In this paper, the position control of a detuned indirect field oriented control (IFOC) induction motor drive is studied. A proposed Simple-Neuro-Controllers (SNCs) are designed and analyzed to achieve high-dynamic performance both in the position command tracking and load regulation characteristics for robotic applications. The proposed SNCs are trained on-line based on the back propagation algorithm with a modified error function. Four SNCs are developed for position, speed and d-q axes stator currents respectively. Also, a synchronous proportional plus integral-derivative (PI-D) two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) position controller and PI-D speed controller are designed for an ideal IFOC induction motor drive with the desired dynamic response. The performance of the proposed SNCs and synchronous PI-D 2DOF position controllers for detuned field oriented induction motor servo drive is investigated. Simulation results show that the proposed SNCs controllers provide high-performance dynamic characteristics which are robust with regard to motor parameter variations and external load disturbance. Furthermore, comparing the SNC position controller with the synchronous PI-D 2DOF position controller demonstrates the superiority of the proposed SNCs controllers due to attain a robust control performance for IFOC induction motor servo drive system.

In high-capacity disk drives with ever-growing track density, the allowable level of position error signal (PES) is becoming smaller and smaller. In order to achieve the high TPI disk drive, it is necessary to improve the writing accuracy during the STW(servo track writing) process through the reduction of TMR sources. Among the main contributors of the NRRO(Non-Repeatable Run-out) PES, the disk vibration and the HSA(head-stack assembly) vibration is considered to be one of the most significant factors. Also the most contributors of RRO(Repeatable Run- out) come from the contributors of NRRO which is written-in at the time of STW(servo track writing) process. In this paper, the experimental test result shows that the effect of NRRO on servo written-in RRO effectively can be reduced through a STW process under low dense medium condition such as semi-vacuum.
In this paper, an intelligent sliding-mode position controller (ISMC) for achieving favorable decoupling control and high precision position tracking performance of permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo drives is proposed. The intelligent position controller consists of a sliding-mode position controller (SMC) in the position feed-back loop in addition to an on-line trained fuzzy-neural-network model-following controller (FNNMFC) in the feedforward loop. The intelligent position controller combines the merits of the SMC with robust characteristics and the FNNMFC with on-line learning ability for periodic command tracking of a PMSM servo drive. The theoretical analyses of the sliding-mode position controller are described with a second order switching surface (PID) which is insensitive to parameter uncertainties and external load disturbances. To realize high dynamic performance in disturbance rejection and tracking characteristics, an on-line trained FNNMFC is proposed. The connective weights and membership functions of the FNNMFC are trained on-line according to the model-following error between the outputs of the reference model and the PMSM servo drive system. The FNNMFC generates an adaptive control signal which is added to the SMC output to attain robust model-following characteristics under different operating conditions regardless of parameter uncertainties and load disturbances. A computer simulation is developed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed intelligent sliding mode position controller. The results confirm that the proposed ISMC grants robust performance and precise response to the reference model regardless of load disturbances and PMSM parameter uncertainties.
In this paper, the initial pole-position estimation of a surface (non-salient) permanent magnet synchronous motor is mathematically analyzed and surveyed on the basis of simulation analysis, and developed for accurate servo motor drive. This algorithm is well carried out under the full closed-loop position control without any pole sensors and is completely insensitive to any motor parameters. This estimation is based on the principle that the initial pole-position is simply calculated by the reverse trigonometric function using the two feedback currents in the full closed-loop position control. The proposed algorithm consists of the predefined reference position profile, the information of feedback currents, speed, and relative position, and the reverse trigonometric function for the initial-pole position estimation. Comparing with the existing researches, the mathematical analysis is introduced to get a more accurate initial pole-position of the surface permanent magnet motor under the closed-loop position control. It is found that the proposed algorithm can be easily applied in servo drive applications because it satisfies the following user's specifications; accuracy and moving distance.

This paper presents an implementation of position control system of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using digital hysteresis controller. Although SRM possess several advantages including simple structure and high efficiency, the control drive system using power semiconductor device is required to drive this motor. The control drive system increases overall system cost. To overcome this problem and increase the application of SRM, it is needed to develope the servo drive system of SRM. So, the position control system of 1 Hp SRM is developed and evaluated by adaptive switching angle control. The position/speed response characteristics and voltage/current waveforms are presented to prove the capability of SRM for a servo drive application. Moreover, digital hysteresis current controller is developed and evaluated by experimental testing for the purpose of system developmental cost reduction.

In this paper we present how to design the software-based speed and position controller of a DC servo drive system for an educational robot. The controller designed by fully digital scheme consists of a CPU, drive unit, encoder pulse coding unit, speed and position detector. The control algirithm of the controller is a hybrid one such that speed control and position control are switched at some instant to get more accuracy. The experimental resusts of the proposed DC servo-controller show good performances for the position and speed control of the proposed educational robot system.

This paper describes the application of sliding mode control based on the variable structure control(VSC) concept for high-performance position control of an induction servo motor A design method based on external load parameters has been developed for the robust control of AC induction servo drive. Also, a slip frequency vector control with software current control technique has been adopted to achieve fast response of an induction motor drive The position control scheme is comprised of a variable structure controller and slip frequency vector control for inverter fed induction servo motor. Simulated results are given to verify the proposed design method by adoption of sliding mode and show robust control for a change of shaft inertia, viscous friction and torque disturbance.

This study describes the scheme of vector drive system without speed sensor for AC servo motor using theory of a flux observer and based on the field oriented vector control. The new method of speed estimation is presented from operate with the position and magnitude of the secondary flux which obtain from the voltage reference and detected current. As the estimated speed is settled by the flux and the machine-specific parameters. this method don't need to adjust the gain of the parameter. Based on the derived theory for vector control. the scheme for sensorless vector drive of AC servo motor is designed and realized. And the experiment verifies it passable to realize the sensorless vector drive based on a field-oriented type.
Despite the development of electronic components and microprocessors, hydraulic actuators are still being applied in various applications. In some applications, there is a desire to apply a hydraulic actuator with a relatively small position error to the system. Various studies have been conducted to reduce the position error of hydraulic actuators. In this paper, the position error of the hydraulic actuator when the hydraulic oil pressure is supplied is defined as the offset generated by the servo valve, and the method for correcting the servo valve offset has been studied. A method for compensating the servo valve offset was proposed and it was verified through experiments that the position error of the hydraulic actuator was reduced. We also compared the servo valve offset correction method and controller using the PID control and disturbance observer used to reduce the position error of the hydraulic actuator. No-load test and load test were performed to confirm the performance of the servo valve offset correction method. The results of the study were compared with those obtained by using the disturbance observer and PID control.
The control performance of hydraulic systems is basically influenced by the performance of electrohydraulic servo valve incorporated in a hydraulic control system. In this study, a control design was proposed to improve the control performance of a servo valve with a non-contact eddy current type position sensor. A mathematical model for the valve was obtained through an experimental identification process. A PI-D control together with a feedforward (FF) control was applied to the valve. To further improve the dynamic response of the servo valve, an input shaping filter (ISF) was incorporated into the valve control system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control system was verified experimentally.
