  • It can be replaced with a smart work service centering on tasks that do not require on-site work among container terminal tasks. Here, the cloud service is helpful for small and medium-sized stevedoring companies as it reduces the cost and time required for initial system construction, and allows you to pay usage fees as needed. This study introduces a case study on the development of web services that comply with industry standards so that advanced ICT can be used in connection with the terminal operation system.

  • Domestic car ferries do not operate a dedicated information system for cargo loading and management, It is impossible to arrange according to the cargo type and quantity at the time of cargo reservation due to restrictions such as the need to comply with the cargo layout drawings in advance approved by the Korean Register. For this reason, this is a study to utilize similar information systems in operation in container ships and terminals for the purpose of improving cargo shipment management tasks for car ferries.

An Optimization Model for a Single Cruise Ship Itinerary Planning (크루즈 선박의 운항일정계획을 위한 최적화 모형)

  • This paper presents a decision making model for the cruise ship management. A network based optimization model has been developed for a single cruise ship operation. It gives optimal itinerary patterns over the planning period for the cruise ship managers wanting to maximize profit from the cruise ship operation. A network solution method to find the optimal solution is also developed. This network model can be equivalently transformed into a linear programming model, which makes the implementation of the model quite practical however complicated the given set of possible itineraries may be. The ship scheduling network developed in this study can also be used as a general framework to describe all possible cruise ship itineraries the cruise ship manager can figure out.

An Empirical Study on the Level of Ship Safety Management in View of Seamen's Safety Activity (선원의 안전활동측면에서 본 선박의 안전관리 수준에 관한 실증연구)

  • In this study, the writer embodies factors influencing on ship safety management by an empirical survey. In the empirical survey, the writer used a questionnaire. 1, 271 proper data was obtained from 4, 240 Korean seamen working in 152 domestic and 60 foreign merchant ships. Reliability was tested by Cronbach's Alpha and a conceptual validity by Factor Analysis. Hypotheses established in this study were tested by Correlation and Multiple Regression Analysis. Results of analysis are as follows: Firstly, three levels(i.e. planning, doing, and evaluation) of safety management and satisfaction level of shipboard life correlate significantly with level of ship safety management and between them(P<0.05) Secondly, satisfaction level of shipboard life, evaluation and planning levels of safety management influence significantly on level of ship safety management(P<0.05).

  • In the current container port, the containers standardized by the automated operating system using the latest information and communication technology are systematically made according to the optimal stowage planning. However, loading of steel coils with a unit weight of several tens of tons is still performed manually, which is very inefficient. As a result, work is delayed and safety accidents occur frequently. In this study, an automated simulation system for loading steel coils was designed to prevent misjudgment, congestion, and safety accidents that occur during the manual loading process of steel coils.

Efficiency Analysis of ASEAN Ports Using DEA & Shannon's Entropy (DEA결합모형을 활용한 아세안(ASEAN)지역 항만의 효율성 분석)

  • The total container throughput of ASEAN is expected to increase continuously with economic development. However, ASEAN port infrastructure is insufficient to handle the increasing trade volume. According to the World Economic Forum, ASEAN ports except Singapore and Malaysia are ranked in low. Participation in ASEAN port development projects can lead an increase in trade efficiency with S. Korea by improving the port infrastructure of ASEAN countries. In addition, the S. Korean port-related industry can be energized through entering ASEAN port development projects. This study, which measures the efficiency of ASEAN ports, can be used as a basic guideline for the development and the planning of the ports. This study used Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) and Shannon's Entropy model together to measure ASEAN ports' efficiency. After measuring each DEA (CCR, I-BCC, O-BCC, SBM) weight, the efficiency of ASEAN ports is measured as reflecting each DEA weight. As a result, the ports of Singapore and Malaysia, the major ports in the world, have the highest efficiency. Further, Vietnamese ports need to raise efficiency along with increasing container throughput. Leam Chabang (Thailand), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), and Tanjung Priok (Indonesia) exhibit a negative correlation between container throughput and efficiency; therefore, the ports need to improve so as to maintain competitiveness. Lastly, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Brunei, which do not have active economic development, need to improve their ports for economic development.

A Study on Conservation and Practical Use of Incheon Old Town Urban Tissue (인천 구도심 도시조직의 보전 및 활용에 관한 연구: 지구단위계획의 내용과 실효를 중심으로)

  • This study reviewed details and case studies of district unit planning to preserve and develop urban tissues concerning a historic urban environment and provide implications for future practice. In particular, this case study examined the role of the district unit planning in city conservation rooted in the experience of Incheon's old town. The old town begins with the opening of Incheon Port and concessions, including Japanese, Qing Dynasty, and multinational settlements. Second, the study established land subdivision planning and reviewed the institutions to encourage urban tissue. Third, the conservation guidelines influenced the conservation and utilization of the streets, such as alleys and old coastlines, the form of parcels called deep and narrow lots, and the exterior elements of buildings. This study also derived implications for the future. First, the street with historical value in the settlement should be excavated further. Second, the parcels in the settlement limit redevelopment to maintain the unique morphological characteristics. Third, the exterior of the buildings should be provided with planning incentives to induce conservation and utilization.

  • Korea is one of the world's major oil importers. And a few domestic ports are operating SBMs for transferring imported crude oil to shore facilities. Recently, Ulsan port is planning to install additional new SBM and to move the existing two SBMs to other places according to the establishment of breakwater caused by the development of Ulsan New Port. However, there are no systematic and consistent standards for fixing the most suitable position domestically and internationally. This study aims to propose the standard of SBM installation using SAW after analyzing the examples of SBM operation and previous researches at home and abroad, and proposing the distribution rate based on opinion survey of exports and related organizations.

  • Hamburg is going with the HafenCity Project to create a new urban space for the city's bustling central district. HafenCity will add an additional 155 hectares to Hamburg's central urban area, increasing it's total area by some 40 percent. The qualities of the HafenCity are mainly marked through the location at the water, the river Elbe and the historically embossed milieu the Speicherstadt. A tightly mix of residential accommodation, offices, cultural and leisure amenities, retail facilities and restaurants manages diverse identities of quarters in a framework of an elaborate urban layout. This study is focusing on the purpose of the project goals, the task of the Hamburg authorities and GHS (Gesellschaft fur Hafen und Standortentwicklung) and an urban planning ideas competition (draft masterplan). Regarding of the new trend of the reurbanisation in Europe, the aim of this study is to find out, in which way HafenCity is trying to develope the new city district as a model for the European port city of the 21st century.

A Study on the Trip Pattern of Workers at Gwangyang Port : Focusing on home-based work(HBW) trip Using Mobile Carrier Big Data (광양항 근로자의 통행 패턴에 관한 연구 : 모바일 통신사 빅데이터를 활용한 가정기반 통근(HBW) 통행을 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed workers' residence and home-based work(HBW) trip by utilizing data from mobile carrier base stations of Gwangyang Port and terminal workers. In the past, research on port-related traffic or trip patterns mainly focused on cargo-based movement patterns for estimating cargo volume and port facilities, but this study analyzed trip patterns for workers in Gwangyang Port ports and related industries. As a result of the analysis, the average number of regular workers in the port hinterland Gwangyang Port was 1,295 per month, and the residence of workers was analyzed in Gwangyang City (66.1%)>Suncheon City (26.6%)>Yeosu City (3.1%). The average number of temporary workers in the hinterland was 2,645 per month, and Gwangyang City (45.8%)>Suncheon City (20.1%)>Yeosu City (5.7%). Next, the average number of regular workers at Gwangyang Port terminals was 753 per month, and Gwangyang City (66.1%)>Suncheon City (28.9%)>Yeosu City (3.3%) was analyzed. The average number of temporary workers at Gwangyang Port terminals was 1,893 per month, and Gwangyang City (50.8%)>Suncheon City (19.7%)>Yeosu City (9.8%). This study is expected to calculate the number of workers based on individual traffic using actual mobile carrier data to estimate the actual number of workers if the workplace address and actual work place are different, such as in port-related industries. This study is the first to be conducted on workers at Gwangyang Port. It is expected to be used as basic data for settlement conditions and urban planning, as well as transportation policies for port workers, by identifying the population coming from areas other than Gwangyang, where Gwangyang Port is located.
