저온 플라즈마 장치를 이용한 디젤기관의 유해배출물질 저감에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Reduction of Diesel Emission Using Low Temperature Plasma Apparatus)

  • The increasing use of vehicles is causing air-pollution problems. Diesel vehicles are preferred to gasoline vehicles, because the diesel vehicles are superior to gasoline vehicles in terms of fuel consumption, durability, power and efficiency. But the emission reduction technologies for diesel vehicle are not developed well like those for gasoline vehicles. Moreover, the NOx and smoke emitted from diesel vehicle are recognized as a main source of the air-pollution in the urban areas. The emission reduction devices have been installed for each of the emission gas components. Using plasma(i.e. electrical energy)only, the emission gas was found to be reduced. The present paper investigate the effects of a low temperature plasma device in engine performance as well as in emission reduction with the change of the applied voltage and the loading rate of the engine.

펄스형 방전플라스마에서 발생하는 X선 측정 (X-ray Radiation from Pulsed Discharge Plasma)

  • 플라스마 포커스장치에서 방사되는 전자기파 중에서 X선에 대한 특성을 조사하였다. X선 측정은 pin 포토다이오드와 0.5mm 핀홀카메라로 이루어졌으며, X선 이외의 전자기파를 차폐하기 위해 $25{\mu}m$ 베리륨박막을 사용하였다. X선 발생조건은 방전전압이 15kV이었고, 아르곤 기체압력은 0.12torr 이었다. X선 발생의 재현성이 조사되었고, 방사되는 X선의 온도는 3keV 이상이었다.

  • 플라즈마오존은 높은 살균성능으로 인해 다양한 살균분야에서 활용되고 있다. DBD(유전체 장벽방전)에 사용되는 유전체는 주로 석영, 세라믹, 폴리머 등이 주로 사용된다. 유전체로 이루어진 레이어는 공급되는 전하의 양을 제한시키고 플라즈마가 유전체 면 위에서 고르게 발생할 수 있도록 하는 역할을 한다. 이러한 DBD를 이용한 플라즈마, 오존살균은 살균대상이나 주변 환경이 복잡한 구조로 된 경우가 많아 공간살균에 대한 개념을 수립하고 이에 대한 연구와 학문적 체계가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 플라즈마라디칼과 오존 생성을 위해 대기압에서 DBD방식을 이용한다. 플라즈마오존의 발생을 위한 반응기의 구조는 세라믹 튜브 유전체와 스테인리스 도체를 일정한 간격으로 배치하여 유전체 장벽방전을 발생시키는 형태이다. 공간살균장치로서의 플라즈마오존 발생은 성능 면에서 우수한 살균장치로 인식되고 있으므로 장치의 설계와 검증을 통해 공간살균장치의 최적설계를 확립하고자 하며 제안된 방법을 기반으로 다양한 살균 어플리케이션을 개발하는데 기초를 제공한다.

  • In this study, we created a DBD plasma device and a MnO2 catalyst mesh filter for evaluating ozone reduction of devices via the catalyst method. The DBD plasma device was manufactured by applying Ag paste to soda lime glass via the screen-printing method. The MnO2 catalyst mesh filter was manufactured by mixing MnO2 powder with binder with a 10% difference in concentration from 10% to 50% and then applying it using the dip-coating method. Finally, we sintered a MnO2 catalyst mesh filter in an electric furnace. We evaluated the characteristics of ozone generation according to the Ar gas flow of DBD plasma devices, the opening ratio, and ozone reduction performance of the MnO2 catalyst filters. Ozone reduction performance was approximately 20.4% at MnO2 10 wt%, 37.8% at MnO2 30 wt% and 50% at MnO2 50 wt%.

돈사 적용용 DC전압을 이용한 오존발생장치 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Ozone Generator with using DC Voltage for Swinery)

  • HS, Ammonia, CH$_4$, VOCs, Microorganism, Bacteria etc produced from swineries or henhouses are known to prevent the growth of livestock. Moreover, they give an unpleasant feeling to the workers. In this study, a methodology to remove odors and toxic gases by oxidation of ozone was thus accomplished. However, most ozone generators which use the atmospheric surrounding air have problems of contamination of electrode for discharge. Therefore in this work, a wire-cylinder type plasma reactor with DC voltage has been used both in a laboratory scale test and in the real swinery to solve the existing problems. About 6 cm of electrode gap could decrease the attachment of dusts, humid aerosols and other polymers, which are contained in the air. This compact designed device could produce ozone to oxidize and remove the air pollutants. But the amount of ozone was not large enough to be harmful to human Health. Also, the concentration of ozone was able to be varied by the input voltage. which makes it available for the proposed system to be installed in various kinds of pig houses. With this device, at maximum 43 mg/㎥ (20 ppm) of ozone could be produced at 40 ㎸ input voltage (consumed energy was 0.1 Wh/㎥). A program was also made in this work to calculate the optimum parameters for design of a plasma reactor in wide range of conditions.

Failure analysis of damaged tungsten monoblock components of upper divertor outer target in EAST fusion device

  • A melting failure of W monoblock components of the upper divertor outer target in EAST occurred during the plasma campaigns in 2019. The failure characters and microstructure evolution of the failed W monoblock have been well investigated on one string (W436 string). Near the strike point region where heat flux density is highest, macroscopic cracks and severe surface damage such as dimensional change, melting and solidification are visible in several W monoblocks. At the same time, debonding, melting and migration of Cu/CuCrZr cooling tube components introduced fatal damage to the structure and function. The heat-induced microstructure evolution in the rest part has been examined via hardness tests and metallography. From the heat flux surface to the cooling tube, hardness increased gradually and the recrystallized grains could be found in the region with the highest temperature, while recrystallization grains also appear in some W monoblocks near the cooling tube area. The detailed microstructure has been investigated by metallography and EBSD. Such cases in EAST provide experiences on the extreme condition of accidental loss of coolant or higher discharge power in future devices.

  • 펄스형 방전플라스마장치에서 축방향 플라스마 curren sheath의 속력을 측정하였고, snowplow 모델과 비교하였다. Current sheath의 속력은 $10^6cm/s$로 측정되었다. 측정된 속력 중에서 가벼운 기체인 수소와 헬륨은 모델의 이론과 비슷한 결과가 나왔으나 무거운 기체인 아르곤은 이론과 조금 벗어났다. 그 이유는 current sheath의 불안정성 때문으로 추정된다.

PEM을 이용한 ITO/PET film의 조성 제어 (The composition control of ITO/PET by plasma emission monitor)

  • The characterization of the reactively sputtered ITO layer on the PET film has been studied. The PEM device has been used to determine the optimum stoichimetry through control of the amount of oxygen incorporated into the alloy target and the optimum operation conditions to produce films with the highest electrical conductivity and visible transparency. The PEP film was pre-treated under the plasma discharge condition to remove the adsorbed gases and to modify the surface morphology. The results revealed that by adjusting the flow rate of oxygen with the spectral intensity of indium target, the composition of plasma gas can be kept constant during the entire deposition period. The resistivity of ITO film obtained was fond to be about 37$\Omega\Box$, and the transmittance of visual range was about 86%.

Measurement of Plasma Density Generated by a Semiconductor Bridge: Related Input Energy and Electrode Material

  • The plasma densities generated from a semiconductor bridge (SCB) device employing a capacitor discharge firing set have been measured by a novel diagnostic technique employing a microwave resonator probe. The spatial resolution of the probe is comparable to the separation between the two wires of the transmission lines (${\approx}$3 mm). This method is superior to Langmuir probes in this application because Langmuir probe measurements are affected by sheath effects, small bridge area, and unknown fraction of multiple ions. Measured electron densities are related to the land material and input energy. Although electron densities in the plasma generated by aluminum or tungsten-land SCB devices show a general tendency to increase steadily with power, at the higher energies, the electron densities generated from tungsten-land SCB devices are found to remain constant.

  • 소형 대기압 플라즈마 소스는 그 형태에 따라 DBD (Dielectric Barrier Discharge)나 Plasma Needle, 혹은 Plasma Jet 등으로 구별되며, 구동 파형의 특성에 따라 DC, RF (Radio Frequency), 혹은 Pulsed 방식 등으로 나뉜다. 또한 코로나 방전도 소형 대기압 플라즈마 장치에서 사용된다. DBD는 1857년 Siemens에 의해 최초로 보고 되었고 산업 분야에서 대규모로 사용되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 대향 방전 DBD 대신 유전체 양쪽 면에 전극이 도포된 면방전 형태의 DBD 구조 내부로 He 가스가 흐를 때의 방전에 대한 광학적 진단을 수행하였다. 전극간의 거리와 가스 유속의 변화에 따라 방전 특성이 어떻게 달라지에 대해서 Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)를 통하여 생성되는 radical 종의 변화를 측정하고 ICCD (intensified charge coupled device) image를 통해 방전이 시간에 따라 어떻게 진행되는지를 진단하였다.
