The Impact of Cruise Lines' Program on Tourism Industry in Incheon

  • Purpose: This research explores possibilities for unique tourism programs in the Port of Incheon that would bring tourism benefits from the cruise line industry to Incheon. This research also tries to find practical strategies and principles for the cruise line industry by reviewing the current itinerary in the cruise line industry. Research design, data, and methodology: Because this study is exploratory research, it first reviews trends in global tourism, ocean tourism, and the cruise line industry. Then, this study compares the current status of cruise line industry in South Korea with those in Japan. Lastly, existing cruise itineraries are reviewed for practical strategies and principles. Results: Based on reviewing the example of a cruise ship itinerary from the cruise ship company, possible cruise line programs at stopover places are suggested for the Port of Incheon and if the program is planted, it will boost Incheon's economy and tourism industry. Conclusion: Basic data about tourism in coastal regions and data analyses are lacking. Therefore, this study not only recommends further research in itinerary development or evaluation of cruise stopover programs, but also future research should explore the impact of the cruise industry from many different perspectives.

국제해상운송업의 물류경쟁력 영향요인 (The Effects of Logistics Competence in Korea Overseas Shipping Industry)

  • The purpose of this study is to consider the problem on pursuit of logistics strategy by our international shipping company in international shipping business under the said circumstance due to the open international shipping market and to suggest the logistics strategy for the consideration of the logistics competition under new international shipping circumstances. The results of empirical analysis are mentioned as follows; First, it shall be considered to maintain the size of company bigger than a certain capability so that it may obtain the superior competition of logistics. Second, as there are the plus correlations between the competition of logistics and the logistic support, it is necessary to pursuit the upgrade service with using EDI system and making up the complex shipping and integrated logistics system in general. Third, with the rationalization of finance policy and the profitable management of shipping company the ratio of net worth can be raised and it can be achieved to make the sound financial structure as reducing the excessive debt ratio. Fourth, it can be effort continuously to perform the investment for the infrastructure of logistics support & the institutional supplement so that it may achieve to increase the efficiency of logistic support at pier and to reduce the cost of logistic support.

우리나라 해난구조기업의 실태분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the situation analysis of Korean Salvage Company)

  • The amount and quantity of sea casualities are increased by both an increasing sea-borne cargoes and heavy sea traffic. This paper analyzed the situation of Korean salvage company in order to activate on civilbasis, compared with the nature of common enterprises, and reported the object, the necessity, and the cha-racter of salvage company. For the purpose of this study, three parts are considered in order to analyze the environment of salvage company(the trend of sea casualties, sea-borne cargoes-passengers, ship tonnage/age) the effective planning to activate Korean salvage company are abstracted as follows : 1.the political assistance of concerned government authority. 2.the cooperation system of concerned business field. 3.the self-developing management of salvage company.

  • 항만국 통제 점검(Port State Control Inspection)은 해양 선박사고의 대부분이 선박 자체의 결함 보다는 인적 과실에 의하여 발생되고 있다는 사실을 인지하고 선박을 운항하고 있는 선원의 자격 검증과 교육훈련 부문의 점검을 강화하고 있다. 이에 따라 날로 강화되고 있는 국제 협약과 국제 법규를 충족시키기 위한 선원의 재교육훈련을 어떻게 효과적이고 효율적으로 시행하느냐가 해운기업에 있어서 풀어나가야 할 숙제라 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내 S사의 피 교육자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고 연령, 학력, 근무연수, 직위 등을 기준으로 응답자를 분류하여 교육 훈련의 목적 및 필요성, 자기 동기부여, 교육효과 및 성과, 교육훈련의 만족도 등 4개 항목에 대한 인식의 차이를 분석하고 교육의 효과를 높일 수 있는 교육 방안 수립을 위한 시사점을 도출하였다.

수출입 공급망 안전 프로그램에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Supply Chain Security Program)

  • In this study, the scope of previous logistics security were focused only on port and ship. Because of it now extends to the overall (export and import) supply chain areas and in regards with supply security programs in the international level, it reviewed supply chain security programs categorized them into 'ships and port security system', 'container screening system', 'logistics chain authorization system' which are expanded to be adopted in the international level. The major features of those programs are summarized as in building risk management system, providing information ahead, selectivity test and benefits to AEO authorized companies in the customs administration level. The government and companies which are to ensure supply chain security and trade facilitation in order to cope actively with international customs administrative atmosphere need to do the followings : First, they need to build an intra-government integrated supply chain security and make efforts to conclude AEO MRA in order to increase trade competitiveness among major trading countries. Second, they need to build supply chain risk management system in order to enhance management performance through overseas market and company level strategy to obtain and maintain AEO authorization in the company level.

  • The statistics of Korean Maritime Safety Tribunal and Japan Marine Accidents Inquiry Agency shows that the major muses of collision at sea are Improper lookout and Non-compliance with marine traffic rules. Those two muses are occupying more than 70% of collision, and it's clear that those muses are undoubtedly closely related to simple human error. In this paper we tried to find out the root muses of this kind of human error of OOWs(officers on watch) through risk identification method and studied how to tackle them via risk control theory. In conclusion, the measures studied in this paper could be applied to help OOWs avoid their own human error as well as be used in shipping company for their fleets' safety management.

녹색물류기업 인증이 녹색물류성과에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Certification of Green Logistics Company on Performance)

  • 본 연구는 물류기업을 대상으로 녹색물류기업 인증이 녹색물류성과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고, 그에 대한 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 녹색물류와 관련된 선행연구를 통해 물류성과, 환경성과, 자원성과 및 기업성과와 같은 성과 변수를 도출하고, 녹색물류기업 인증 기준과의 영향관계를 분석하였다. 물류기업 종사자를 대상으로 녹색물류기업 인증과 녹색물류성과의 관계에 대하여 설문조사를 실시하고, 탐색적 요인분석, 신뢰성분석 및 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였으며, 가설검증을 위해 구조방정식 모형분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 녹색물류 목표관리는 물류성과와 환경성과에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 물류에너지 및 온실가스 산정은 물류성과, 환경성과 및 자원성과에 유의한 영향을 미쳤고, 녹색물류 효과관리는 기업성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 녹색물류 전환사업은 녹색물류성과라고 할 수 있는 물류성과, 환경성과, 자원성과 및 기업성과에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였다.

  • 본 연구는 해운서비스 거래기업간의 관계를 대상으로 관계마케팅 기법을 적용함으로써 보다 동태적인 시장메카니즘을 분석하고자 수행되었다. 해운기업은 영업업무가 큰 비중을 차지하는 기업으로서 해운기업과 하주의 관계구조를 분석함에 있어서 고객의 접점에 있는 영업사원의 관계특성을 기업차원의 관계특성과 함께 고려해야할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 해운서비스 공급기업에 초점을 맞추어 하주들과 장기협력관계를 구축하는 데 영향을 미치는 관계의 질을 중심으로 그 선행요인인 관계특성과 성과요인인 장기협력관계를 실증분석함으로써 해운기업이 하주와 장기협력관계를 구축하는 데 유용한 정보를 제공하고자 하였다.

A Study on Economic Operation for Liner-Fleet by Fluctuation of Fuel Oil Price - Focusing on the Case of 'H' Shipping Company -

  • For container shipping company, fuel oil prise is a considerable expense. Since 2008, fuel oil prises have risen dramatically. An increasing fuel oil price in container shipping, in the short term, is only partially compensated through surcharges and may affect earnings negatively. This study discusses the impact of an increasing fuel oil price and capital costs for vessels on the Asia-Europe trade of 'H' Shipping Company. According to the result of 'H' carrier's operation in 2008, there were no cost differences between 8 and 9 vessels operations in case of fuel oil price with USD 169/tons while adopting USD 31,818 as a fixed cost. We can expect that the fuel oil price will not go lower than USD 200/Ton on the basis of current high oil price phenomenon. When the fuel oil price is over USD 200/ton, 9 vessel operation is more economic than 8 vessel operation even if the fixed cost is over USD 35,000.

A Study on the Insolvency Prediction Model for Korean Shipping Companies

  • To develop a shipping company insolvency prediction model, we sampled shipping companies that closed between 2005 and 2023. In addition, a closed company and a normal company with similar asset size were selected as a paired sample. For this study, data of a total of 82 companies, including 42 closed companies and 42 general companies, were obtained. These data were randomly divided into a training set (2/3 of data) and a testing set (1/3 of data). Training data were used to develop the model while test data were used to measure the accuracy of the model. In this study, a prediction model for Korean shipping insolvency was developed using financial ratio variables frequently used in previous studies. First, using the LASSO technique, main variables out of 24 independent variables were reduced to 9. Next, we set insolvent companies to 1 and normal companies to 0 and fitted logistic regression, LDA and QDA model. As a result, the accuracy of the prediction model was 82.14% for the QDA model, 78.57% for the logistic regression model, and 75.00% for the LDA model. In addition, variables 'Current ratio', 'Interest expenses to sales', 'Total assets turnover', and 'Operating income to sales' were analyzed as major variables affecting corporate insolvency.
