System Development of Precision Vision Measurement Using Fuzzy C-Means Algorithm (Fuzzy C-Means를 이용한 정밀 영상측정 시스템 개발)

  • The measuring systems of auto-parts are most of greater part very expensive. This paper tries to study to make a low-cost measuring equipment there's several kinds of parts in automobile. In this study, we take aircon-switch called magnet coil-housing as the object of measurements. The measurements of this product is currently in difficult situations at factory. In the case of the mesuring objects being big sizes and camera sensor having under 410000 pixels, the key point is the number of pixels not to be changed whenever the same object is measured under the same position. We modified and used fuzzy c-means algorithm to get mostly without the change of the numbers of pixels exactly. Also, the standardized ruler is necessary to measure the length of the object but it is not easy to get the precised ruler. Therefore, the standard length has been taken as the mean value of the pixels in the previous passed objects manually obtained at factory. The results are displayed on monitor and transferred these signals to the microprocessor through RSC-232 port to determine a good or bad of products.

  • This Paper introduces the design and communication method between PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and Arduino based on MODBUS Protocol. MODBUS connection can be established in a new or existing system very easily, therefore we used this protocol in our proposed system. In the field of automatic devices, multi-function serial port such as RS232, RS422, RS485, and so on creates a great convenience to the developer. This proposed system used RS485 as a key mediator for data exchanging on a connected network. We also believe that it will reduce the development cost in various automated industry because this system can be reused or can be implemented any such PLC installed machines. RS485 is used as a communication interface between PLC (as a slave) and Arduino (as a master), through which a reliable network is created for safe and fast communication. Furthermore, RS485 allows multiple devices(up to 32) to communicate at half duplex on a single pair of wires and provides a long connectivity area (up to 1200 meters) as compare to other device, which makes it a user-friendly for various devices in the automated industry. Moreover, Arduino can play as a mediator by connecting third party device and setup a communication network with PLC.

A Study on the Actual Condition Analysis for Shipping Logistics Information System Activation (해운물류정보시스템의 활성화를 위한 실태분석 연구)

  • The information technology(IT) development of telecommunication, along with the informationalization over the world, enables the firms to process their inner and outer operations through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system. And the concept of logistics has become more important to the enterprises in strategic sense because it had aggrandized itself to more comprehensive and integrative concept. Also the world shipping market is more competitive than any other market. In these environment, to maintain competitve power, shipping firms process operations by Logistics Information system(LIS), And then, reduce the working processes, working time and its costs. So the LIS has become more important in developing our national logistics system and industry. Therefore, this study purposes on empirically analyzing the activation factors of shipping LIS and the relationship these factors with logistic performances in the shipping industry. Considering environments of Shipping logistics information system, this study sets up the research model and hypothesis to examine the activation factors of shipping LIS and the relationship these factors with logistic performances. We used the field data on the 163 numbers of firms(29 overseas shipping companies and 133 forwarding Agency) to get the empirical evidence. According to the study results, The shipping LIS activation factors which the sample firms recognized as important: were top manager's support, well structured communication channel, strategic plan's connection and inner informationalization level. And IS organization & human resources, IS discipline & training, software development, IS organizational alignment, database management system, information standardization, competitive advantage, financial support and government support represent partially significant. Also, the current shipping LIS's main problems are expensive system cost, standardization of working process's, institution's imperfection and system's interaction defect. So these problems must be improved to activate shipping LIS.

  • The complicated embedded system for multi-tasking requires RTOS(real-time operating system). It uses the optimal OS and processor to each embedded system on the heterogeneous development environment. This paper is proposed to use UML profile of OS API and Processor Configuration, instead of cross-compiling for developing the heterogeneous embedded system. This reduces the development time and cost through generating the automatic source code with the profile information of each embedded system. We generate and port the code after modeling the two heterogeneous real time operating systems (brickOS and uC/OS-II) and the processors (Hitachi H8 and Intel PXA255) with our proposed profile of the heterogeneous embedded system.

A Development of Mobile Vehicle Diagnostic System on .NET System and Bluetooth (블루투스와 닷넷 시스템에서의 모바일 자동차 진단기 개발)

  • Currently, mobile handset embeds many communication modules including CDMA and Bluetooth, and many applications are developed based on these modules. In this paper, we study about wireless vehicle diagnosis software and user interface based on bluetooth system on mobile handset. We developed Bluetooth communication system on protocol converter between OBD(On Board Diagnostics)-II system. Based on this system, we can communicate ECU(Engine Control Unit) and mobile device based on windows .NET compact framework platform. Therefore we can easily diagnose vehicle state and obtain engine data. All user interface and vehicle diagnosis systems on mobile handset are developed under windows .NET compact framework platform. Using this system we achieved several improvements over existing vehicle diagnostic system; 1) the software download and upgrade can be achieve on wireless environment, 2) no additional diagnostic devices are requires, which saves additional cost and we can diagnose the vehicle easily, 3) we can easily port our system on many embedded systems including PDA and navigator, etc.

  • Companies almost don't use an integrated control system using expensive network system in multimedia like TV and DID, despite IP-Broadcasting and communication equipment have expanded rapidly. The proposed integrated TCU(terminal control unit) is a control device that supports TV power On/Off check and remote control, power control reservation function, TV channel change, a variety of interface supports of input/output AC power & Lan port, RS-232C and IR using existing IP network after there is installed the Wake-on -Lan in the set-top box. The TCU can control and monitor 24 hours unlike existing low-cost control system RF method. In existing control equipment markets without expandability and low price, the TCU development including 24 hours monitoring and automatic control functions is expected to secure a wide range of companies.

A Heuristic Algorithm for a Ship Speed and Bunkering Decision Problem (선박속력 및 급유결정 문제에 대한 휴리스틱 알고리즘)

  • Maritime transport is now regarded as one of the main contributors to global climate change by virtue of its $CO_2$ emissions. Meanwhile, slow steaming, i.e., slower ship speed, has become a common practice in the maritime industry so as to lower $CO_2$ emissions and reduce bunker fuel consumption. The practice raised various operational decision issues in terms of shipping companies: how much ship speed is, how much to bunker the fuel, and at which port to bunker. In this context, this study addresses an operation problem in a shipping companies, which is the problem of determining the ship speed, bunkering ports, and bunkering amount at the ports over a given ship route to minimize the bunker fuel and ship time costs as well as the carbon tax which is a regulatory measure aiming at reducing $CO_2$ emissions. The ship time cost is included in the problem because slow steaming increases transit times, which implies increased in-transit inventory costs in terms of shippers. We formulate the problem as a nonlinear lot-sizing model and suggest a Lagrangian heuristic to solve the problem. The performance of the heuristic algorithm is evaluated using the data obtained from reliable sources. Although the problem is an operational problem, the heuristic algorithm is used to address various strategic issues facing shipping companies, including the effects of bunker prices, carbon taxes, and ship time costs on the ship speed, bunkering amount and number of bunkering ports. For this, we conduct sensitivity analyses of these factors and finally discuss study findings.

The tendency and the effectiveness of policy in marine accident occurring in the sea around Jeju island (제주도 주변 해역에서 발생하는 해양 사고의 동향과 정책의 효율성)

  • The objective of this paper is to aid in basic directions for the countermeasure against marine accidents by using the statistical data of Jeju Coast Guard from 1983 to 2012. Marine accidents of about 600~1,000 vessels was reported in all the waters around South Korea from 2000 to 2008. From 2009, these accidents increased rapidly and reached 1,600~2,000 vessels. Although marine accidents of longline fishing vessels did not show a big change prior to 1993, the number have increased steadily until 2007. This is considered a tendency that appears when longline vessels, using the Port of Sungsanpo as a base and operating in fishing grounds in the East China Sea, are converted to long-term fishing from short-term fishing for reasons such as cost reduction due to the sudden rise of oil prices and the performance improvement of the fishing vessels. The number of vessels in marine accidents decreased gradually from 1999 to 2002 and for nearly 7 years from 2002 to 2008, the annual average of marine accidents stayed at 97 vessels. This is seemed to be the result of a change in the policy of either the central or local government and largely associated with changes in the way of statistical processing. This tendency is resulted in lower number of the accidents due to careless navigation which can be viewed as a human error than the number of marine accidents due to poor maintenance as a cause of mechanical failure in the same period. The increase rate in the marine accidents of Jeju Island-based fishing vessels is greater than that of other area-based fishing vessels among the fishing vessels operating in coastal and near sea around Jeju Island each year.
