills in middle-aged and Elderly.

  • Gears, crucial components in modern precision machinery for power transmission mechanisms, are required to have low contacting noise with high torque transmission, which makes the use of gear-tooth profile modifications and gear-tooth surface crowning extremely efficient and valuable. Due to the shortcomings of current techniques, such as manual rectification, mechanical modification, and numerically controlled rectification, we propose a novel electrochemical gear-tooth profile modification method based on an artificial neural network control technique. The fundamentals of electrochemical tooth-profile modifications based on real-time control and a mathematical model of the process are discussed in detail. Due to the complex and uncertain relationships among the machining parameters of electrochemical tooth-profile modification processes, we used an artificial neural network to determine the required processing electric current as the tooth-profile modification requirements were supplied. The system was implemented and a practical example was used to demonstrate that this technology is feasible and has potential applications in the production of precision machinery.

  • Quadrupole Mass Spectrometers (QMS) is a very useful tool in vacuum process diagnosis. Tungsten filament based ion sources are vulnerable to contamination from process gas monitoring. Common symptoms of quadrupole mass spectrometer malfunction is appearance of unwanted contaminant mass peaks or no detection of any ion peaks. We disassembled used quadrupole mass spectrometer and found out black insulating deposits on inside of ion source parts. Five steps of cleaning procedure were applied and almost full restoration of functions were confirmed in two types of closed ion source quadrupole mass spectrometer. By using a numerical modeling (CFD-ACE+) technique, the electric potential profile of ion source with/without insulating deposit was calculated and showed the possibility of quadrupole mass spectrometer malfunction by the deterioration of designed potential profile inside the ion source.
