As car-oriented road policies have been made forward so far, relatively pedestrians' walking conditions are so in poor environments that more than two thousand pedestrians die from car accidents every year. Pedestrians' walking right has been severely invaded like that. Pedestrians' walking right is a right that people are able to walk safely and comfortably in pleasant surroundings as long as they don't threaten the public safety, order maintenance, and welfare. The government has an obligation to provide safe, comfortable, and pleasant environments to pedestrians. Recently interests in pedestrians' safety are increasing, government-driven supports have been made to make safe, pleasant, and healthy walking surroundings. As poor walking condition improvement projects cost high, they should be progressed to accomplish maximal effects using finite finances efficiently, and post feasibility evaluations of the projects should be severely estimated. However site selecting indicators which satisfy with the goal for composing safe working surroundings have not been decided yet, though currently it has a legal basis to specify walking condition improvement sites by the Law for Pedestrians' safety and Comfort Increasement. Therefore this study focuses on suggesting improved ways for selecting sites where pedestrians' safe environment project by reviewing previous research. When project sites are selected, evaluation indicators related to awareness survey of residents and history should be excluded, and disaster safety assessments for walking safety facilities, latent human hazards and natural disasters like a strong wind are proposed besides evaluations on pedestrians' safety and walking environment for matching with the purpose of the project to make safe working surroundings.

Electronic Paper Displays (EPDs) incorporating electrophoretic foils have made digital reading as pleasant as reading normal print. We will report on progress to replace glass-based displays with light and robust plastic EPDs using only a few extra process steps in a standard TFT-LCD factory.

A definition of timbre was proposed which suggested its application to two attributes of sound: "a characteristic which gives a clue to the identify of the sound source, and the quality of sounds which corresponds to the emotive impression timbre are multidimensional. Using semantic differential, the factorial invariance of timbre was investigated and it was found that three factors were dominant: "pleasant", "powerful" and "metallic". The generality of these three factors has been confirmed in Japan. The relation between timbre and physical values was examined. Finally, the usefulness of verbal expression concerning timbre has also been discussed.ing timbre has also been discussed.

The subway in Seoul, Korea has been constructed and operating 8 lines and 265 subway stations since 1974. And now it' been operated in the metropolis like Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Incheon. The subway system is being given a great deal of weight on the public transportation system. It means that the citizens of seoul are getting exposured to the underground environment more and more. As the quality of life is getting better, the desire for a pleasant(healthy) environment has been increased. so we have to study effective environment management plans for the subway, When considering Indoor air pollution as another serious environment problem.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the emotional change of a driver according to the change of temperature, humidity, $CO_2$ gas concentration and $C_4H_{10}$ gas concentration in the automobile by electroencephalogram(EEG) spectrum analysis. The experiment was performed in an automobile simulated shielding room with healthy volunteers(age : 18-31, male : 14, female : 7). The subject's emotion at every different condition was indexed 11-point scale(+5 : most pleasant, -5 : least pleasant). The emotion index at each condition resulted in as follows; in temperature $1.00(23.5^{\circ}C)$, $-2.33(30.5^{\circ}C)$, in humidity 1.50(45%), -1.50(65%), in $CO_2$ gas concentration 0.67(500ppm), -0.57(6,000ppm), in $C_4H_{10}$ gas concentration -0.25(0ppm), -2.75(1,200ppm). From EEG spectrum analysis, the average mean power frequency(MPF) value at each different condition was shown as follows; in temperature $5.48(23.5^{\circ}C)$, $4.06(30.5^{\circ}C)$, in humidity 11.03(45%), 3.03(65%), in $CO_2$ gas concentration 7.16(500ppm), 6.38(6,000ppm), in $C_4H_{10}$ gas concentration 10.21(0ppm), 2.87(1,200ppm). When the environment became unpleasant to the subject, all of the obtained MPF values were decreased. It was found that there is close agreement between subjective evaluation by subject's scaling and objective evaluation by EEG spectrum analysis at different environment. These results indicated that the EEG spectrum analysis is a proper method to assess emotional response of a driver in the changing automobile environment.

Health has occupied a position of importance in the human history, whether it be in the East or in the West, and it is a subject in which people have been constantly interested. The concept of health has changed continuously as the society has developed, industrialized and become more structured. The perception of health concept can be an esential factor which is to determine the health behaviors. This study is a descriptive inquiry done to identity high school students' perception of health and what they do as health behaviors. The subject consisted of 503 voctional high school seniors, 129 boys and 374 girls, from a school located in An-san Si, kyong-gi Do. The instruments used for this study were open-ended questionnaires and data were collected by having the students fill out the questionnaires which took 10 minutes, in their first class, April 6, 1995. The collected materials were classified and recorded on the cards according to each question using the terms which students had written. After putting statements which had common meanings together, the representative categories were labelled. The results obtained are as follows. 1. Categorizing and labelling of health concepts What high school students descripted as health concepts were classified as the absence of illness, physical comfort, strong physical strength and physique, not having a deformity, resisting power, self control mental-rest(or psychological comfort), wholesome ideas, self-control, harmony in body and in mind, maintenace of daily life, pleasant life, good friends, peaceful family life and realizing objectives. 2. Categorizing and labelling of health behaviors These were classified as preventive life, good dietary habits and regimen, maintenance of clean body, exercises, preventing obesity, rest, environmental balance or control of environment, limit one's tastes, making use of leisure, peaceful mind, sound thought and regular living habits. The result indicates that the health concepts were positive and included not only absence of illness but also harmony in body and in mind and pleasant life; health behaviors which had high frequency were good dietary habits and regimen, exercises and sound thought. It is hoped that these findings well serve as practical references for teachers when they counsel with, and provide the students with guidance programs which include health care.

Effects of Monascus anka powder on the quality characteristics of bread were investigated. Monascus anka powder was added to wheat flour at concentrations of 0, 1.0, 3.0 and 5.0%, respectively. The dough yield tended to decrease by adding Monascus anka products but those were not significant difference. The loaf volume index decreased by adding Monascus anka powder. The springiness of bread increased by the addition of Monascus anka. However bread with Monascus anka powder showed higher textural properties(strength, hardness, gumminess and brittleness) except for cohesi- veness than bread without Monascus anka powder. Color of L values decreased while a and b value increased with increasing quality of bread product No significant difference in pleasant flavor between bread with and without Monascus anka products were observed. However, bread with 1% Monascus anka powder showed the highest score for pleasant color, taste, texture and overall quality.
