A numerical parametric study on hydrofoil interaction in tandem

  • Understanding the effects of the parameters affecting the interaction of tandem hydrofoil system is a crucial subject in order to fully comprehend the aero/hydrodynamics of any vehicle moving inside a fluid. This study covers a parametric study on tandem hydrofoil interaction in both potential and viscous fluids using iterative Boundary Element Method (BEM) and RANSE. BEM allows a quick estimation of the flow around bodies and may be used for practical purposes to assess the interaction inside the fluid. The produced results are verified by conformal mapping and Finite Volume Method (FVM). RANSE is used for viscous flow conditions to assess the effects of viscosity compared to the inviscid solutions proposed by BEM. Six different parameters are investigated and they are the effects of distance, thickness, angle of attack, chord length, aspect ratio and tapered wings. A generalized 2-D code is developed implementing the iterative procedure and is adapted to generate results. Effects of free surface and cavitation are ignored. It is believed that the present work will provide insight into the parametric interference between hydrofoils inside the fluid.

The Matrix Effect of Biological Concomitant Element on the Signal Intensity of Ge, As, And Se in Inductively Coupled Plasma/Mass Spectrometry

  • The non-spectroscopic interference effects that occurred in inductively coupled plasma/mass spectrometry were studied for Ge, As and Se in human urine and serum. Many biological samples contain Na, K, Cl and organic compounds, which may cause the enhancement and depression on the analyte signal. The effect of 1% concomitant elements such as N, Cl, S, P, C, Na, and K on a 100 ㎍/L germanium, arsenic and selenium signal has been investigated by ICP/MS. The interference effects were not in the same direction. It appeared that concomitant elements such as Cl, S, and C induce an enhancement effect, whereas N and P did not show any significant effect. And, Na and K caused a depression. We have found a link between the abundance of analytes and the ionization potential of concomitant elements (eV), except carbon and nitrogen.

Effects of Array Weight Errors on Parallel Interferene Cancellation Receiver in Uplink Synchronous and Asynchronous DS-CDMA Systems

  • This paper investigates the impacts of array weight errors (AWE) in an antenna array (AA) on a parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver in uplink synchronous and asynchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. The performance degradation due to an AWE, which is approximated by a Gaussian distributed random variable, is estimated as a function of the variance of the AWE. Theoretical analysis, confirmed by simulation, demonstrates the tradeoffs encountered between system parameters such as the number of antennas and the variance of the AWE in terms of the achievable average bit error rate and the user capacity. Numerical results show that the performance of the PIC with the AA in the DS-CDMA uplink is sensitive to the AWE. However, either a larger number of antennas or uplink synchronous transmissions have the potential of reducing the overall sensitivity, and thus improving its performance.

  • OVPN(Optical Virtual Private Network) based on DWDM(Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) backbone framework is considered as a promising approach for the future VPN. This paper proposes a new routing algorithm, called PMIPMR (Priority-based Minium Interference Path Multicast Routing) algorithm which finds an alternate route considering node priorities when the congestion is occurred in a network. The PMIPMR algorithm tries to improve blocking probability and wavelength utilization by avoiding congested path for potential future connection requests.

RAKE Receiver for Time Division Synchronous CDMA Mobile Terminal

  • For the sake of the potential ability of overcoming interference in TD-SCDMA(time division-synchronous code division multiple access) systems, pilot signal is adopted, but the presented TD-SCDMA protocol has not considered the Rake technique for their mobile terminals. This paper developed a RAKE receiver algorithm and an implementation circuit, which make use of the pilot signal in the burst structure of the TD-SCDMA base station to estimate main channel parameter(channel delays) in the downlink of TD-SCDMA wireless network. The algorithm can reduce multipath interference for the mobile units in multiusers' case. Theoretic performance analysis presented in the paper and computer simulations show that there is a range of BER for Rake receiver and confirm that the proposed RAKE receiver algorithm achieved a better performance under multipath fading propagation and multiusers conditions.

  • Selective, highly stable determination of epinephrine(adrenalin) was achieved in cyclic voltammetric measurement carried out at electrochemically treated conductive boron-doped diamond electrode. Boron-doped diamond electrodes were prepared on single crystal Si wafers by microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition and B$_2$O$_3$ was dissolved in acetone/methanol(1:1) mixture solution so that the B/C weight ratio ca. 10$^3$ppm.. Epinephrine is a kind of catecholamines, which secreted from adrenal marrow cells. The serious problem to detection of epinephrine is the interference phenomena of electroactive constituent, including AA. In this study, electrochemical treatment of BDD was carried out to discriminate between epinephrine and AA responses. Experimental results showed that the peak potential of AA oxidation shift to the positive direction and the oxidation peak of epinephrine was unchanged. The effect of electrochemical treatment was maintained up to 40hrs.

Light microscopic evidence of in vivo differentiation from the transplanted inferior turbinate-derived stem cell into the rod photoreceptor in degenerating retina of the mouse

  • The human turbinate-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hTMSCs), which were DiI-labeled and transplanted into the subretinal space in degenerating mouse retina, were observed in retinal vertical sections processed for rhodopsin (a marker for rod photoreceptor) by confocal microscope with differential interference contrast (DIC) filters. The images clearly demonstrated that DiI-labeled hTMSCs have rhodopsin-immunoreactive appendages, indicating differentiation of transplanted hTMSC into rod photoreceptor. Conclusively, the finding suggests therapeutic potential of hTMSCs in retinal degeneration.

  • 최근 UHF 대역에서 동작하는 RFID 시스템이 활발히 연구되고 있으며, 유통 물류 분야를 시작으로 다양한 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 UHF RFID 시스템의 주파수 간섭 중 RFID 시스템 설계시 가장 문제가 되고 있는 리더간 간섭을 인식 거리 측면에서 분석하였다. RFID 주파수 간섭를 정량적으로 분석하기 위하여 새로운 성능 지표로 IRRR을 정의하고, IRRR의 유용성을 보이기 위해 두 개의 RFID 리더와 하나의 태그로 구성된 측정 시스템을 구성하여 IRRR이 실제 환경의 특성을 반영하고 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서, 실제 다양한 RFID 시스템을 설치할 때 IRRR을 설계 파라미터로 사용함으로써 주파수 간섭 문제를 해결할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 2012년 12월 31일 아날로그 TV 신호가 전면적으로 디지털 TV로 전환되면서, TV 유휴대역의 활용에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 다양한 소출력 기기의 TV 유휴대역 사용이 예상되며, 따라서 TV 유휴대역을 사용하는 소출력 기기와 DTV 중계기 간의 간섭 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 DTV 시스템과 소출력 기기 간의 간섭영향에 관해 분석하였다. 두 시스템이 정상적으로 동작하기 위한 최소 이격 거리를 측정하도록 하며 간섭 분석 방법은 최소 결합 손실 방법을 이용하였다. 실험에서 피 간섭원은 DTV 시스템이고 간섭원은 소출력 기기들로 설정하여 실험 및 분석하였다.

T-DMB 대역에서 DAB 채널의 효율적인 채널 배치 방안 (The Efficient Allocation Method of DAB Channels on T-DMB Frequency Band)

  • 디지털 통신기술의 발전으로 아날로그 미디어들이 디지털로 전환되고 있다. 국내 라디오 방송은 아직 아날로그 방식을 통해 서비스되고 있고 디지털라디오를 위한 연구가 진행 중이다. 아날로그 방식의 주파수 효율이 저하되는 등의 기술적인 한계 때문에 외국에서는 이미 라디오의 디지털 전환이 보편적으로 이루어져 있다. DAB는 디지털 라디오 방식중 하나로써, 기존 AM/FM 대역을 사용하지 않고, T-DMB 대역을 이용한다. 따라서 기존 라디오 방송에 간섭없이 동시 방송을 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 반면에 이미 사용중인 T-DMB 방송에 간섭을 주지 않고 채널을 배치해야 하는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 T-DMB 대역에서 디지털 라디오를 위한 효율적인 DAB 채널배치 방안을 제안한다. 기존 T-DMB 방송에 간섭을 주지 않고 DAB 방송채널을 배치하였고, 모의실험을 통해 간섭영향을 도출하여 제안된 방안을 검증하였다.
